@TOMReeferКүн бұрын
Hi Todd, it’s not anemone only. I have a few other corals in there. It’s live rock and a sponge filter. More recently I’ve added a HOB to clear the water a bit more. It also adds a little more biological filtration. 👍🏻

What did Tom tell me to do just before this happened 🤣😝 I’m just kidding .. but tom I have a question about your rusty photosynthetic gorgonian if you don’t mind I really fell in love with it on your videos and just recently picked one up as I seen it go on sale and happen to get a free gifted purple blade along with it now I have not had an opportunity to upgrade my lighting that I was using on my 55 gallon witch wore 2 kessil A80s tuna blues and worked very well on that tank surprisingly and luckily 🤦♂️ but I now have them on my 100 and I’m wondering if photosynthetic gorgonian will also feed through the water or do they take all there energy from the lighting I add vitals mixed reef every 2 days and all my other corals have done fine off this set up with the exception of moving my birds nests way up on a frag rack now 🙄 but the Kenya seems to still love them and my mushrooms and zoas actually and the nem has stayed where I put it when setting up the new tank but I don’t want to disturb everything hitting them with a new light but it’s my understanding that gorgonians need a higher lighting witch both the gorgonians have great polyp extension happening since they have been in there about a week in fairness I was going to add a AI blade coral grow with the 80s cause it would be a long strip to cover the whole 60 inches and give me that kessil shimmer we all love but it could end up way to much I think and re set all my coral should I just leave it all alone and hope for the best and maybe move them up like I did with the birds nests I don’t like that look tho 😢 really sorry for the big message I’d just like the best for them I’ve done so well with everything since this revamp thank you for your time 🙏
@TOMReefer9 күн бұрын
Hi Justin, I would add the Ai blade with the A’80s. You can always keep the setting very low if necessary. As far as the gorg. They feed most from the light, but will take in some from the water column. 👍🏻

How well do those Hanna’s work Tom I’ve been using red seas pro test kit for the basics and for CAL and MAG and ALK I use the aquaforest pro kit but I’m always so unsure with the syringes cause theres that extra bit at the tip that’s not accounted for once the water starts hitting the measuring lines 😮 should be okay with the provided syringes tho right 🤷♂️ and also have you noticed with your protein skimmer any micro bubbling I really liked that style with the wood air stone I was thinking of putting one on the 100 gallon since the one I was using for the 55 is now to small but if I use the one with the air stone I have to place it right in the display since I didn’t do a sump on this build really appreciate your vid’s you have helped me out so much since I subscribed I was beginning to think I made a mistake converting to saltwater and was starting to regret it when I kept fresh water I had live plants and really never water changed like ever and everything thrived like crazy I couldn’t keep up with the plant growth but had no idea water changing for saltwater was so important thanks to you 🙏 and not to mention the idea of the aqua clear refugium builds that is working for me perfectly by the way 👍
@TOMReefer16 күн бұрын
Hi Justin, I like the Hanna checkers. That excess water in the tip is supposed to be there. It’s not a problem. It balances the top air pocket that forms at the top when pulling back the stopper. Never had any problem with micro bubbles, entering the tank from the skimmer that I have. Would air stone is placed high enough into the skimmer that all the bubble go directly up and not out of the bottom of the skimmer. i’ve never liked to put a skimmer in the display just because of aesthetics, but if you have to, I guess you could.

Hey again Tom I just recently picked up a fire fish but he’s getting bullied by my orchid doty back I’ve already had for maybe a year now can I expect it to stop or did I make a mistake 😔 I really can’t find any info on housing the two together he’s not being pushed into any corners or bitten that I can tell but he’s definitely not allowed anywhere near the rock work but being a 100 gallon he’s still got a lot of space at the top where he mostly stays now ..
@TOMReefer21 күн бұрын
Hi Justin, the 100 gallon size tank may save you. Lots of room for the fire fish to go hide. As long as it’s not continuous chasing around the tank all the time it should settle in. Watch it during feeding time. As long as it can eat it should be ok. If the Doty back prevents it from eating, then it may be a problem.
@Justin8912521 күн бұрын
@@TOMReefer okay 👍 that actually give me a good since of relief thank you the Doty back doesn’t overly come out the rocks to feed just waits for it to flow past the rocks and darts out for it and back in and I’ve only feed the tank twice so far from getting the fire fish yesterday afternoon and has been eating from the top so that’s good new thanks 🙏

@@TOMReefer still feel bad it can go and hid I have 2 separate rock builds with a gap in the middle so the powder blue has lots of space to swim around all of it but the doty back seems to think it gets both sides lol and he’s only building his spot in one of them had to move my mushrooms luckily they wore on there own small rock it kept spitting sand all over them 🙄

@@TOMReefer is their any pump you would reccomend for me to use inside the bucket to send it back ? And can you give me some tips or tricks ?
@TOMReefer21 күн бұрын
@Coral-reef. The Sicce line are decent. And the size depends on how much flow you want to run into the bucket. The more powerful the pump, the more flow into the bucket and more noise from the water flow. The sicce 1.5 might work well.

Hi Daniel, yes I still use and recommend. It depends on how much flow you want in your tank. One would be less flow obviously two would be more try one first.
