She was beginning to nibble on the hook and he yanked it away. Then he follows up with the corny gift and invitation. The movies makes him look good, but in reality the response from a woman - especially a woman as jaded as Sarah - would be be confusion 🤷♀️ WTF?!
@albertgaspar627 Жыл бұрын
@@memowilliam9889 the more options anyone has, the fewer games they're interested in playing--unless the "prize" is really hot or has real status that will look good on their arm. Sarah is jaded, and she has a job that takes up her energy so theoretically, her only need for dating is physical. We forget sometimes that after a certain age, we can find an outlet for our energy that matches having someone in our lives--and all the BS and baggage to go with it. We still have a physical need, but a ton of people out there date to achieve something, not just to get laid. when your job achieves for you....all you have left is need, and when you're built like her, you can satisfy that whenever the craving hits.
@memowilliam9889 Жыл бұрын
@@albertgaspar627 ... I’m not sure how your response (as valid as it is) applies to my comment. We see Hitch thwart an unwanted nuisance (Chip), with charm, wit, and humor. She becomes interested in him and he yanks the bait away. I don’t understand his strategy. Then he follows with his corny walkie talkie invitation. It’s the equivalent of Chip’s sophomoric advancements. A person as jaded as Sarah (IMO). Would not respond to that. She would not be impressed and she would think, “he’s just like every.. other... guy.” It’s movie. It’s cute. We have to suspend reality to make it so and most people readily do so. However, I’m just as jaded as Sarah. It comes across as poorly played.
@albertgaspar627 Жыл бұрын
@@memowilliam9889 Hitch does indeed, deflate Chip rather than act as a "cawkblawk" (though on a side issue, Chip is the lucky one here. Sara's friend Casey is warned by Sara about the guy Casey just met, picking up lingerie while hitting on Casey. Casey decides not only to sleep with him anyway, she gets angry she can't steal the guy away from another woman, and so Casey and Sara blame....all men. Sara should have said, "well, why did you reward piggish behavior?" or told her friend, "hey, you got what you wanted, stop whining". So Chip missed out on a woman who blames men for her friend "not keeping it in her pants"). Sara seems willing to lower her defenses, but Hitch knows that's just temporary--he did her a favor by negating Chip, she's just afraid to look bad in return. chip was easier to block--she told him up front to buzz off, so she could tell herself she was nice and when he failed to take the hint, she had license to take it up a notch--but then Hitch was her knight in shining armor, and now she owes him a favor--the favor of being polite. not to mention, chip's approach is so by-the-book we are meant to laugh when he segways into "are you always so...". he's trying to read her in order to connect to her, but he's projecting, almost "negging" so she has to defend against the accusation by actually opening up to him just prove it wrong. as Jabba the Hut would say, it's a Jedi trick for the weak minded. Hitch comes at her like an equal--he reads her, but he's accurate like he's been there before and actually DOES understand her. As a power player herself, she's going to want to date someone who gets her without her having to explain it (ever have a woman get angry and tell you you should know what she meant by "oh nothing"?). Once past that layer of defense, he sets the hook in her, by whipsawing her back and forth--is he interested, is he not interested. every woman loves watching the classic formula "boy meets girl, boy loses girl" even if they've outgrown "he loves me, he loves me not". it's the emotions that come with drama. He's playing the game on a woman who as a gossip columnist, constantly games people in order to get what she wants out of them--the exclusive that makes her editor happy (is that a daddy issue? who knows). beautiful women are used to being approached, regardless of what people think. those who dress like it's their job to look beautiful, are more confident to handle it than the shy hot gal who dresses down. many will enjoy the game, because why not. anyone who enjoys poker will tell you, you never play the cards, you play the person across from you. some folks just love to test their knowledge of what can be sold to them. so sometimes to them, the courting isn't a prelude to getting laid--they can get that anywhere anytime the need strikes--it is the main feature. especially with the hottie who is a "serial monogamist" or otherwise going from relationship to relationship. did they land the sap (chip) or did they land the Alex Rodriguez. Sara might not be that person, but as a gossip columnist, she might be looking at dating in terms of how the "win" makes her look. we don't really know her dating life, we just assume the jaded comes from it. she could just be jaded from all the half-ass approaches she's been given, this was the era of "pickup artist" lessons on the internet. i've known some beautiful women who were annoyed with "cookie cutter" approaches but something outrageous from a guy they would be interested in anyway got their attention--who doesn't want something shiny and new in their lives? the walkie talkie thing is childish, but as Cyndi Lauper told us, "girls just wanna have fun". She has her coworkers' attention, they're waiting on her response--she controls the room. Of course, it's a movie and if she wasn't the least bit interested in winning this game, this entire scenario would be labeled "stalker" and that would be that. As we see in the movie, Sara is on top of her job, until a photo op is stolen from her--then she needs another "hit" of verification, and having Hitch chase can help that for her. the best person to play games ON is the one who wants to play games. they sell themselves on the need to play. but like other things in life, it comes down to options. who else is playing games with her? no one. so she'll play this one.

One important thing I noticed that even husbands can apply to their wives. While Chip just talked about himself , Hitch never once did that . He focused the conversation on her, managed to make her laugh without being crass and gave her the opportunity to deny her or accept him . He was confident without being prideful. Men sometimes think swag is this extra way of being ( wearing expensive clothes or perfume ) but really just be a good guy , affectionate and attentive.
@albertgaspar627 Жыл бұрын
Good catch. and husbands often screw up because after marriage, they forget to keep "dating" their wife on days other than Valentine's. to romance her with flirting. instead it's the 3am "you awake?" poke in the back. And then the kids come along, and both are too tired from working and then wonder why the marriage is such a struggle. do a favor, dump the kids on the grandparents, and give your spouse something to brag about at work the next day. as for "confident without pride", most people don't know the difference between confidence and cocky. Cocky is prideful, it's bragging in the fear no one would notice otherwise because the reason for being cocky doesn't really exist. Confidence is not worrying if anyone will notice--a person who wins awards, for example, doesn't worry if someone will notice how good they are, since there's already awards from others who noticed.

This scene in the movie "Hitch" is a mater's class in subliminal persuasion and communication. Notice how he matches her unspoken signals and mental expectations and uses them to redirect the conversation. She states a position and he deflects appropriately and effectively right back to controlling the interaction without being too assertive or aggressive. Hitch challenges her comments but does not confront them devolving the conversation into a power struggle. Supremely confident but not dominate. This scene alone is worth the price of admission or purchase is men want to pursue western modern women. Yes, the Hitch character is reasonably good looking, appropriately dressed for the occasion and locale but that isn't the prime reason for his success.

The walking away with no number/contact is ultimate nuclear high value move, but a bad move for 99% of guys. Because after he leaves, another guy (who could be just as high level) could sit down and make her immediately forget about Hitch. Just getting her number makes her feel "taken" and thus less likely to give her number out twice in same night.

Gotta have that buisiness card handy, ya'll. Ppl nowadays might think it old-fashioned and tacky af, but still relevant to this day. Nothing wrong with classing up the room a bit, is just what I'm saying.

You haven't lived in New York. No one feels "taken" just because they've given out a phone number.

Lessons learned: -Pay attention. -Be genuinely interested in other people's stories and lives. -Give it a good effort. -Don't take it personal if it doesn't work out. -Walk away with dignity.
