Small things you can do to improve your match results(some from this vid, some from me): 1.If the enemy DD is visible, you shoot them. Doesn't matter what class you're sailing, or what ammo you have loaded, you send them a message and shoot them. Your friendly dds will thank you. 2.Never go alone. Duh. 3.Always try form triangles with your fellow ships that followed 2. You'll have an easier time making flanking shots and crossfire situations. Also, they can't shoot all of you at once. Share the responsibility of tanking. It's a team game after all. 4.Don't pay attention to All chat/don't spam team chat. 5.Always tell your team if you see someone on the enemy team burned damage control. Especially if it was some battleship with a broken heal mechanic. They look dead for sure, and then boom, they 3d printed a second ship. 6.Don't be afraid to spend HP. It's ok to be cautious, but it's a game of pixels and numbers. Like Notser said it'll be the same repair and ammo fee at the end of the match, so use it. 7.It's not called retreating, it's called re-positioning. If you're going into a fair fight, someone has done something wrong. Don't fight battles you can't win, and don't push caps that your allied force cannot hope to win. Re-position and assist the nearest area with allies engaged in combat. 8.Pay attention to what's behind what's in front of you. 9.Take breaks. Eat lunch, have some water, watch some movies. The game will still be playable when you get back, and maybe you'll be in a better head space to play through matches with foresight. 10.Have fun. At the end of the day it is impossible to win every match. The opposite is also true. Take your victories as they come and remember that it's a team game. EVERYONE on your team contributed to your victory/defeat, even the little guy at the bottom who managed to survive but RNG didn't favor their dispersion, and the dead players who's gambits didn't pay off in the end.

Replace #10 by : Enlarge your minimap and take a look at it every 15 sec. Just doing that will make you think twice before crossing the map at the start (I wanna go A even if I spawn near C) ; And stop going A C. It’s AB or BC, 2 close caps. Simple concept. Basic.

Good advice, particularly point 10. I only disagree about no. 1 - you shouldn't do this in every situation. If you are in a DD yourself, and are still concealed, it often isn't worth breaking concealment as you are likely to take as much damage as the enemy DD does. Obviously, this will depend on the circumstances (how close both DDs are to allied ships, whether these allies are distracted, etc.).

This is a great example of people with no awareness of the greater game and no foresight or ability to think ahead. 12 minutes in with a 300 point spread, you shouldn't have people in chat just now talking about needing caps. oh, i often blame myself when i screwed up. But believe me, there are quite a few cases that were lost because, for example, 3 of the 5 ships on the flank prefered to cuddle behind an island, being utterly ineffective for most of the game until they got curbstomped

This series has tremendous potential. It's great seeing the common mistakes, just as useful, or even more useful for some players, than seeing amazing players having massive games. I hope we can have a lot more episodes in this series. I think the guy in the dd needs to cool his desire to fire his guns at everything he can. He didn't have camo, but he should have stopped firing, turned and left his position rather than staying still, shooting and then moving up to get sunk.

When the Yamato pulled back from the Daring he pulled back the Salem as well. Should have just pushed into that daring and the Salem would have followed. Position is more vital than how much damage you can do.

Of course BBs won't advance if DDs or CV don't properly spot. Getting focused by IFHE spammers especially now with the max ranged Smolensk and Bayards and Colberts is deadly. Especially at max tier. This is why it seems to me at T10 is the much more stupid gameplay most of the time because of too many dangers to consider. As a completely mediocre player I end up way too often in the upper third for my taste. Seems you can easily get to T10 and learned nothing as the video proves. So stop blaming others and always pick your own nose first.

I quite agree on prem consumables and camouflages. I’ve had many times where I forget to equip prem consumables on new ships and get sunk because of it. I get if you don’t want to equip camouflages on BBs and CVs, but for DDs and Cruisers, it’s a necessity.

