How to Beat Chosen / Unhold Camps - Battle Brothers Fight Guide

Chosen camps are on par with orc warlord camps for difficulty. The most important part of these fights is keeping the unholds trapped on mammoths. disarms work great to disable dangerous chosen, and high dps weapons are necessary to kill them.

I am surprised there isn't a Barbarian invasion crisis, there was a holy war added recently, but nothing for the barbs.

I think the lore is that the barbarians mostly want to be left alone. Certainly don't quote me, but a barb invasion doesn't seem thematically in line.

I am on a day 200 and I feel I am really struggling. Can’t find good bros, even my 300/340 guys get wrecked by the chosen or even southern armies with a lot of gunners. How does your party look like? Stats and backgrounds? Maybe my bros are just crap. And boy do they love to miss 85% hits often. Most of my 2H guys have like 100 matk and 30 mdef with 75 usable fatigue in 300/300 armor. My tanks have I believe 60 mdef, but no indominable as I misunderstood the perk and it’s usefulness. I see the benefits now though. Love your guides!

Aight so your frontliner stats sound fine (100/30/75 Matk/Mdef/stam). What's their HP? I aim to have 80+, so I often take colossus which allows me to have more stam rolls so I can get around 80-83 stam after BF armor. Additional fur padding on your armor is critical to keep BF bros from getting killed from high armor ignore attacks like chosen and orcs. Tanks need indom, period. If you have tanks without indom, get new tanks lol. I mean I guess you don't "need" it but boy does it sure help. 60 Mdef is probably baseline with a heater shield, and make sure they have high HP/stam and resolve! Resolve is necessary because wavering and breaking lowers Mdef. Good tanks can carry your team because they buy your mediocre bros time to to kill the enemies while the tanks soak damage. Rolling on bros is gambling, so it sucks if you keep getting terrible bros. If you have the money, make sure to roll on adventurous nobles, hunters, squires, beast hunters, gladiators, and sellswords. Getting a tryout mod or just savescumming bros is fine lol. For cheaper bros, farmhands/butchers/messengers/vagabonds are all really strong. I have build guides for whips, tanks, hybrids, and others. You can find my build spreadsheet in my Horrible Hybrids videos' descriptions. I like 3 tanks, 2 whip/cleavers, 3 hybrids, 1 banner, rest frontline.

@@CarveaHole Thanks a lot! So I will look for new bros. If 60 mdef is a baseline, then I need better ones. Plus the indom so that’s probably fine I just hope I can find a few good candidates. My current band has around 55-60 resolve with the trinket, but my tanks get to wavering often. Especially when not taking the banner to the fight. HP wise I believe my tanks are 85-95 with stamina roughly 75. Also the fur padding, thanks for the tip. I thought as much, but I will have to farm for those first. Thanks a lot! A lot of guides everywhere but this kind of info, what are the baseline stats, is hard to find.

@@ZaphyrVonGenevese I give my frontliners 40-50 resolve repending how much they need other stats. The nacho necklace gives you 4 and is easy to farm so I put that on everyone I can. Mammoths need upwards of 70+ resolve, no less than 55 and that's still very low. I consider 40 Mdef before shields to be the starting point for a tank, 45 is my goal and above that (I got someone with 58 once) is obviously better

I wouldn’t say that killing off the beast masters is impossible. All it takes is a couple of very skilled crossbowmen and you can pretty reliably pick them off

i usually have high initiative characters wield a crossbow then drop them as soon as the masters are dead

No it's not impossible, but why should you focus them? You can't kill the unholds, so while killing the beast masters may make some barbarians hit the unholds, it ultimately doesn't help as much as using your bros to kill the chosen/reavers. Chosen pose a more immediate threat than the unholds if the unholds are trapped on mammoths.

CarveaHole Simply having chosen hold down the unfolds for you, is a major help, at least for me.

@@picklesauce3781 the only problem I see with this is you need to hold the unholds until you kill the beast masters whether that's 1 turn or 10 your still locked in combat any way.

I've got a camp with 4 white armor unhold and 3 brown one, plus everything else. No idea how to beat that. I can't deal with 11 barbarians if I've got 7 tank busy (and I don't have seven tank).

Tried that, beastmasters somehow have a pocket-whip and can still keep the unholds under control (this is as of a few months ago but I didn't see any changes in changelogs).
