You can tell that she is a well behaved dog! She's definitely used to getting her bath! And she's so darn cute! What a sweetie! I just got my Chihuahua and she was born on April 20, 2022 so she's just over 8 weeks old, so I've been binge watching Chihuahua videos for a while now lol! I knew I was getting a Chihuahua long before I got her because I've wanted one for years and I finally found one so my mom and hubby both threw in money to buy her for my birthday! I've had her for about a week and she's already found her place in our family and she's brought us so much joy! Best birthday present that I could've asked for!

Place a folded towel on the bottom of the sink. It will keep the chi from slipping all over the place. Beautiful baby-girl.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻I agree or a soft rubber sponge like sink liner. They have some that are like bath tub mats. I have a king sized one for bathing my dogs in the tub. They won’t slip or slide on them.

If you place a towel under them in the sink the water can’t go down the drain. I do use a rubber mat with holes, in the sink

When I would bathe my own dog (a basset) I always put a bath mat into the tub not to keep him from slipping, but so he wouldn’t lay in the icky that inevitably came off. I groomed for a few years but it got too difficult due to a back injury.

You can tell the lady really takes care of the dogs by its behaviour too. He/she may be excited about being bathed but its is completely fine, no anxiety, biting, bitching. She explains everything very well

I know you can change your fur baby's behavior but it will take time. Just don't tease him, respect him, but also show him that YOU are the boss when it comes time for the bath, and anything else that must be done. Show him that he has no choice- be firm, but kind. Above all, be consistent! I wish you all the best!!!

Our Vet told us to put cotton in the ears when bathing, because water in the ears can cause a fungal infection. Also, he said to dilute any dog shampoo with warm water before applying. It makes it easier to disperse on dog's body & easier to rinse. THANKS FOR TELLING PEOPLE TO RINSE THE DOG WITH THE WATER FLOWING DOWN THE DRAIN!! Our Vet said that washing & rinsing a dog in standing water can cause the dog to get a bladder infection. This is a wonderful video!!

Angela, our Vet dispenses this information because perhaps the "typical" dog owner lacks the skills necessary to correctly hold down the ear flaps to prevent water entering the ear canal during the entire rinsing process. He has treated so many fungal ear infections that he recommends this as a precaution. He's basing his recommendations on statistical probability, research based information and his experience.

Have the same problem with his Nails and I only bathe him when it's necessary because 2 weeks is too soon to bathe as I'd like to. So he is Bathed. Every three to four weeks. He settled in the sink or we put him in the tub. for a special occasion for him. All and all hr is beautiful , lovely and beautiful with lots love. Sheryll Coe

I appreciate your good advice on taking such care to wash your Chi! HOWEVER, I must tell you that the way you squeeze her front legs together to pick her up is not a healthy choice to handle her. Her shoulder ligaments, muscles, joints and cartilage can become overstretched and weakened over time and eventually cause her pain and problems. I would find another way that is not stressful to her natural anatomy to pick her up to wash her undercarriage . She may not be yelping out in pain now because she tolerates it, but she may have problems in the future, from that repeated stressful squeezing of her shoulders.

I’ve had to start grooming my Maltipoo at home because he was coming home so stressed out the vet said that was why he had diarrhea and was pooping bright red blood. This dog rarely has loose stools. My comment is because his shoulders and angles pop on their own. I truly believe he came home stressed, not only because he was separated from me. But because his shoulders were lifted outwards and he was in pain. I would have them call me ASAP and I would wait never by to pick him up as quick as I could. But it comes down now to it wasn’t enough. Even good groomers don’t realize how little things your dog doesn’t scream about can be hard on them. Most are brave little guys.

To bath bathe her now, I'll sit on the edge of the tub with my feet in with her, have her put her front paws on the edge of the tub opposite me or she stands holding onto my leg. She's 11 months old now and I found this method much easier on her AND me to bathe her. She feels much more secure.

I’ve been a certified dog groomer for 19 years and this is the way we taught to hold a dog to wash the under carriage. So you find another way you think is better. She is not in pain and she is now 8 years old and has no issues

I think she should have placed a mat, or towel on the bottom of the cold, slippery, sink for a sense of security, and comfort. Rinse it from the dirt, when you rinse the dog. But what really got me, like almost all of these “how to wash doggy” videos, is the person says nothing to the dog. Nothing. Give praise, make him feel secure, maybe give a little treat. They’re not stuffed animals. They need, and want praise. Smile, give a little kiss on the cute snoot! Anything!

My Wife and I have 4 Chihuahuas. We pretty much do as you have shown with the exception of a dryer. Our eldest in a long coat, and using a good thick towel, we wrap her in it, and lightly rub her until fairly dry...turn her loose..and she goes from couch to chair to our bed rolling and rubbing her face...it's kinda funny! But...she gets dry!

Those Zoom Groom rubber brushes help to get a really good lather with less shampoo. They also help to get the suds out when rinsing. Have you tried them? I have a small one that works well for my Chihuahuas. Saves time & shampoo.

All my babies are good in the bath except for my Biscuit. Complete nightmare. He's so scared and will not stay in the tub. He fights the whole time. Im afraid to attempt the sink bc he is such a fighter that's a far jump from the floor that im not willing to chance. I was thinking of getting in there with him. Something I am concerned about is that someone might not have common sense and try adjusting the water with the dog in the sink and get burned. The last rinse on here shows the water being turned on in the sinks she is in. Yes it seems like everyone should have common sense. Sorry to say they don’t. I think it should be mentioned. Adjust the water in the side sink or before you get you dog in the sink. ✌🏼

I took a cat pan and cut holes one of the short sides to put in the sink so mine don’t slip and slide! The holes let the water drain. One of my Chi’s is a long hair and I give him ‘maintenance grooms’ at bath time. He lets me trim the fur around his bum so he doesn’t get cling ons! He hates being dirty so he’s just like this precious baby, so calm in the tub!

Your Chihuahua sits better for a bath than mine does. My Chihuahua is a long hair( more like medium hair) is 5 years old and is named Eve but we call her Evey. I think she is a mix from a short hair and a long hair. Her mom is a long her and we seen her but we didn't see the father as they said he lives in Mexico.

They said to have the water a little cooler then I would have it for me, I hope they were right, because I have been bathing them in more of a luke warm water and if they are wrong I feel bad now that I am bathing them a little to cool for them :(

Yes, but he's only two pounds and describes him perfectly. I had a long coated chi years ago that died of old age that was even smaller and adopted this little guy two weeks ago from the shelter. He was bruised up with a bad leg and they found him in the middle of the desert. Can't believe no one looked for him. He is around 9...an older dog.

Yes there are very small Chi's. But the word Teacup is used by some breeders to lure in buyers. So glad you found him and saved him. I own all long coated Chi's and love them to bits
