I build "off road mudmowers" and i weld the diff in those, i really like the size of those element diffs, looks like you could cut one down to fit a mud mower. Thanks for taking the extra time to show us.

When you install the Phantom Grip please lift the car up and show us the limited slip that way by spinning the tires with your hands, maybe a guy on both sides turning showing us the gripping abilities of it instead of doing a burn out because it's hard to tell if the car just has so much power its spinning both tires freely or its actuly doing somthing! Please and Thanks!

The content is solid, and you have a decent amount of views. You should really consider throwing I'm some ads. At this runtime, you could generate a decent amount per vid. Just something to think about

I'm glad you're doing all the testing.! Very interested in how the CR-V awd set up will perform.! was sad you scrapped the crv build but this awd build makes up for it.! maybe get insane shafts all around.!
@awdeg19876 жыл бұрын
I'm really trying to understand why you decided to weld the diff. People running 8s even 7s have open differentials in the back. What do you think will happen if one of those skinny axels from the crv snaps and only one side keeps turning while you are going at a high speed
@BIGSMOKE-bl2lq6 жыл бұрын
Less forces if u leave it open so less likely to brake it cars not gonna have alot of power i wouldn't bother welding it just the car shitty to drive around
@Matt-zi8ud5 жыл бұрын
Everyone running those times use the wagon diff. This is an element diff. They are different.

Awd going be fun but don't awd SWAP the teg lol jkjk its your car do what you want to do with the teg . Track day soon ? i want to see 9s before the Boostedboiz do it ha.

Is it not advisable to weld rear diff gears and viscous plates?

Hi I have a quick question, I want to start a build, is the differential the same from an automatic or a manual transmission crv? Reason I ask is the junk yard has many automatic with differential available. I want to buy what is available at hand.

You should weld the diff with the axles in place it keeps the spider gears centered
@liamkelly86846 жыл бұрын
And that diff needs more weld and a plate there just little tacks your buddy put on

How are you gonna get it to the rear wheels? What rear subframe? Trailing arms? A lot of fabrication you will need to do for this ambitious project.

@waqasahmad33895 жыл бұрын
Welded the diff. Should have put a lsd ring gear. Welded diff will frequently break axles and shaft u joint and transmission and definitely cause vibrations in drive train due to unbalanced welding
@turbiandojstboostit99014 жыл бұрын
how long did this last for you
@98turbskicivic356 жыл бұрын
So instead of using a phantom grip on the front axel could u weld that aswell like u did the rear?
@richierich98666 жыл бұрын
Doesn't work very well in front wheel drive cause the diff is inside the tranny case Making it hard to get to and if u get any little buggers in the gears it could cause some serious damage. It's been done but most people just use an lsd
@BiggerBetterFaster6 жыл бұрын
@@richierich9866 not to mention it will be hard as hell to turn. the lsd referred to in the rear because it is welded is actually a completely locked diff. both tires will turn the same speed 100% of the time. with an lsd it acts like an open diff until it is under power, and 1 wheel is spinning faster then the other, then it almost locks both together for better traction. poster should have been more clear, and used the right terms to avoid confusion

...a welded diff DOES NOT mimic a limited slip differential... You locked up the diff by welding it, no slip at all. Have fun cornering.

I really wish you wouldn't have welded the dif and showed us what actually works instead. So many things online and so many opinions out there. I have an 03 Element with AWD and I want my dif to work a lot better but not welded, and I don't know which actually works without wearing it out or over heating it.
@sideshow456 жыл бұрын
Pete's Creative Recycling welding is for offroad, drifting or racing. Theres nothing you can do to alter your stock open differential that will make it reliable and locked. You will just have to find a limited slip differential.

Phantom grip
@sideshow456 жыл бұрын
SP Tuning i wouldnt reccomend a phantom grip for a daily driven car. Too much friction and material being worn. I had one in my crx and the fluid turned black within weeks of fluid changes and tons of material anytime i opened the trans.
@PetesCreativeRecycling6 жыл бұрын
SP Tuning See what I mean? Everyone has their own opinion and some will even give you a ton of basic information that you didn't ask for in the assumption that they're the only ones who knew it. Like, your devcon trick... I didn't know it actually worked. I've read about it and such, but I've always had sleeves and guards machine pressed. I would have really liked to see a similar trick with the dif, like something you mentioned about springs and shims. Also, when I launch hard off 2-step my dif doesn't whine at all like all the forums say it would. Basically, I'm just getting to the point where I can't even read forums anymore, as it's just loaded with people who haven't actually done it and are just regurgitating crap they've heard or read in some other forum or magazine. When I see you do it though, I know it works. Like your B-series coil on plug videos. Heard about it, read about it, looked like BS, but after you did it I know it's legit.
