Yes, this is probably the best way to learn the trick. Wish this video had been available 3 years ago. Looking back, I wasted a lot of time.

Another vote here for starting learning these with your wheel up on something. I’ve worked my way up to wheelieing my front wheel up onto a small wide wall, then keeping side balance up there with hops and side to side balance. It’s so great, as wheel hops are just a tiny nudge away when you’re almost on balance point already. I can wheelie you from static but all the front/back management in that position is more volatile as you’re moving into position much quicker. I’ll try them from a standstill with a wheelie once I have them off the wall position and its calm start.

If you notice that Shimano offers a call back on their fractured crank arms, I think it is related to hops and bunny hopping that Shimano never foreseen.

There are a bunch of riders working on techniques and you can send in your riding videos for even more tips to help you improve. We got you! 🙌

If you're clipped in, then do you really have to scoop the pedals?
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV 9 ай бұрын
No, but also...I would not recommend doing a back wheel hop with your feet clipped in. Especially if you're just learning the balance point, it's easy to land on your back if you go too far.

Can anyone let me know if it’s possible to back wheel hop on a BMX? I’ve searched through all the vids on you tube but they’re all done on trial bikes and MTB’s. I’m getting a bmx to ride with my 8 year old who’s just got one…would LOVE to learn this but I wonder why I can’t find anything on the internet on BMX? (I’m likely to get a larger 24” BMX in my old age!)

Hey Aaron, great tut again! I finally got myself a 24" street trial bike and had a session! What I'd found was the smaller wheels comparing to my 9er gave me a hard time, even doing basic stuff like trackstand, and a foreign feeling on handling the bike in general. Is this a phase everyone must go through? I'm worried I would be stuck here for a long time, given that I'm not even that advanced as a MTBer on basics. Thanks!
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV Жыл бұрын
Awesome!! That adjustment takes a little time, but it will go away after a few rides (and less time, over time). Your pedal timing will need to adjust and a few other things…but I promise it will resolve in no time!

I'm learning this skill on a hard tail with 27.5 wheels.. I'm looking for a high POE hub and wheel set up. Thoughts on pawl over ratchet design hubs and sturdy rim choice / spoke count? I just crushed a Roval Transverse on a curb likely due to low tire pressure so I figure I'll replace it with an optimal set up. Many thx!

I've been training for about 3 hours and I'm struggling a lot. I couldn't do one single hop no matter how hard I tried. I'm not bad at back wheel ballance. I can wheelie pretty good and manual isn't a problem for me as well. I could easily get on the rear wheel but even though I was trying to jump with my body as hard as I could, I didn't get it. Any tips?
@SuperRiderTV
@SuperRiderTV 7 ай бұрын
Did you try the backwards hop first? That's the first real unlock for most people. The other thing I would suggest is filming yourself riding. Sometimes what you think you are doing on the bike doesn't match up to what is actually happening (I still have this issue). Overexaggerating your movements will help quite a bit, too. Go bigger than you think you need to.

@@SuperRiderTV Thank you so much man. I went training today and I GOT IT!!! I recorded myself and found out that I didn't have my legs stretched enough, so I couldn't preload and jump. After 15 minutes of trying I also realised that you were talking about the scooping method. So I somehow managed to grip the pedals with my toes and I got my first hop. After few more minutes I was able to do 3.
