The thing that pisses me off is the sword counters. The things pops and i push the button...and still get fucking hit. The Hints say don't counter too early. Well how the fuck am i supposed to know what's "too early" when we've been taught for 3 damn games that when the blue appears before bad guys heads hit the counter button. Arkham Asylum was awesome and then the games started pissing me off.

***** If you do the combat challenges there is one all about blade dodges. In the game there are a couple parts where if you get rid of everyone else and leave a blade guy then you can practice.

FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT! After probably 10 tries I figured out what I'd been doing wrong. Here's a step by step: Counter Hit him 2-3 times without spamming the attack button. If you spam it you'll mess up the next step. Every once in a while, Deathstroke will counter your attack. This is why spamming the attack button is a BIG no-no. When his counter happens, the camera will move to a more cinematic angle. DON'T HIT A SINGLE BUTTON! When this happen you simply have to wait until the blue counter prompt shows up. You'll probably get 2 and sometimes 3 counter prompts before things go back to normal. The key to beating this son of a fucking bitch is to not spam the attack button, since if you do, when the camera goes cinematic your attacks will disable the counter prompt from showing up. If you can't counter, then you will take damage. IT IS NOT A CONVENTIONAL FIGHT. It's 100% about patience and countering. Once you figure things out he's not hard to beat at all.

Two things. 1: You totally can counter him without taking damage, if you TIME it right. You cannot hammer the counter key as soon as the prompt appears, you have to wait until he's just about to hit you, THEN counter. 2: You can use Special Takedowns on Deathstroke. It won't beat him down totally, but it does do a chunk of damage.

Okay took me like 15 tries but I did it. Was about to call my older brother who lives five hours away to come beat him for me but I managed. Video helped, as well as the comments about the bat claw tip.

I know this has been out for a while but I'm finally playing it on pc. Keep your distance from deathstroke until your far enough to where he draws his gun. Soon as he draws gun hit him with quick batclaw and keep drawing him in about 3 times on average then hit him. After you hit him get distance again and repeat. If he gets close to you only counter (do not hit him unless you pulled him in with batclaw) When he's super pissed and jumps in air to hit you over & over hit counter until it prompts you for a beatdown. When he throws canisters hit counter repeatedly and as soon as you throw it back start your quick batclaw until you pull him in. I did this after losing to him for hours and using this method I only got hit by him twice. Be patient! Love deathstroke but hated him in this fight.

This was tough for me even after reading the comments. Like others said, wait to counter until the Y is above his head. If you miss him with your grapple, he will immediately strike with Y. So 1) patience 2) L2 + Triangle > Triangle > Square. If he's a little out of it from your counter you can get a grapple. Only hit him 1-2x then immediately grapple him again and repeat. If you hit him more you'll get sucked into his move that you cannot counter (my downfall and why it took me so long to beat him). If you miss a bunch of grapples in a row he'll often fire to hit you with a barrel. Score. Quick triangle to throw it back at him and immediately grapple him. Grapple him a second time, run over, and hit him 1-2x, immediately grapple again. You can usually get two solid beat downs with this strategy. Be patient. You will get hit a few times irregardless, but blow that off, and don't get frustrated and push buttons or he'll hit you again. There's definitely a pattern to him. Take your time, especially if you're struggling with him. Very satisfying win.

After you counter you should be able to get two punches in. Continue to counter and punch. Also grappling helps to lure him in so you can get extras in !

I found that the best way to beat Deathstroke is kind of like how it's explained in the video. Whip out the batclaw. Stage 1: Death attacks; counter him and hit him 2 times before switching to the batclaw for a ground pound. You get the most hits this way and the combo modifier is nice for the extra exp in the long run. Stage 2: Death attacks; counter and immediately go for the batclaw. Every 2 to 3 times of repeating this cycle you'll want to hit him 2 times before batclaw otherwise he'll autocounter you (Not sure if this is build into the game or if I just got unlucky trying to spam that combo). He may or may not use his grappling attack in this. If he does; no biggy. It's easy as hell to counter. He also occasionally whips out a pistol if you get too far away. Simply dodge in close to avoid the gunfire. Stage 3: This is where it gets tricky as he seems to autocounter a hell of a lot more often in this stage. Basically repeat the Stage 2 format and occasionally switch to the Stage 1 format if you're feeling lucky. I finished this with more than half my maximum health (minus the boost from melee resistance armor). By using the batclaw and/or your cape you can force him into his attack sequence which speeds up the fight as you spend less time waiting for him to attack. Hope this helps! Happy hunting.

