Hey all! After I uploaded this, I realized that I've been using the term "T-shaped person" for so long that I neglected to fully define it. Essentially, a T-shaped person is someone who has deep expertise in one (or a few areas), PLUS a broad array of shallower knowledge in lots of other areas. Here's an entire article on my site that goes more in-depth on the concept: collegeinfogeek.com/become-t-shaped-person/ Also, this video was primarily researched and written by my friend Martin Boehme, who co-hosts our podcast: kzbin.info - you can also follow him on Instagram: instagram.com/yomartholomew/ If you want to learn more about Leonardo da Vinci's life and what made him successful, check out our 75-minute episode about him (it's basically an extended version of this video): kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6jIc4OXqrySqKM Finally, I want to give a shout-out to my friends at Charisma on Command for the fill-in-the-blank idea, which they let me shamelessly steal. Check their channel out: kzbin.info

How to be a "Genius" (or at least really smart): Have interests, be curious and observant, and then ardently pursue those curiosities, especially the ones that interest you the most, and learn, learn, learn. New answers present more questions to look into for more answers; so you can dive deeper into any curiosity, really. If an interest is lost in a topic, or if it feels like you've hit rock bottom with the curiosity you were previously interested in, that's normal as we change everyday. However, you might find new interesting curiosities, especially if you broaden your range and ways of living and learning. You could travel, read books, watch educational videos, become a protege, return to school and along the way, cultivate your imagination or train your mind to come up with new questions and answer those questions which seemed impossible to fathom, before. There is always something new to learn about the universe, whether it be internal or external. *The most important thing, I believe, is getting to know yourself, your desires, your interests, your curiosities and really, becoming a friend of yourself so that you can know yourself to the extent that you have an idea of what direction you want to focus your mental energy towards. Doing so, I think, can potentially eliminate any procrastination with what you may believe to be your passion because that's what really separates the "Geniuses" from the ordinary folk (The self knowledge, the passion, the focus, and the work).* It takes time as no one is born a genius and no one can know everything... Even so, everyone can become a master at something and I think that the people we call "Geniuses" were masters of curiosity and, possibly, imagination as well. *They used methods unique to themselves* to acquire vast databases of knowledge and in doing so consistently, their imaginations were empowered to go where no ordinary individual's mind could go. Ordinary people called them "Geniuses", but they're just as ordinary as anyone else lol. Over time, having gained knowledge and/or wisdom, cultivate your imagination and you might realize you know a lot more than you did before! Go master your passion and then find other interesting things to learn or something else to master. I agree with Einstein when he said imagination is more important than knowledge but you need knowledge to empower the imagination. Become a master of the thing you love to do because you only have one life and the time is ticking, my friend; you don't want to end up old and live in the past, ruminating over the things you could've done that would've let you be happy in your lifetime. Or, just live in ignorance and be happy, haha😄 *For the curious, ignorance is not bliss*

Not sure what qualifies you to become a polymath. As I know, it is someone that knows a lot from a variety of fields. Sometimes is hard to know when to draw a line. What you are saying is probably that society tends to look for specialized personnel rather than someone that knows a little bit about everything. But, well, I think you should probably become specialized on something and, after that, digg more into that and other interests such as hobbies, you can extend your repertoire. Probably choosing a career that involves multidisciplinary skills is the way to go. Good luck to you!

Work Hard beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Dream big and work hard. The only genius that is worth anything is the genius for hard work. Hi guys! Would just like to share our journey with you. 😀 We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. We just graduated college as well. We started a cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. We were living in our car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

I have a collection of writings from Leonardo Da Vinci. His own words, translated to English. Here are a few things that I want to add, based on those writings. 1. He did want to become famous. Early in life around his 20s, he wrote that he did want to become famous. To be remembered for creating something impressive. He also said he thought he would achieve that by developing flying machines. 2. He studied nature from early age. Most of his young life, as a child and teenager, were spent walking in nature. He would look closely at everything. The flowers. The birds. The clouds. The rivers. He spent lots of time observing, studying nature in action. Those many hours, days, years resulted in a vast amount of direct knowledge. We can also see those details in many of his drawings. These direct studies also led to ideas about natural processes and mechanics of motion. 3. He knew how to flatter his patrons. He wrote about this. Basically, you find out what they want, and tell them how you can deliver it too them. He also wrote about how to tell when the potential patron seems to be bored, and quickly move to another idea before you lose total interest. 4. Italy at the time was many small kingdoms. Run by kings and merchants of various types. He knew that they wanted fame and power. Thus, the two best selling points were battle machines, to defeat your opponent, and paintings which would glorify the family. And that's what they bought. 5. He classified himself as a "painter" first. Also, for him drawings were far more important than words. He wrote this several times. With a detailed drawing or painting, you could convey far more than any pages of text. I agree, and when I write my science books, I create numerous drawings for this same reason. There are many other interesting things from this collection of notes. Those are just a few.

Regarding energies, he talked about the processes of energies as "violence and death". Violence is essentially the objects in motion, the movement of the river, and so on. The "death" is when objects are still, at rest. The phrasing is interesting. Perhaps related to the fighting city-states of the era.

Thank you, and to be a genius is to be simple. Rule #1 DO NOT TELL A LIE. Always be honest. Your brain literally changes when you start telling the truth, and you start seeing the truth. Life becomes easier and you become peaceful, fear disappears.

😂😂 you are disillusioned. Think. If you told the truth all the time sure you will be right all the time and honesr all the time. How many people will you be honest enough for them not get mad at you. People hate people who tell the truth all the time. You tell the truth until you start to tell dangerous truths. Ask socrates

Seriously not trying to be a jerk, but I haven't watched your videos in a little bit and this was by far the least panic inducing one I've ever seen on this channel. My anxiety is a bit wild so it's just me, but I really like that you aren't talking at 100 mph as well as the chill background music. This was actually really relaxing, informative, and enjoyable.

imo the learning curve has a logarithmic profile: you learn a lot in very few time at the very first steps, but then, going deeper and deeper, even a tiny improvement may costs you years. Maybe this is the reason why so many people love to learn all sort of skills: knowledge is one very good reason to walk this earth :)

Love this video. I came out as a ambidextrous artest last year I'm also an accomplish catfisherman and qualified for worlds in archery.. . But just like DaVinci my gift is my flaw makes it hard for me to hold a job I don't like authority I can't just turn off my creativity and I jump from subject to subject all day I push to open my mind I got like 5 different paintings and pincel are going i fill like there is no end to one project so there no way to finish a project. I always give people credit for there work and never tell a lie... True genius only lies behind the truth...

Hmm, while it's certainly nice to think that your best work is always ahead of you and you'll continue to get better and better with each project...that just doesn't seem to be the case, at least not for me. Many of my older past projects, across a full range of different areas, have turned out much better than my more recent projects. I can live with that. But I don't always expect to exceed, or even be able to meet, the same standards I set in the past. Linear progression is a lovely concept, but my journey at least seems to be characterized more by peaks and valleys.

Really true point around perfectionism and setting constraints. Be OK with slight imperfections, there will always be room for improvement. I'll add that once you've completed a project, treat yourself! Even a chocolate bar can do wonders :)

Maybe the problem isn't the desire. It might be that you simply need to organize what you want to prioritize. That's the main issue I have been having.