Nice series! i have some additional thoughts on the two games, despite your awesome analythics :) First Game: i didn't like his position to cap. That was a very ballsy move. You should go behind the island to the left and then crawl in backwards, so that way you can get out fast. You don't wanna push around that corner without any knowledge of what sits behind. (its a known spot for cruiser) Second Game: i have so many games in a BB, trying to defend a flank but get outpushed by a single DD (and the follow up of course). No DD is willing to help and spot that bugger. And if one flank falls and the other isn't able to push (despite the fact i'm like fighting atleast one third of the enemy team) you gonna loose that game. Hunted down by DDs. At the beginning of a game, draw a line between the to teams. With its Axis in the middle of the map. That line always has to stay. It can circle around the middle, that's fine. But do everything to hold it straight. Thus said, you might have to fall back. Or NOT to push and just hold the line. And never go for two caps only, always have some eyes on the third one and be prepared to defend said line. That's all my humble opinion so correct me if i'm wrong =)

In my opnion there are more important things than premiums, like looking at the # minimap, support the team and be prepared to kite the enemy if you have to. Jes, premiums can give you a advange, no i would never let my ship swim around naked. But in the end all that matters is how well you fit in your team.

@@grimmshredsanguinus2915 An AP pen does more dmg than a HE pen, you can get citadels, and if a broadside enemy shows up you have the right ammo type loaded. A Yama should only shoot load HE when he's 95%+ sure he will shoot a DD (not Khaba or Harugumo) or a nose in Stalin/Moskva/soviet BB (because these have 50/60mm nose armor), Kurfurst has such bad firing angles he'll show broadside eventually if it's a mediocre player like me

Sorry, don't really see the Salem being justified here. Of all the ships on that flank, the last one that would be pushing into into a DD would be a Yamato, even GK has a decent hydro. What happened here was Yamato taking Salem's play into account thinking he would do his job, but the Salem threw him off his expectations twice which lead to him wasting a lot of his time adjusting his course. I'm not saying he was doing everything right because he really could've got more into the enemies face when he decided to turn to the other flank, but teammates like the Salem that betray their duty in imminent situations really is a stab in the back that would throw their own team off and cause untrustworthy.

When I play, i try to use and ensure maximum effectiveness of my ship, and shot anyone I can but prioritize those thay dangerous, wheter its a dd or a bb, prioritizing will gave the team a breathing room. And oh yeah, retreating doesnt mean giving up, its just tactical repositioning and healing

Notser being quite harsh, I completely agree with all the points raised. But the trade off is that pushing in against 2 dds in a yamato is asking to be torped, he was quite up for it pushing quite hard initially - the moment it all fell apart was when the Salem failled to radar. The Salem actually did radar and shot at the dds later but had decided to abandon that flank. I'm not sure I'd have wanted to push into two darings in a yamato - I'd probably have done it but wouldn't be surprised if I got torped to death or I might have done what he did and tried to relocate to the other flank although he could have been more aggressive with that move - he was rather non-comital about it - asking people to help his div mate whilst he didn't:-)!

Nosters point was the lack of communication, i didnt get that he expected the Yamato to flank alone, the Yamato expected the Salem to radar on command and when he didnt decided the Salem "was worthless".

That Yamato "Platinum" never stops bleating on and on and on in chat rather than concentrating on the game. As a result he's always behind the curve and failing to take advantage of player mistakes on the enemy side. His failure to deal with the Dd is his fault. By not reacting to it, he shows he's incapable of thinking as a winning team player. He keeps beeing static and being the one responding to disaster rather than making the enemy player react.

On the whole Premium Consumables: I get pretty much all of my stock out of the three XP containers. I don't always get all 3, but each one will have 3 Damage Con guaranteed. I also sell what I can from my inventory (stock ship modules for example) to keep my credits up for camo and consumables when I need.

My biggest pet peeve. At 2:35 he used torp reload booster when the torps only have 7 seconds left on the reload. What a waste. If you are not going to use the reload properly and you refuse to run camo, why would you risk it NOT running smoke? With a camo and CORRECT use of torp reload booster, he probably could have killed the Alsace and severely damaged the Izumo, if not killed them both.

The Yamato match is really indicative of a much bigger issue with this game. There is far too much incentive on big damage numbers and not nearly enough on working together to win. Most of the BBs would rather focus on enemy BBs to farm for high damage scores, rather than focus on Cruisers and DDs to win the game.

Years ago I was sailing my Seal Clubber, Minekaze. Arrogance took me to engage a 1v1, i should easily win... except we had not detected the other 3 ships with my target. Well I found them and nearly shit myself. I could have handled a 1v2 but not 1v4, just not enough HP or torpedo tubes. An Omaha was near and rescued me. Full HP down to 57 hp and a sinking Omaha. He got my compliments and I instructed our team to give him compliments. 57hp and 120K and 6 kills with a narrow victory. The 4 I ran from, never did get in position to flank the rest of my team and I made them pay for dumping multiple volleys into an Omaha and not the closer but running away 57 hp DD. Kill the DDs and be willing to Soak damage for your team. More so when you are aware of the more lethal teammates, keeping them alive just might be the MVP save of the game. More $$$$$ and xp in a Win and as stated, you already paid for your ship regardless of 100% or 0% HP at the end.

