Can I only backup my saved data utility and PS3 settings? I kinda want to back up just those ones, since I can Re-install the game data utility later. I'm planning in the future to exchange my 12Gb HDD to a 250 Gb HDD, and I just want to backup my saved data. The game data utility is just the installed games that you can Re-install it once you put the game disk in the PS3, so if that's the case, I could just delete my Game Data Utility, backup my PS3 Saved game utility and settings, then after exchanging HDDs, backup the saved data, re-install the games and have more space. Another reason is that it gets tiring to delete a Game Data Utility in order to play a new game that needs installing, so the bigger the memory, the less painful waiting is better.

Hey public, I have a question. What if you were to copy all of your game data onto a thumb drive and upload all of the ps3 content from the drive on to a new ps3 and not back up any of the data prior ? Would I still be able to continue my gaming progress on the new ps3 where I left off or will It be inaccessible because it wasn't backed up ?

What if the USB is not registering the presence of the flash drive under the save game part? It shows in ever other part of the system: i.e. music, videos, etc. It is annoying!

If you uninstall a patched game and install it later, will it be still patched or do you need to connect to the internet for the patch to be reapplied? I'm looking for a way to keep all the game patches on hand offline. PSN PLUS allows you to backup from the cloud. If you have a USB device you don´t need PLUS

Zylice Liddell you can probably try using a 64 gb sd card. Other than that you'd probably have to start over on that game on the other ps3.
