I agree with the comment, “don’t monetize your hobby” because we do a hobby to prevent burn out. I actually read an article about how hobbies are dead, bcuz this generation has transformed them into side hustles.

A lot of these apply to writing as well. It is so important to stress that coming up with ideas isn't something that randomly happens, it is a trainable habit that comes from regular practice

*Preach!!!* Yes! 100%. Drawing for 1-2 mins daily, or writing down ideas when you don't have time to draw is the best! Keeping consistent really helps. I am going to take the exercise as a second hobby idea. I have way to many things that keep me seated. Loved this video!

Those are some great tips. I especially love the one about capturing your ideas the moment you have them, don’t rely on that brain :) and of course exercise as a second hoppy is ingenious:)

Thank you so much for your video. I've wanted to learn how to draw for the longest time, but I've always been held back by my need for my art to be perfect right away, or because of the lack of inspiration on what to draw. Your video has inspired me and allowed me to be able to start drawing again.

I am not diagnosed or maybe not aware of ADHD, but i think i have 😢. I have a lot of hobbies like last for a month or 2, i thought it was normal that everyone experienced. I get burned out and get bored of it. IDK. I draw like about 4hrs when I am hyper focus, then stopped for 3 days and I don’t think it’s good. Thank you for sharing this, everyday I learn about something. BTW, I love your vlogs. Been binged watching for the last 4 days ❤

You are seriously my new go to channel, you're soo fun to listen to! I used to always carry a tiny notebook and pencil but at some point i did stop using it (i have no idea why lol) but it definitely was useful!!

Thank you for this! I also do most of what you suggested, including having folders of inspiration and references (I go a little crazy with this one and my photo library looks psychotic but at least I now know i’m not alone in this). But as someone who is constantly insecure and fighting the art block I am always looking for new strategies! I have a little sketchbook i got as a gift and think I found a use for it now. I also regularly jot down my thoughts in notes but never thought about sketching preliminaries. Think this is a great idea and can personally help me combat my silly perfectionist tendencies

Great video! :D I've been trying to push myself to do more than just drawing and playing videogames but boy is it hard to leave the house sometimes lol

This is a great video. I agree with everything especially not monetizing the second hobby. These are some good tips. Thanks for including the short clip of pickle ball i was wondering what it was.

I'm like an impulsive designer. If I think of something, I must create it right then and there or it will fizzle out and not come back to me again. Which is really just another way to say I've no patience and this is why I don't use a manufacturer lol I want instant gratification! Anyway, hopefully in 2024 I'll finally learn to draw.

Hi Julianne, thank you for your channel which I have subscribed to! I also do a lot of reference drawing, sometimes I do not feel like an artist because of this. I am still trying to find my art style without looking like a kid's drawing. I am so new to the art world, I found out that I can draw about 2 years ago, and I have been working on protecting my drawing ever since. Please give me your thoughts on this matter of how to create drawings from my head and not always turn to a reference. Thank you Nicole M.

You’re so inspiring! Wondering if you have any tips on using the iPad? I can’t get used to the feeling of drawing on it. Do you print directly from Procreate or upload to photoshop or something before printing? Thank you! ❤

What are the rules on copyright infringement? I’d like to base some of the drawings I sell on cartoon/anime characters but am afraid of infringement policies. Have you had any troubles with this?