You know Notser, what I find to be the problem lately is that people DONT know what they want to do.... Indont think people are stupid, they just really don’t know how to respond to even the most basic situations..... like “there is a DD - shoot the DD” that does not work anymore.... or thinking ahead into the game “what do I do if the flank I chose has no enemies on it” people don’t realize that then you have to push it, or come back to the other flank and support it. You should have said more about map awareness in my opinion. Platinum missed a great chance to shoot at the Mino around 8:05. Same goes for the Darings (as you said before), but he's not even looking at them. Especially as a BB and DD you need to know where everyone is at any time. Keep up that kind of videos and maybe some day I won't be reported for telling a Musashi that it is useless to have 100k hp and 30km range without spotter xD

I agree with your advice, but I think you have to keep in mind that more often then not, it's a free to play game and people arent going to care to win unless if they're really dedicated to their stats or they're part of a good clan. With regards to planning an attack, I can't count the multiple times I'm in my GK and see that the enemy is going to lemming train and we are being stalled. I tell everyone the situation and that we need to push and focus fire, but alas no one listens. I would be really interested to see if people who have clout in the game i.e. you, Jingles, etc. have easier times on average of getting at least some of the team to listen more often then not compared to just normal players.

i sail mostly fiji and neptune and find that the rushing out part is often necessary because too many DDs dont know what they're doing or they go off on holiday cruise away from the action. if a DD doesnt know their job, it ripple effects the whole line.

Well sometimes BB are very annoying. When it's already 5 or 10 mins in the game and the BBs still fire from max distance without supporting with their large HP pool or trying to split / flank the enemies. BBs are not there to hide behind soft armored ships and snipe - many BB guns doesn't even hit much on distance. If they're after 5 or 10 minutes still behind the same island or misles away without making an impact on the game i also loose patience when i play a cruiser. Some BB even stay so far away from the enemy that cruiser could do nothing if they sould stay with them (what they ideally should). So it's a two sided thing. There are so many BBs that are half sleeping in this game at the moment that do nothing useful, camp miles away with full HP until the end of the game and blame everybody else.

@@Leif_YT one of the issue's with bb's pushing is just how strong he is in game currently. I had a game a couple of days ago in my GK, 3 minutes into game time I was spotted by dd's and I took 120,000 damage worth of he from ships 17km away in 1 minute while angled to reduce hits.

@@jacobgriffiths8448 Depending on the Level some are really strong, but waiting usually also doesn't really help. Like don't get me wrong there are also many good BB players and i don't expect BBs to stupidly rush forward, but sometimes (especially mid tier) i've the feeling that some BB players picked BBs because they thought they're the easiest class (have only the goal to do damage in their opinion) and survive the longest. While in reality BBs can have a huge impact strategy wise like forcing enemies to split and show broadside to mates, or to push them out of good positions or to make the life a little bit easier for DDs and Cruisers by taking some damage / weapon focus or pushing their enemies further away. If BBs stay so far away and concealed from the enemy to just avoid damage it means on the other side that all enemies will focus on the weak cruisers and dd that sometimes need to get a bit closer to support a DD or get into a position where they can actually do something. Or for example the New Mexico or Colorado. They're such incredible slow ships at their tier that hit nothing on distance, but in close combat they're pretty strong and get the enemy in big trouble. When i see players trying to shoot with them from almost 16km distance or driving at the border of the map so they would take forever to get to the other caps if the team needs support there it's extremely frustrating to watch. Luckily that isn't reality in every match but it can get so annoying and frustrating.