This took me easily 20 times to get...easily one of the most frustrating boss fights i have ever fought in any game. Here's some advice...for 1st two rounds (before Deathstroke equips the sword) don't just counter everything...after every counter, get in 2 - 3 hits. DO NOT GO FOR MORE as you will fall prey to the "unblockable attack" of Deathstroke. Basically if you take more than one or two hits in the 1st two rounds, you could easily lose once he busts out the sword. I actually used the Batclaw a lot less than was suggested, and I wound up doing better as a result. You REALLY have to stay on your P's and Q's with the counters - but again - attack after EVERY counter move to get in a little bit of damage and help wear him down. Once he breaks out the sword, then you have to be even more careful to counter on time...and again...try and get in 1 - 3 hits after every counter. His attacks come more swiftly and more frequently in the last round, so making sure to time everything right is key here. If you can get to the last round with most of your armor intact, you should be good to go. Remember to breathe the whole time...and I don't mean that as a joke. This one is HARD, and it will frustrate the shit out of you, so breathe, go slow and steady, and stick to the above plan and you'll finally win.

What’s really irritating to me (not even in a fun way). Is that when I fight him 90% of the counterattacks he does doesn’t give me any sort of prompt to counter so I just take damage. Every video I’ve seen shows them getting some sort of prompt before he counters but my game rarely does that at all.

Beating the game a second time, this time on hard (bragging, but it's true), I found out that beating Deathstroke is quite easy, actually. Just do as the video says. Only deliver two or three blows after a counter, never attack first unless you do the Grapple thingy. Dodge his atacks once in a while. It seems to impede Deathstroke to give one of those uncounterable attacks. Also, after a beatdown take your chance to use your x15 or x20 combo for a free hit. It will even interrupt his attack. All in all, just be patient. Also, I was able to counter one of his "uncounterable" attacks with the shaft. You just need to press the Counter buton once at the right time. On one of those, batman will defend the first two blows automatically, the third one will hit you, unless you counter only at the right moment. Batman will dodge and counteratack. After the first beatdown, this attacks is the same except it gets one more move, where DS will try to hit you with a slashing atack, wich is counterable. I couldn't counter the Sword "uncounterable" attacks though. Best strategy is to take it slow, only use counters and the Grapling hook or dodge all his attacks and do damage only with the Grappling Hook move. do this until you get to the next beatdown, which is the last thing you'll need to do in this fight.

If you’re struggling with this - when it switches to the cutscene ONLY PRESS COUNTER WHEN IT GOES INTO SLOW MOTION. It’s really obvious once you know what to look for. You can also do a combo finishing move on him once you get eight strikes. With that knowledge you can beat him before he even pulls out the remote claw.

So like a lot of you guys i too couldnt do this after the tips (Normal mode) but i found an easy way to win it without taking a lot of damage. Its simple. You dont spam attacm button just wait for him to attack and then counter and use attack button just once when u counter. Use your batclaw by double tapping the claw slot or the button you have set and let him come closer. Dont immediately use attack button after using claw but let him get close. When he is close enough use attack button once and there would be an animation of u picking him up and throwing him to the ground. This will deplete one bar of his heath. Do this multiple times no matter which phase it is( stick or sword) and remember to use the counter button in time. Yes u will miss thr timing but eventually u will win. NOTE- use bat claw when u think it will bring him close not when he is far or else he will counter it. Hope this helps

In my experience, playing on normal difficulty, you could give him a few discouraging slaps until he pulls out his sword. After that, there's a chance he'll counter your moves. Helps to jump over him as he attacks, as this provides an opening. I beat him on my second try, and while I didn't figure out how to counter every hit once he switched to his sword, I did have a blast fighting this guy.

Not that this will be seen by anyone.... I can clear up all the confusion about this fight, it's actually very simple. ALL of his attacks CAN be countered. When he engages you in the quick animation of hits, don't press triangle, simply wait and let the prompts show up. Take a loss once and just see the various hit animations and don't press counter at all and see when you SHOULD be countering. It's instinct to press it when these animations start, but he's not actually hitting you at first, and it's preventing the prompts from appearing at all. This drove me nuts for an hour til I realized it.

Best way is to be on the offensive and wait for his counter afterwards, also use the LT+Y for the quick fire bat claw, the move works nicely in your favour as you beat him to shit afterwards, frustrating boss battle but looks seriously cool if you can manage to get all the right moves in!

Okay okay... Most of you who haven't beaten him this will help: First things first. IF you guys are just standing against him use the grapple attack, but other than those points and the points where he wails on him.. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO FOR MORE THAN TWO PUNCHES. Surprised so many people had trouble with this, it was pretty straightforward with the counter hints on.

