There's a reason why Jocko Willink said he won't box in a street fight. He'd rather run and have the other guy grab him. A boxer will know foot work, angles, closing/making gaps, they will know how to move by looking at your feet. Also remember that no UFC fighter has gone 12 rounds with a pro boxer - you will not out pace a real boxer.

To beat a boxer in a challenge bout the BJJ guy just needs to sit down and scuttlebutt towards the boxer as BJJ players often do in comps

Beware, decent boxer will be able to hit you from further away than you think. They use footwork and their posture with quick movement to be able to get to you where you would think you are barely near kicking range.

@@Sidewinder528facts bro. I keep telling people. What happens when said boxer can also stop the take down XD you can be a black belt and none of it matters if you can’t get to the next level in an actual fight. It’s still highly important to be a well rounded fighter in general know how to take down and know how to stop one. But also know how to strike.

Gotta love it that is straight the first fighter the Gracie’s put out in the 90’s I watched that live. Boxing is good I believe in it - except I don’t. You’re still going to be absolutely stabbed to death - yes the push kick 100 back them up that’s perfect. Yes striking grappling perfect again. No issue. Just no love for traditional still. Traditional knew what’s up. You can’t slip a knife to the centerline unless they aimed at your forehead. You can’t bat or shell a weapon nor should you. 100 percent of you don’t have another move stay far away then clinch (but upper body, they are armed it’s real) 100. No I wouldn’t say anything is wrong if that’s what you got going on yes 100. No disagreement. Just - traditional used gate blocks and standing locks for a reason. That’s the safest entry if you are good enough to do it - gate block control the weapon. Don’t know about gate blocks I’m not surprised. Double block a weapon do you don’t miss but stagger the timing that way if you do miss you’ll be ok. If you miss the timing triple block early in time and late You can do that. You don’t know that maybe I did kung fu that’s the gate blocking art Thai is semi almost ok at it everyone gate blocks. Why? Because you have to. Yes I have thrown up a shell on the first punch defensively in a real fight. That’s bad though. That was bad training. I blocked THE PUNCH fine but it should have been assumed to be a knife or gun, I actually failed.

Good boxers won’t wait and will create openings. Truth is boxing doesn’t win all the time and neither does grappling. I would say it depends on the skill set and athleticism. Elite boxers r the fittest athletes in the world and u encountering them in a street fight probably never happens because they r too disciplined and r probably in the gym not on the streets causing problems.
@jonahwashburn1163
@jonahwashburn1163 2 ай бұрын
IDK bro, Sure neither will guarantee you a win, but I’m all for another style vs style competition to open up. I think while the average BJJ hobbyist doesn’t have great takedowns, any kind of competitive BJJ belt (even as low as blue or white) will have fine enough takedowns to secure a win against a boxer. Really a good fighter knows both, but UFC 1 was and still is in my opinion a fantastic display of ground fighting being highly effective against pure strikers.

Good boxers are too busy learning to box and fight boxers to learn how to work against grapplers or other guys. Opening up with a right hand basically opens the hips to a takedown. A boxer does not know how to answer that in the least bit, nor would they have answers for kicks. There is always a punchers chance though, and boxing is a powerful complement to grappling or any other martial art. Its got so much to give.

This just ignores all of UFC 1-3. Pure style for style grappling wins. However, against an MMA fighter (one who trains grappling and striking) pure jitz isn’t enough.

Can't say for certain but kickboxers like to keep their opponents far away (far enough to kick them) which makes it much more complicated for the grappler if they can't get close. So I guess the answer is not really...
