The Blue/Green Chromis is a spectacular addition. I had one in my tank years ago and was surprised by its personality and actual beauty that comes out that is hidden at first glance. They are much better in school. Best of luck. I like all your ways of going about things.

@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike from Greece! 35 gallons is too small Mike. You could always try, but be prepared to remove the ones that are fighting. The two you have in there now may be a pair. Three more may throw things off. 👍🏻 thanks for watching and welcome to Tom Reefer Channel😆

Tom Reefer!! I’m wanting to get some wave makers for my 40 Breeder. I see you are going with one Hyggar mini on your 75. If I wanted to get two would that work out? Also would I get the smaller size of the wave makers or the larger? Thanks
@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Corey, either of the hyggers will work. I’m not so sure the larger one will make that much difference. It looks like the same housing as the smaller one. But 2 would be necessary. And cleaning frequently a must. Like once a wee. They slow down when the get dirty.👍🏻
@tmac10722 жыл бұрын
I'm a pretty new reefer, about 9 months in. One of my early additions were 3 BG chromis, hoping for a little school, but ran into trouble with Uronema, and wound up with a sole survivor which is doing fine to this day. I also tried 3 Springer Damsels a little later on, but one of them got pretty beat up and eventually died. I'm assuming by the other two, although I never witnessed it. Maybe I'll attempt some more BG's after watching your video. Thanks for all your efforts and sharing your knowledge and experience, I really enjoy your videos.
@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, it can be hit or miss, but I’ve had success with the school when I followed what I learned about them. 3 might have been too small a group. Try a minimum of 7 all close in size. Feed a few times a day, and see what happens. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻

Could 2 Kessil A80 lights penetrate to the bottom of a 90 gallon aquarium (24 inches)?
@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, That would not be enough. My concern would be your spread also. 90 would be to wide for just 2 A80’s. Maybe a 3rd cheaper light in the center between the 2 kessels? The Kessels will give you the shimmer, and the 3rd center light help fill and help reach the bottom 👍🏻
@stevenpavan3272 жыл бұрын
@@TOMReefer I have a cheap strip light between them. Right now on either side of the strip light is a home depot LED bulb. I tell you, the cost is SO BAD up here for LED.
@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
@Steven Pavan everything is costly in the reef keeping now Steven. It’s unjustified in most cases. 😏👎🏻 if I could figure out how to make a LED, I will. I’ve actually started to research it a little. 😊I made my own metal halide Lights back in 2010 for my 250 gallon tank. I save a lot!

There is a very similar species called the black axil chromis that supposedly don’t kill each other off. They’re pretty hard to find unfortunately. I bought some purportedly black axil chromis a couple of years ago. They were all tiny and grew but still ended killing each other off. I still have one left. I also suspect they were the regular blue green chromis.
@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Roger, these are supposed to be Black Axil. They are still juveniles so the black marking is not showing yet. So, I’ll see. These are from Live Aquariua.com. They’re usually are accurate. 👍🏻