You can't hit Counter immediately. During the standard stage fighting, you have to wait a fraction of a second after the counter indicator comes up, once you got that down it's a treat. I've gone through the New Game Plus and, having the tools, took down Deathstroke first try, only getting hit once. (yes I was playing on hard.) Button mashing sequences aside, you have to wait just a hair before countering. The game actually does say that too, I'm not sure when though. Everyone's going to hate me on this but I wish deathstroke was harder. I had the most trouble with Copperhead (I'm just awful at blade dodging and there's so goddamn many of them!) But i'm also disappointed at the lack of use of Deathstroke... he was SO played up in the trailers and now he's one boss fight and an end credits cutscene. -_-

I have to thank you, right after I watched this I finally beat him, and i am a pretty experienced arkham player, and this is the hardest boss fight i have ever done Poison ivy: easy Mr freeze: piece of cake Ra's Al Guhl: too easy Mutant joker: simple Origins and asylum killer croc: not even a challenge Cloud burst: could have done better Asylum scarecrow: also could have done better But death stroke, I got really mad because he has allot of free hits that you can do nothing about, and you can barely fight him, so thank you for the help

For all the people who say this fight is easy and who keep repeating the most obvious advice ever (that the key is to not button mash and to just wait for the counter prompt), you probably have never had to ACTUALLY deal with the uncounterable attacks. What I mean by this, is that you enter the quick time event, and on the second or third attack, you don’t press any button at all and the counter prompt DOES NOT APPEAR. I think this video addresses it, and he is right in saying that it is frustrating. I don’t know if this is a bug in some versions of the game but it got me to rely on the batclaw slam more and to be patient. With some luck and a lot of skill built up later, the uncounterable attacks occurred rarely enough that I was able to finally beat Dickstroke

GOT HIM! What you need to do is get to the parts where you can actually get some damage, be patient and it works, just keep cool, and make sure you get in those counters; I only got hit by him twice!

Evade. You would jump over his shoulders and his back is open. Then batclaw slam. When he gets up from the knockdown, he has a small amount of lag to get in his stance, about under a second . Fire another batclaw slam.

I’m playing Origins by streaming it through PS+ Premium and I just got to the boss fight. Hell, I thought it wouldn’t be that much of a problem until the fight started. However, I like the fact that he’s a very challenging boss because it makes it very lore accurate unlike the boss fight in Arkham Knight.

Welp. I discovered that you need not use your movement keys/direction stick ~at all~ in this fight. When he gets the blue flash head thing you counter (obviously). He gets pushed back, that's when to stand in place and hit the Strike key/button. If he counters, you WILL get a prompt during his animation - wait for it to appear on screen (I can't stress that enough, as instinctive as it might be to ohgod-I-gotta- Counter when his animation starts, don't until you are prompted to onscreen - it will appear near the end of Deathstroke's counterattack animation, time even slows down a bit for you. If you press it before that prompt, the prompt won't even show up and he'll smack you every time). Once you see where the prompt shows up, you'll realize this fight is a peace of cake. Again, don't even worry about moving/positioning - you can LITERALLY do this fight without movement, only buttons. It's basically an annoyingly long QTE bossfight (which sucks but is incredibly easy if you wait for prompts).

Did it on my second try. I got the idea for using the grappling hook on him by accident. Ur right. Doesn't do much damage at all, but it helps to keep him off balance throughout the fight allowing u to get in some quick punches before having to move out of his attack range. The moves u can't counter (or are not prompted to counter) were pissing me off so I just baited him to attack and chipped away at his health till victory.

I find the details on specifically how to beat Deathstroke in this fight are lacking. After about 15 tries I finally got it. 1. The fight is long with a lot of cutscenes and QTE button requirements. Don't try to win this quickly, because it won't happen. 2. Batclaw quick grapple is your friend in this fight. You need to use this to win. 3. How to fight: Don't spam the attack button. Attack slowly and methodically by pushing the button with consistent timing, so you can react to the QTE counter opportunities when they come up. 4. Don't be completely passive in the fight. Deathstroke will attack you with his staff, and I often found myself missing the counters and getting hit, because I was in the habit of waiting for a prompt, but YOU WON'T BE IN THE QTE unless you're in close combat with DS. It's way easier to catch the counters when you get the prompt and cutscene slowdown (which you get when you engage in combat). 5. When you flip Deathstroke, immediately follow up with the quick grapple, then knockdown move. 6. When Deathstroke is standing there talking and spins his staff, use the quick grapple. 7. After the first cutscene (Deathstroke loses his helmet) DO use a combo takedown on him to inflict a little more damage. Batman will smash DS in the face with his own staff. 8. After the second cutscene when Batman breaks his staff, you should have enough for another combo takedown. USE IT for more damage. 9. Be careful with DS when he's down to his sword, you cannot miss the counters. Time your attacks carefully & use the bat grapple. Hope that helps.

Here's the solution, use the Hook to grab him that will make him unstable for 2 seconds then you just have to attack him and jump over his head { Space+ Space+ W) to counter do not press counter unless it's an emergency then repeat the same thing and be patient and use counter on times in mid scene.