The camo I agree with but, I don't know with second game, I would class that as a good match for average player in Yamato these days. If you try and push at all which I like to do in Kurfurst secondary build, Along comes the HE spam from half the enemy team and you are dead within the first 6 minutes of the game. Then you have to sit there and watch the next 10 minutes. Yeah you can claim about situational awareness but that's not always the case most of the time especially with carriers keeping you spotted. You either push and get wiped or you sit back and snipe, That is the state of the game 7 times out of 10. Also I have had matches where I push in as BB and then the team bails at the first sign of trouble and then I get left to burn out. It's even worse now with Smolensk, No BB's want to push in and would rather just farm damage win or lose. How to improve the game over all, Reduce fires chance for all ships to encourage large ships to push. Basically a lot of captain skill points not used at all now as you have to build for fire reduction. Random is exactly that, Some games will be a complete wipe while others will have you landing every shot and getting 8 citadels a game, Unfortunately for average player it will be around 50% or less of getting a great game.

insanity ur exactly right..im not gonna exaggerate when i say this..but every game i played tonight, i lost probably 6 straight games playing different ships..but the common theme that ive noticed is 2 things..So WOWS is supposed to be a team oriented game correct..ok thats established..Well then can sumbody tell me then why in every game ive played including ranked there absolutely no communication going on except sum time at the beginning of the game sumbody will type 2 letters..A B or B C..and thats the gist of the communiucation..i dont kno how one who clearly wants to win is in battles game in and game out with people who dont understand what the objective and they dont understand what their job is in their part to the team..and that is why ur getting almost every game lopsided ga,es..rarely are they ever close..almost never..now this is my experiences in the game in just the last week..ive noticed u either have the really good player and they tend to get paired together against me more than im getting paired with more good players than bad..mayb there is jus more bad players i dont kno..buti dont see how one can carry a team in those circumstance..well ill say im not good enough anyway..but even if i was sumwhat able to do that i find it really hard with these casts of players in the game now..I understand WG its abusiness..but if u want ur player base to last and if u care about the quality of the game youve created(mayb u dont) then there needs to be sum kind of tutorial with say a popular CC's voiceover and walking u through the basics ..all u get as of now is to start off playing bots..but that does nothing to ready u for the game..and when ur new u still dont understand basic game mechanics..and i think that an interactive tutorial explaining these things while u the new player has to move ur mouse and hit the correct key to accomplish said task.Mayb this has already been addressed i dont kno..but the current tutorials are great dont get me wrong..but alot of em leave u with more questions than answers..such as how complicated calculation penetrations..anyways sry Notser for using your video as a rant on the quality of the game according to my opinion but ur video along with comments and jus experiencing this tonight got me aggravated..and its because i wasnt able to play in one competitive match..cause half my team is dead in the first 5 mins of the game..and they say that im hiding when i cap and i stay concealed to them thats hiding..thats how i kno theres a disconnect with the level of whats going on and how much is known..for whatever reason

Almost full hp and 5 heals left.. this kind of BB gameplay is what made my Wr drop 1% recently.. They are so fast with retreating if they ever even get closer to the enemy. I don't take any excuses here. :]

Last game I played I sunk 6 of them in that one game. I’m starting to gain the want to play PvP the more I play. Teammates holding fire till your dead so they can confirm the kill.... Welcome to my average game! The only time my team usual fires on a target engaged with is when they are at 5% or less health, and I can here the "MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!" across the map. T_T

True, therefore I make sure my salvos do the worst they can. Good positioning and proper target selection is therefore extremely important. Make any hit as devastating as possible and try not to engage battels u can't win. Div up so u can be sure at least someone is willing to help you out ;D

I'm a terrible player, but my justification not to shoot at DDs over 12km away is terrible dispersion (esp. in the German bb's I'm currently using) and the 30 second reload time. So if I have a very low percentage to hit shot, I normally shoot something else.

Arnon Lokitsataporn well it’s not just about practice, it’s that dispersion is at the will of the RNG gods. So it’s that much harder to hit a small target like a dd at range if you’ve also gotta fight bb dispersion.

if i'm that Yamato , i'd push that daring with the divisioned daring. I think part of the problem here is players fail to forecast upcoming events or plan ahead.

Yeah, that's why you division up. The Yamato was far too passive and should have sat at the cap tanking damage for his team. Instead he sat at the back complaining.

I’m curious... I’ve been playing this now for little over a month. And, it seems to me that the largely used strategy seems to be.... nothing. So many just sit back and wait while the action unfolds. Is this normal? I play as a BB. The Iowa, to be specific. And it feels like I have to just sit and do nothing or try to push and die. I’m open to any suggestions.

