As much as I want to root for them, being an esports player, especially in SG is hard. You have to take into the account of 2 years of NS, where you are at your prime and you wouldn’t be able to participate in competitions. Wasting 2 years is much better to invest in player of different nationality.

Not sure if everyone here knows ML stuff but I can explain. So before PC gamers coming right in at me saying I'm a kid playing just ML. I am not, I play what I like and ML is one of them. Feel free to ask what PC games I have in the reply. Zxuan is special in this case. Just like in the video, his favourite hero is Fanny, for those who are not familiar with Fanny, her second skill makes you fly around just like the one shown in the video. The thing that he mentioned about knowing the map is more like knowing the angle of the wall, the space and the curve. The angle and the space can decide where you land or when you attack. The curve can trap your opponent in a tiny space and let you spam her 2nd skill to full potential. Not many fanny users or top players does what Zxuan does. The skill cap required is so high that even a 4 year veteran in ML who has no experience with Fanny could not handle her at all. So most of the times techniques are developed and vary individually which made them deadly in their own way. Most top players doesn't like to share that skill set cause of fear of competition or immitation to surpass them. So they don't usually stream with Fanny. Zxuan however just love to stream with Fanny which gives people more insight to learn and see how she can be used. That's a huge bonus because normal streamers doesn't really take a hero that requires a lot of dedicated time to practice. So they tend to move to a easier role like marksman, mages and fighters (even in ML no one wants to pick tank. Like seriously. I was forced into that role😭) Seeing a pro fanny player live streaming is rare and that's why he can easily be famous.

It's marketing gimmick. These gamers call themselves pros, but let's be honest. They are company mascots. The only reason they are receiving much fanfare and investment now is because the corporations are testing if this will take off. Paying for these school dropouts is just a drop in their marketing budget. Once they realize no one really cares about a bunch of speckys hunched over a phone for four hours, they'll move on, probably to VR athletes.
