How To Be A GOOD TEAMMATE In Sports

The most exciting part about sports is that teams with the most talent don't always win. That's because there are many intangible qualities required to be successful in team sports. I've narrowed it down to 6 essential qualifies that I've observed that applies not just to volleyball, but all sports as well. Learning how to be a good teammate increases your chances of winning and makes the experience much more enjoyable for everyone.

Our weakness as a team is actually team spirit, so even tho we’re all players with high potential we tend to choke a lot of games. Me and two others are really trying to lighten up the mood and be supportive of each other but the others don’t listen or don’t try the same and are always pessimistic.

well, it's true, but you cant play with people who doesn't want to commit to the game, they dont practice, they dont put themselves in pain during games, they just cant play and just want to HAVE FUN, I left a team like that before, I cant even be friends with them in general. I tried to help but they always think that they are better......its hard man

Bro, this hits home for me. I'm watching this video because I was on an indoor team for a co-ed league, my first league ever. I have played volleyball for four months straight skipping maybe one or two days a week to rest and they all just wanted to have fun during the game. And now they've cast me aside for wanting to be competitive and some of the people I was friends with before. I never said anything mean to them or anything but they just weren't committing themselves to the game the same way I was so I could only do so much.

Well i live in a small town so we don't even have enough players to play and forget about them being serious they are exactly the same sa you described above but I can't leave them because they are the only people whom I have convinced to play (as a timepass for them )during school's free but I have not given up yet what I m thinking is to atleast practice so that I can somehow get into a team when I start college but I really really wanna play

i remember watching a volleyball game long time ago and one of the teams made mistakes and they kept high fiving and hugging each other and i was like did I miss out something?? like they clearly missed what are they hugging for?? I never played sport in a team so I was a little bit irritated of how happy they looked even when doing mistakes. i watch games like volleyball/football/tennis and basketball, but i never saw people hugging and doing high fives as often in other sports as in volleyball, few years after i kinda now understand why they do that .

Thank you very much about this video ! It's what I learn by playing one mounth with greater players that me in Japan. I actually live in France and have some issue with my team about team spirit. I do my best in being positive and supportive, but the main problem in the team is because we have a coach/player yelling : making relevent comment about position or else but yelling it on the court. I think, I will share the video to all my teammate although I am little affraid to offend the coach..

I like your video. It changed my perspective in a lot of ways. I’m the captain of my team and most of them are not really that “good”. My point is, I tend to yell them several times that they don’t do this and that and that it affected their playing game and it affected mine as well! So frustrating. I’m gonna apply these points later. Thank you. PS: I hope you could make a video that has a pointer for right-handed opposite players. I always tend to overshoot my spikes and I’m picky with the sets given to me. More power! Love from Ph 💕

the clip at 8:22, did that team contact the ball 4 times and not get called on it? Edit: looking back, I can see that after the first contact a blocker on the other team tried to push the ball back down, resetting the rally.

@dannylam4932
@dannylam4932 4 жыл бұрын
that doesnt make sense, but if you're talking about the receiving being off target then depending on ur lvl (can you hit b quicks, a quicks, 3 balls and meters etc) then get in to a position accordingly to those attacks. Or if its on net and off centre, just run up towards the setter for a quick or meter where ever it is along the net if it doesnt get in the way of another spiker's approach. You could also scream out FREE! to get a high set in the middle where your pure skill will get the point. if the ball is recieved really shitty to the point u cant attack, then make sure u cover the spiker in case he gets blocked!

When we play volleyball in PE class I often tend to tell my friends the mistakes they're making. For example telling them they're almost always giving the ball back to the oponent, even though you can have 3 moves in an attack, standing too back for receive, not blocking and just watching the ball etc... And when I tell them that, almost every time they get angry. Maybe I was being too demanding or something like that, but all I want is for my teammates to perform well and concentrate a little bit.
@basedyapper
@basedyapper 5 жыл бұрын
maybe try telling them about how you truly feel about their performance and maybe they might truly appreciate your advice , plus you just watched this video about being a good teammate so maybe you are really trying hard to be one.
@foka.3kai

Bro, listen to what he said, before criticising you have to gain their trust as a teammate. Theyll just tilt if you tell them every mistake over and over again, you have to focus more on positive stuff, or say something like great effort and shit like that, not tell them something negative even if you win.

A little less coaching oriented, but could you make a video of where to watch pro volleyball (it might just be because I live in the uk) but I can’t find pro volleyball videos, I can only find national games but the camera quality is always so juttery so it’s hard to watch I would like to watch live volleyball, preferably, because when it’s live you care less about the camera quality

There are two professional beach volleyball KZbinrs called the McKibbin Brothers who have really good content. They mainly do beach volleyball videos, but many of their tutorials can translate to indoor too. I'd highly recommend watching them because they really know what they're talking about (not that Donny doesn't), but they are professional.

Because it can be blocked by the setter or the middle.It’s just not a smart move,it’s way better to pass it to the setter who can use more of his attackers and to be harder for the opposite team to block.
