Our restaurant contracted with UberEats to provide service for our patrons. UberEats has some of the most incompetent, rude, and unhelpful customer service representatives I have ever encountered. Across the board, these semiliterate, outsourced support representatives are nearly useless.
@bsxboy
@bsxboy 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, because they're sadly outsourced, meaning they don't specialize in anything. The customer service is shared between restaurants, drivers, customers ... First line of support only needs to answer basic questions and resolve "stupid" issued but they can't do anything else. And they're not supposed to ...

This is a myth. Uber places only the fast food chains at the top of the available choices. These pay "sponsor" fees ( besides the delivery fee) and UBER asks you to do the same or end up at the bottom.

Do restaurants have to confirm an order on the app before a delivery driver is dispatched? I have friends who are Uber Eats drivers and they say when they turn up to a restaurant sometimes restaurants haven't even started cooking and they have to wait 20 to 30 minutes. One delivery driver turned up to a restaurant that had been closed all day. Does that mean Uber assumes a restaurant is making an order with no confirmation?

This is becoming a very popular model now. The founder of uber started a new company cloudkitchen, that provides white glove services to home based cooks with a commercial kitchen and the logistics. you should take a look at that.

I'm interested on perhaps you doing a followup on everything you've covered in this video, now that there are commission caps in certain states for these online ordering platforms and also the fact that our new normal is to social distance and the implications this has with restaurant owner relationships towards these online ordering/delivery apps now. Do you think most of your points in this video still hold true given the current climate of affairs, especially the bit about converting online delivery customers to long-term in-store customers? Most places are still not offering in-store dining due to social distancing regulations. Many customers still feel cautious even to walk out their door. And hiring your own in-house delivery person on a more full-time basis is going to eat into a store's own profit-margins. Many stores are also only take-out to begin with. Do you have a solution to these issues?
@WilsonKLee
@WilsonKLee 4 жыл бұрын
things will platuea sooner or later. human crave personal interaction, so dining in is not ever going to go away. its a matter of time before things go back to a new normal. just look at asia countries as example. that means now is even more important for you to "train" your customers to read your messages and notes that you leave in the deliveries, so when timing is right, you can convert them into dine in. as for hiring your own driver - this is feasible given volume. check out my interview with mark canlis, his staff delivers 1500 meals PER day....

I used doordash for free for 3 months cause they just came in to our area. There are lots of cons and few pros. Cons are our servers are so busy getting phone calls, packing the to go orders taking less care of dine in customers cause they are so busy. No tips since doordash gets the tip. Delivery service charges so much to us but to customers as well. They charge 25% to us, customers pay for delivery fee, service fee 18% and tips. I personally didn’t like it but it does give good exposure. So like Wilson said its not to bring in more income/ profit its more for people to see you.

I’m one of those people that works takeout and from experience I really hate these third party delivery services. The loyalty has dwindled so much and I’ve seen so many of my regulars turn to these apps. We make nothing off of them and the drivers can be very rude. I am interested in NOT owning a restaurant. I want to use Uber from an approved kitchen to deliver my food and to create awareness of my products. You are saying that this would lead to bankruptcy. I wonder if it's possible to have a menu of items that are low cost to make but of high price value, and then add the 30% delivery fee to the price, to ensure profitability. I guess I am asking if Uber and the like can ONLY be used as a marketing tool, never a profit producing service??

February 7, 2020, Hi, we open this month our Burger Shop, and like you I study all the ways to avoid to sale fries, for many reasons, to much work, high risk hot oil, to much heat in the kitchen, our place are very, very small, and after see so many videos I found out that originally when burgers start, they was served with a pickle and POTATO CHIPS FROM A BAG or home made, in that moment I start asking many people, would you feel right to order a great burger with a potato chips as side, and almost everybody said, !!! YES !!!, is nice because I open one bag at the time, then they are always fresh and also ad a 2 onz dip for the chips, Here in canada I buy $ 0.65 bag of potato chips classic that give me 3 generous portions, NO BAD, because I do nothing to prepare that, no peal, no chop, no fried, no oil, no machine, no time to prepare, to buy it, etc. In my personal opinion this was the lifesaver of my burger shop, we offer 4 kinds of dip's= Mayo chipotle, Guacamole, Fresh Salsa, Hummus, and we charge for. I wish you the best, Happy 2020, MAKE MONEY $$$$$$$$$

It depends on your state and city. I know a Indian Restaurant that really successful in Chicago that was ran out of a home. They shut her down and she had to turn it into a Supper Club. My advice would be to find out your local regulations. If you can't run it out of your house, find the cheapest spot available to rent. I run three different virtual restaurants out of one kitchen. No pickups only delivery. Use these apps to build your brand and then hire your own drivers on a per delivery rate. You can use them at different times of the year to build new customers. This was the best thing. I ever did. I am starting to move away from them all together maybe once or twice a year model. As you can put together a pretty good social media campaign for less than what they are charging. Also remember you aren't building your brand, you're building theirs. Email list, text list, all of that the company keeps.

These apps aren't worth it. These apps should only be used for marketing. Also for short periods of time. I use them 3 times a year. I always put coupons in the bag with a discount to order from my website. Although, I run a different business model, in that I run three different virtual restaurants out of one kitchen. No pick up only delivery. It was much cheaper to hire delivery drivers on a per delivery basis. I charge 4 dollars a delivery. The delivery driver gets that fee and tips.

Hi, great content and amazing advice. I'm currently in the process of building a food delivery app in a totally ready yet under served market, using the order and delivery model. Kindly advice me on the best way to raise funding for such a venture at the same time protect my idea. Thank you.

Uber eats is charging outrageous fees on top of paying membership fees and then when you still pay extra for priority and it does not come within allotted time they refuse to refund your priority fee with bs excuse that it’s so they don’t take any other orders with yours. That may be true but at the end of the day they are charging you so much! That they should just refund it or at least let you cancel your order and refund your order out of their pocket. Just rectify your customers situation. With these types of fees, slow delivery time should NOT be the customer’s problem. I canceled my membership and deleted the app. So should everyone else. Uber eats needs to be put in their place. And as a driver if you’re not happy with your tips, take it up with Uber Eats and their fees.

Uber eats DOES NOT give you exposure UNLESS you already have a big audience. My restaurant appears AT THE BOTTOM of the Uber platform because only the businesses who get A LOT OF CUSTOMER REVIEW get a little higher up. It,'a a myth that UBER works for you. YOU are working to make money for UBER. They ask for more money if you want to move higher up to where all the major fast food chains appear!

Hey Jason, for the specific taxation, i usually don't deal with that. the best bet is to confirm with your 3rd party agent to see what their regulations are. I don't work for ubereats, so i don't have their specifics.

Wow when this dude teaches that hiring your own driver fleet is such a bad thing I’m scared that others think like him because if they were in charge they’d chop off all the drivers positions for their greed of making money. Dude u seem very cold and money hungry and those drivers you don’t want to deal with you act like you and your followers are major corporations when in fact your aficionados. Lastly there’s a reason why companies hire drivers and that’s responsibility. A lot of the fly by night business who subcontract drivers fail because there is no accountability.