That Yamato is like the real life one. Spent most of its time miles from anywhere important while spamming messages. He and the Salem could easily have dealt with that Daring. Yet he turns broadside to where he knows the Daring is and sails away. Granted, he does ask Salem for support and gets no reply (if on Asia server he could receive boxes as answers; seeing that brought back bad memories), but waaay too late. The Salem was already turning away, just as he himself was, by the time he asked. Salem could just as easily be thinking he's going to be left in the lurch by a BB that runs away, not exactly an unknown experience. At the end he comments "Another game lost". Well if he plays like that most of the time, I suspect he loses plenty. I'm not feeling much sympathy, however.

Similiar to this is when in a cv and ships say spot for them or need AA protection, and just as you finally get the torp run you need to kill a ship you mostly damaged, they shoot it dead when they were mainly focused elsewhere

1. Do not run into islands 2. Flame DDs and CVs at the start 3. After one player has lost his ship on your team write and i repeat this only once "gg noob team" 4. Weekly payments to wg keep the sigma high so always charge some spare gold 5. Do yourselves a favour and stop playing this game entirely 6. If you have a stock ship, don't play it like you are Admiral Bull Halsey's long lost ghost commanding the USS Enterprise capable of dominating the map by yourself. Not going to happen. I think it comes down to play experience. Too often I suspect ppl are trying to rush through the tech tree without getting a solid footing before they advance. It's why I still see ppl launching deep water torps at other destroyers, people activating their consumables from the spawn point (yeah that hydro is going to be real useful back there) when there aren't "secret objectives" active.... do we still get those? It's been awhile for me, or sailing total broadside to the entire enemy fleet in a cruiser or battleship (only time I do that is in my French DD's because I'm trying to bait them out while leading the enemy into crossfire traps. They usually can't hit me and when they do, it's an overpen or saturated hit so I'm still chugging along)

I think the premium heal is not worth enough on tier 9 or 10. Its gonna cost you 25k to have 5 heals instead of 4 but on hoe many games are you using more than 3 or 4? Maybe once every 5 games but thats already 125k for that single game.

Its unsurprisingly amazing how most players wont engage a spotted DD. Probably because they dont to get spotted super early. If I see a DD, and its within mid range of my cruiser... its gonna die. Screw not being spotted.

Yeah, help the team, play to win, all that stuff. When I get out my Richelieu, I get thrown into T10 match where everyone decides I'm the best tanker ... The most ridiculous situation was when a Musashi, instead of setting a crossfire on a cap as I suggested, followed me around. Or when, as the low tier New Mex, I had to run towards what I knew a wall of torps, because no one bothered to defend the base ... Why should I play the dirty part no one wants to do, and apparently no one cares ? Why can't I have fun and get at least a decent damage game ? Sorry for the salt, but this weekend was horrible for me, to the point I am seriously considering quitting the game. I know I am a bad player, but how can I improve when all the games are stomps / early return to port because I'm getting insanely focused as I'm the only one playing team ?

At the point where they spotted that Daring the first time, he turned around and ran with his tail between his legs. What he should have done is go straight at him and get his div mate to come in the flank. The daring might have hit him with 1 or 2 torps but he would be dead. End of debate. The Yamato played like most do, borderline humping whales...

True but at the same time false. I guarantee that if the Yamato had pushed and he had died from a swarm of torps then everyone here in the comments would be STILL calling him a noob who sniffs lead paint. Doesn't matter what he did, the toxicity of people ALWAYS blames other people. You are correct in that the correct play was for him to push into that Daring BUT if that Daring was only a half good dd player it would have been the end of the Yamato. Basically people are calling for a sacrificial lamb here. As long it isn't them then they are all good with sacrificing a team mate so they can get better positioning, more damage and kills. In such a tight space with the Yamato there is no way he could have dodged the swarm of torps that would have been launched his way. Do you have any idea how expensive a Yamato is to play? I frequently get negative 50 to 100k credit battles because the ammo and repair is ludicrously expensive. I don't run premium. Can't afford it. Bottom line is he found himself in a horrible position with unreliable team mates against a dd which was holding a superior position with no way of him being able to avoid obliteration unless he turned around. Sure, by doing so he isn't helping the already bad situation but by surviving he might just be able to save the day and win the battle somewhere else. It's a judgement call.

All 9 and 10 games are lopsided lately with one team having 8 or more players like yourself and the other has at least as many with sub 41% overall WR who just play the game to see the floaty things. I have seen destroyers go off and hide in a corner and just sit there until the enemy team has taken all the bases and has sunk 5 ships to our 0.
