I also gave my beagle girl bath today. Few things that I would like to mention:- 1.Never apply shampoo directly to your pets hair, shampoo's are in concentrated form and can cause harm to your pets hair. Always dilute your shampoo and then apply. 2. Choose a shampoo that is free of SLS and paraben and the best one are no tear formula shampoos as they can be applied without the worry of getting there eyes irritated. 3. While giving a bath never put water on the head first as the pets don't enjoy that, always wash the head in the very end. 4. A pro tip, if your dog have ticks, you can make a paste of neem leaves and water apply to your dog's whole body and rinse. 5. If your dog's skin is itchy then add few teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in the water and use it while giving them bath.

My vet said "No" to any apple cider vinegar. Absolutely agree with you on not using a cloth to apply shampoo directly to the coat and one free of harmful chemicals (and absolutely zero essential oils).

Actually it's not entirely true that conditioner is not necessary for beagles. Because dogs are just like our human hair, need conditioner to maintain moisturised. Otherwise dry skin will lead to excess shedding and maybe itchiness. I learnt this from a spa therapist for dogs. Before this, my beagle sheds so much that I had to vacuum 2 to 3 times a day. Minimum 2 times. After I follow advices, adding a conditioner into shower routine, not only my beagle no longer licking his paws, but his shedding has reduced by almost 90 %! I only need to vacuum once a day. And if I decided to not to, its OK to not vacuum a day! So magical that I won't forget to condition my dog's fur/skin. But of course, the quality of shampoo/conditioner is a must, otherwise, harsh chemicals will only do bad for their skin.

I used many dog shampoo through the years and most did nothing and some of them gave him a rash. The only shampoo that works is head and shoulders human shampoo. His fru is so much thicker, shiny and all his skin problems are gone.

Whenever I turn on the water for a bath my beagle runs to the nearest human that isn't me and hopes they protect him. Then he goes full dead weight until he is in the tube, he has stopped trying to escape until he is clean from soap. do you have him on a harness? i have one with a handle on top, and I use that to gently lift him to his feet. when he stops short, which isn't often, I use encouragement and we walk back the way we came, then I lead him around to turn back the way we have to go. getting him up and walking back in the direction he wants to go gets him moving, and then I redirect with lots of praise and encouragement.

You really need to break this habit your beagle is developing....it is up to us to set the boundaries...can you take out your beagle after food & drink when his bladder will be more full...go to places that you know people take their dogs etc...lampposts.. places where there are pee dog scents...when he pees on top of this scent (to make his mark) make such a fuss of him & reward with tiny treat..keep persevering..do you have a garden? Bathe them twice a month or depending on how dirty they get and yes they shed a lot like all dogs. Remember to comb there hair daily, that will decrease shedding upto 90%. Use a furminator, this is the best tool for decreasing the shedding of hair.
