Chris this video is excellent! I've been watching a lot of video about the other side of magic after you've learned the techniques and now want to take it to the world -- and even though your video is only 6mins long and only about finding the Location it's a WINNER! Great stuff, man. Loved it. Can't wait for more! You're a good teacher.

You did street magic to help yourself through college?I really just have a whole new respect for you Chris.
@VanishingIncMagic13 жыл бұрын
@DazzlingDoudini Not sure. You should get the number of your local police station (not 911) and ask them what kind of restrictions they have on street performers.

thank you so much for your advice I was just terminated from my job due to business been so slow and my friend just gave me the idea to do street magic... I have been a hobbyist magician for the last two years performing at friends birthday parties and churches kid's bible summer schools but really not making any money i was just doing it for the fun of it and the love of the art of magic....anyways thank you again

@TheMindofRobert That would work really well. I used to perform at an art walk, the only problems I found were that the spaces were expensive, the vendors were territorial and there were a lot of rules to performing there. I think a Swap Meet type event would be great.
@TheMindofRobert13 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, what are your thoughts about renting a space at a Swap Meet and Flea Markets to perform? Yes you have to pay but it's in a place w/ a lot of people, foot traffic and they are there to spend money. Thoughts?

Chris, would you do a video on the approach?

Thanks for this post, I am traveling and staying at hostels, most of the people I come in contact with are travelers. There is a huge difference between travelers and tourists! travelers are on a tight budget and tourists have cash. It is fun and easy to practice with travelers, even show them how to do certain tricks. Then you hit the tourists up, They will gladly toss you a couple of dollars, maybe even have you mate offer to take a picture of you with a group of bewildered tourons! The most important part is to HAVE FUN!!! ;)

@magicgeekinc Hey no problem, Chris. I really can't wait for the video about turning Street Magic into other gigs. I'm a Mentalist, a Bizarreist, A Sideshow Act and a Street Magician. None of those work well for the common gigs Magicians get when they decide to make performing a career (ie Kid's Parties). So really I need help w/ finding my market for my style and personality.

Looks like this series will be fun:) Unfortunately, I have NONE of those in my city. Actually, people don't even really walk around... Anyways, awesome Chris. can't wait til the rest:)

@TheDavidA71 any trick with the right presentation will get a good response. I have done basic pick a cards on the street and gotten great responses. I would mainly stay away from levitation's in my opinion because so many people have the UFO card. hope this helps!

@followmyhands Another good idea to make money and get gigs is to find a restaurant that will allow you to do magic once a week. This is a good way for the restaurant to bring in more family business and a fantastic way for you to make money with tips and by passing out your business cards.

@followmyhands If your goal is to make money, go to where the most tourism is in your area. The more fresh foot traffic you can find, the better your chances are of making some money. I don't know what the area you live in is like, but at 14 it might be a good idea to have an adult around for security reasons. I'd try and find a location that has something fun for one of your parents to do while you perform, just to keep them close by.
