I lost my screw that locks the release plate in place, Was wondering how do i get a replacement?

Check ebay or contact your retail store or supplier where to find the spares. Sometimes overseas suppliers sell third party ones for cheap.

It could possibly work when calibrated properly. The gimbal can hold quite heavy weights

new here: if the sony a7 iii has in body stabilization, why is a gimbal needed?

Good question, the in built stabilisation also fixes minor destabilising issues such as if you have a shaky hand but if you want smoother shots without much jitter you still need a gimbal. Especially if you are doing paid work.
