Es una locura el acento que tienes, nunca hubiera pensado que eras española si no hubiera leído la descripción del canal. Hablas el inglés británico (RP) perfecto. Yo estuve un año trabajando en Londres y tengo acento de allí, además soy andaluz así que tengo 2 acentos muy marcados en ambos idiomas 😅 Igualmente eres un ejemplo a seguir para mí, ojalá hablar el inglés tan bien como tú algún día!!

@@patryruiz. of course you were joking, however I admire your well deserved confidence, the truth is, you probably speak better English than a lot of natives- the funny thing is, one of the only “mistakes” I ever heard you make, and i’m not sure, was an English vowel in Spanish- but you go back and forth so fast I don’t have time to hear any errors. I mentioned before I thought you were native English and learned Spanish as a 2nd language! honest!

Tienes mucha energia y estas divertida. I'm in eeuu and basically need Latino Spanish but you and some others just teach so well that I view your videos. I have recently used HelloTalk and used other apps throughout the virus time. Tandem actually has been the most fruitful and I even visited two buddies from there in Colombia. Being over 70 my brain must be shriveled up. When I was about 20 and resided in Deutschland I felt that I was and still am pretty fluent - although on a basic level. But Spanish seems much more difficult even though most of my neighbors here in Virginia are spanish speaking. Thank you for your unique perspective. BTW I did spend a week in the London are when I was young and only understood some.

It started when I tried to sing Viva por Ella by Andrea Bocelli on Smule. Singing is divertido and Spanish people are generally muy amistosa ! Keep making hermosa videos 😊

I do talk to myself do because there is no one else to talk to. One of the things I have done for years is read in Spanish aloud. Also another thing is look up words in a monolingual Spanish dictionary. Sometimes then you find unfamiliar words in the definition so you look those words and finally you will understand and in case you still don’t understand then as a last resort you can then look up the word in a bilingual dictionary but only as a last resort. Yet sometimes you may still need to see a picture especially in the case of a word that might be the name of a plant or animal. You might get a description with words but still not quite know exactly what plant or animal is being described.

I don´t know about listening study material while cooking - cause I hardly ever do it - but trying to combine learning two different skills at the same time - training strengh or endurance AND the command of a foreign language seems to be kind of self-deception and a waste of time. The golden rule of acquiring a skilll effectively is concentration, as aquiring a foreign language is a trained skill, that requires dedicated time and is not passive knowledge. That's of course my personal view and I admit there may be people who combine that successfully.
@patryruiz.

I think it all depends on your level. I know quite a few people that go running whilst listening to a Spanish podcast, but I agree, it’s not ideal if you are a beginner, in that case you need full attention 😊

You need to have the basics first so you can get the jist of what's been said... then passive listening can gradually improve you're listening skills.

I have various Spanish teachers on most of the day and during sleep. It's very passive, so I suspect I'm learning only a little bit more than nothing. But every once in a while, a word or phrase catches my attention. Then, I switch from background passive to foreground active and then bingo (de vez en cuando) I have the new word or phrase forever. Listening passive helps me to stay in the game of learning. Otherwise, I'd drop out.
@jmrumble
@jmrumble Жыл бұрын
I have a “well actually” for you regarding learning in your sleep. While you can’t pick up new vocabulary completely in your sleep, if you familiarize yourself with it before sleeping and then put on something using that vocabulary while you’re sleeping, it helps your brain integrate it so you remember it better when you wake up. They did a study on this, unfortunately for the participants, waking people up at 2 am to test them on vocabulary they’d learned the night before, with one group having practice audios running during their sleep and another group without that. The ones with the practice audios running scored better with a significant enough difference to write a paper on it.
@kenmammel7748
@kenmammel7748 Жыл бұрын
@jmrumble - That's what I will do. Before sleeping, I'll listen and look at the words fully engaged. Then I'll sleep listening to the same words. Sounds like a good plan, man!

@patryruiz.
@patryruiz. Жыл бұрын
It is a huge challenge and not everyone has the skills or consistency to do it to be honest. I have seen it, students that in one month go from very basic knowledge of the language to being able to hold a conversation (upper intermediate level). It requires A LOT of hours, almost a complete immersion in the language and a certain type of linguistic prone brain 😅 Not easy at all, but not impossible! However, the more realistic time frame would be 3 to 5 months in my opinion 😊

@@patryruiz. 3-5 months to be fluent ? Without immersion is really difficult
@patryruiz.
@patryruiz. Жыл бұрын
@@lavishreacts8010 Well, that’s where you play a big part. You don’t need to travel to the country to immerse yourself in the language: change your phone language, read, listen to songs, watch movies/series/news, consume Spanish speaking social media… That, along with translating your day to day vocabulary into Spanish little by little, is a recipe for success! In 3 to 5 months you would have covered most of the vocabulary you’d need to understand and speak the language. At the end of the day, unless you need certain niche vocabulary (such as for a job, for example: medicine), in our day to day we don’t really use as many words as you might think 😅
