Thank you for showing when to move the dial and the whole weight. None of the other video’s I’ve seen has made that crucial distinction clear. I know finally have my new turntable set up. THANK YOU!

You sir are the hero of the day. To think, after all these years, and I never paid any attention to proper adjustments. I bought a quite expensive record yesterday and one of the tracks skipped all way through. The vinyl is in absolute mint condition. I cleaned it anyway. No, didn’t help. Then I found this: boom! Not one skip after I followed your instructions. Thank you!

Thank you. I just got the same exact setup (1200 and Shure WhiteLabel) and it is definitely no doubt a little different from the record players I had in my youth. So this explained it simply and easily and could not have made it easier to do.

Thank you! I spent my entire night last night frustrated because I couldn't figure out WTF I was doing trying to balance the tone arm. The tiniest bit of this video and it all makes sense. Play on!

Thanks Greg. I treated myself to a Technics deck a few weeks back. I thought I had done it wrong as the sound output was terrible. Your video confirmed I had dove it right rather I have a damaged stylus. The stylus has gone back to be replaced. Once again thank you for such an easily understood video.

After rotating the counter weight to level the tone arm, lock it down and then set the fine adjustment for the stylus and anti skating. To check if the anti skating is accurate, If you have a one sided record that has a smooth side, play it and see if it the tone arm deviates too much one way or the other and so you can make adjustments accordingly.

Thank you for the video. It’s direct and easy to follow. My question is about height adjustment, how can you tell if you have the correct arm height?

Nice video. Thanks. Just got a SL 3300 from a house clearance. A few issues that I might try to sort. It needs a new stylus to try out. Don't want to spend much in case I cant fix it. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

what about the height of the tone arm? Should that be level?How do you measure that? Do you put more slip mats underneath if it is nose down and tail up?

Hey smart bar I'm using a tractor control on my corn fields. How do I harvest it?
@duncanmatthews19774 ай бұрын
I think this is a good quick video to get things approximately correct. When you say start by getting it to balance, there are a range of heights this could be. It should be zero where stylus and vinyl live up horizontally.. then add required weight. Here your initial balancing is far too high.
@snublerud2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if keeping the anti skating at 3 is a good default...?
@brandamnRN6 жыл бұрын
Is the tonearm supposed to resist/move towards the right when it is floating? like how are you supposed to get it to float but also so that it can actually sit and track a record? great video btw
@Chudmeat5 жыл бұрын
If your tone arm is moving to the right when it's floating, you need to adjust your anti-skating dial.
@ahhgea23 күн бұрын
What about the height adjust on the tonearm itself? Is that not part of it?

@duncanmatthews19774 ай бұрын
Get it to float/balance and then add weights. Or, twist it in and use a set of specially designed scales to measure the desired weight.
