I'm right there with you Bethany. I'm 27 and single. I've actually never ever dated or had a boyfriend and at first this seemed like a curse to me. I was embarrassed by it and it was not by choice that I was single all my life, BUT now (even though I still desire marriage) I feel SO blessed and protected by God because I know I wasn't ready for even a dating relationship. I was able to avoid so much heartbreak and regrets because God didn't allow those relationships in my life even though I really wanted to date. I still feel that struggle now because the desire is still there, but I know God wants to give me a full and abundant life whatever that looks like. Plus I've learned from my friends who are married, as you both said, our desires don't stop at marriage. I'm not going to magically stop wanting things after marriage. It's better to choose to be content and joyful now with God and his presence everything else is a blessing from him.

Contentment is DEFINITELY one of THE greatest things the Lord's been teaching me and my favorite verse for that is pretty much the one which Paul says he learned how to be content in any situation. This also hit kind of close to home. Although, slightly on aND slightly off topic, I had my son seven years after getting married, at age 29. When I got pregnant I kind of freaked out because I wasn't sure yet if I was ready to be a parent. So different experiences affect different people. Some people might consider 28-29 much too late, some too soon, some might not want kids at all, but I think God can see past our wants to what we need. I do still have the bad habit of going "if only I had this," but with another attitude it's easier to be content with life. I hope you do both get your hearts' desires though!

ill be hones t this was not helpful. I can sympathize with Rachel because I am like her. I have a n older sister economically succful neonatologist her husband a corporoate lawyer with 4 little girls in private school. im 37 never married work in social services with a theology degree and no kids.... I THINK its rather laughable people complaining their not married at 27 28 like their old maids. they aren't. they have plenty of time... the average age marriage in this country is in early 30s now... I said the same thinf as Rachel give me a child or ill day and I mean that with every fiber of my being. please don't say any flippant or insincere responses like why don't you enjoy your nieces, or adopt because I don't see my nieces accept once a year and I don't have money to ever adopt unfortunately. I know that sounds ean but when people say that is equivalent of saying I really just giving you platitudes an d not thinking about what your saying...
