Some advice. For each concept ask : why is it important to know about [concept]. Then go find a bunch of answers. Then ask how it affect/relate/influence/impact other [concept] or things in the topic. Your brain retains stuff that you care so you need to ask why is what you are learning is important or else you’ll forget. (Don’t say “to get good grades”, answer should be around what’s the purpose of the concept or why the concept matters) try to simplify the answers to your own understanding. imagine your little 10 year old brother asks you: why do I need to care about [conceptA]
@ros3g0ld2 ай бұрын
This is actually really important not just for remembering but also because these questions come up a lot with concept-based subjects. So to do this by yourself first is extremely beneficial for retention and application.

update: some other ways you could do is imagine you are teaching your little brother of 10 years old. Ask yourself "why do I need to care about [concept]? Why does it matter?" These questions are essentially the same as "why it is important"

@@会供価 what if ultimate goal is grades?
@会供価2 ай бұрын
@@Shzy. just because you want good grades, it wont make you remember the concept. you need to understand why the concept is needed in the first place or whats its purpose, or why it matters and then your brain will care and remember. and then you need to see how it impacts other concepts. you cant look at things in isolation like the way it shown in this video cause all youll do it just remember but not understand

@@theangryexplainer i saw it, so maybe how to self study in an efficient and organized manner because i get overwhelmed and procrastination occurs. ALL of them say break it into simpler tasks but no says how to do that.. : (
@mrugaghodke49125 күн бұрын
@@yukihana-ru1ig I have the same problem here! The reason for the overwhelming feeling is that once you break down a task you realise that it’s a lot more work than just the ‘one thing’ you had before. I procrastinated SO MUCH for revising physics but I eventually figured out a way to actually get myself to do something- 1: I ‘broke down’ physics into as many smaller tasks as I could- ones that only take 10ish mins to revise/ go over. For example- the waves topic in physics was broken down into: - results of the required practical - required practical method - one SINGULAR equation I needed to learn/ memorise Ect You should end up with a TON of mini topics that should only take a few minutes max to study. This is what breaking down a task is! You should be able to do multiple PARTS of one big task, rather than not being able to fully complete the task. It’s really about mindset! 2: Set a REASONABLE target. It does not need to be something like ‘I will study the whole of the physics course in this one day with no breaks’- that just doesn’t work. Instead try these two options: ->If you are a person that needs deadlines to work try ordering the ‘mini tasks’ in a way you think you need to revise them (least known goes first) and then set a number of mini tasks you will do per day/ per revision session. Physically seeing that you’ve made progress and completed a number of tasks helps so much with not giving up revision. ->If you abhor deadlines and work better over a period of time then set work to do over a period of time, like completing 30 mini tasks by my next physics lesson. It seems obvious but do what works for YOU! Not random people on the internet!! 3: ACCOUNTABILITY!!! I am one of those people that will simply forget to do something if someone else doesn’t remind me to. If you can’t hold yourself accountable- get someone who will! And no I don’t mean your friend who’ll occasionally check in with you over text but a parent, an aunt, a teacher, a sibling- someone who will ACTUALLY hold you accountable. A load of apps can do this as well! (Just don’t turn off notifs) And don’t just shrug off their reminders- get THEM to ask for proof if you know you procrastinate. Take accountability!!!! Hope this helped! Sorry the really long comment but I know exactly what you feel so I wanted to help! Lmk if this is what u wanted to know or if I should delete this comment bcs it’s not wanted 😅🩷

the most common problem i see is that people try their best to memorize first. its not about memorizing first, u need to first understand the specific concepts. once u can understand the concept itself, everything related to it becomes a lot easier and u can continue studying from there. well actually thats the second most common problem. the main problem is that most people dont listen attentively in class, and end up missing out on the lesson being taught. this causes them to miss out on even hearing about these concepts that they need to understand. another problem i can come up with off the top of my head is overthinking/cramming. when people cram, they rush and cant properly process the information that theyre studying abt. this causes them to overthink during exams, which can lead to failure or running out of time. most of the students who study right before the test usually dont get A+. P.S. lemme clear this up. its not just understanding the concepts. u also need to practice.

Ikr like my classmates try to memorise info in subjects like History and Geography but they don't really link it to stuff they already know. Trying to understand+link things to daily life can make it easier to remember a certain topic rather than memorising it without understanding. And then some of them don't pay attention during class and expect to get high marks just from studying

my tip: make a story with the terms in it, it is useful when there are terms with definition, every term you need to remember, think of a word that is close in rhyme or spelling, as for the definition, think of a scenario that the term is doing that is close to it.

The 4th tip is actually helpful. This first time I couldn't say 20 Elements' name fast. One day I was doing and somehow I was saying those 20 Elements continuously now I can able to say 20 Elements' name fast and accurately :)