Another thing for everyone, sometimes, not always, when Deathstroke is about to attack you, you can grapple him just before he attacks, as soon as you see the warning, and you will hit him. Don´t do it too often or he will evade you or sometimes hit you. This is NOT useful when he has a sword because he is too quick.

Trick to this fight is: Stay calm, push counter button only one time and after countering put 1-3 hits in, use grappling-gun, it speeds things up. You can also just attack and then he starts his "counter combo" just wait without pushing anything.

That little move you seem to have trouble with at 1:58 is an easy solution! When you normally fight him, either staff or sword, you will enter in a double or triple-counter in which you need to time your block...Do not spam your dodge move, time your blocks when the prompt shows up or else pay notice to the slow-mo in between each counter! Blocking and using the batclaw is how you win this fight! He wasn't that hard, but this game takes a lot more practice when it comes to timing...Hell, I even beat him once without taking damage, but that took some practice...

This video didn't really help me but the comments helped point me toward what I was doing wrong. I instinctively hit the counter button multiple times. Do not do that. Hit counter ONCE because there may be another prompt coming and double-tapping the button will register as a 2nd counter before the animation even starts. Use circle to attempt a stun and he'll dodge and use the opening to attack. Counter, attack TWICE and then wait for his next attack or use the cape move again. L2+Triangle to bat claw him for cheap shots. If you get him too close to the wall, you'll throw him over you and do NOT try to get shots in after that, he'll counter you. Once I realized the double and triple-tapping was what was getting me killed, the fight wasn't that bad. Well-designed fight, just poorly explained.

For anyone playing the game today and struggling. First two phases, jump over him then attack 3 times. Last phase, counter his attack, use your grapple on him then attack. Do that until it triggers the last beat down phase.

Just don't mash buttons. Relax if you are frustrated. Take a breather. I attempted it drunk for too long, backed away for 10 min and nailed it. I got so impatient that I used the claw. Counter after that even if the camera doesn't show it. Relax and look for the pop ups on everything else. Once you relax it's easy peasy .

All you have to do is block at a specific time unlike most enemies where you can block it soon as you see them winding up. You have to block right as Deathstroke is about to land his blow. Otherwise your block will fail and you will take the hit

The trick is when you see a counter signal, jump over him and land multiple hits. If you wanna go head to head, after countering, wait a few seconds then land hits. worked well for me.

So the trick is that whe he counters you have to wait for the counter botton to show up to counter him back and not loose life. Basically is a mini game where he beats you three times then you hit counter and wait then hit counter again until the sequence ends. It you have no patience you mistakenly try to hit counter before it shows so you loose the minigame. Countering to early makes deathstroke win the minigame

After 3 more tries I finally got it. You have to be super patient and only strike one or two times after each counter (occassionally I got a max of 3 hits, but it's frustrating and you risk getting hit). You can trick him a little by jumping over him and getting another hit in, but don't get greedy! Also anytime he starts harassing you verbally, shoot the batclaw at him and get another two hits in.

Figured it out, you wait for him to attack you, then counter attack. And only throw one punch after the counter attack every time. You should be fine. (never mash the counter attack button, only hit it when it tells you too, once!). Make sure you perform your counter attack as soon as you can see him about to attack you. That worked for me, but I still ended up with a sliver of health left.

For why he hurts you when you counter! You are punished for spamming the counter button instead of timing it correctly. In the game a tooltip pops up while fighting him th "if you press the counter too early, deathstroke will react and counter you."

Sure this boss wasn't exactly easy, but for me whenever I made made any progress with him something stupid would happen and Deathstroke would disappear through the floor, rendering the fight both unwinnable and unloseable. Eventually I worked out it only occurred when I used a move that was supposed to slam the enemy's body into the ground. Apparently it worked so well he went to another dimension....

i had beaten him on hard with no damage. all you have to do is to be aggressive and rack up a combo by countering or evading till your combo multiplier turns yellow.evading leaves slade's back exposed and you can dash into him and perform two or three strikes. then perform a takedown to him and he will get off balance. when he is dazed, immediately perform a batclaw slam to put him in the mat.when he rolls to get up, you can either time another batclaw slam or dash into him with a punch. cape stuns do not work and neither do quickgel or batarangs. he just rolls out of the way. if you have the double takedowns upgrade, you can rack up tokens and rotate them so he will have a lot of hell to deal with. if this is done properly,you will beat slade without him using his remote claw attack. when he draws his sword, slade actually gets faster and counters are difficult to perform. instead of countering, evade. its easier and plus it sets you up for a combo. before you know it, you have another set of takedowns to frustrate slade and you will own him. i also have a way to quickly beat killer croc but thats a different story. hope this helps

I think I beat him on my 3rd or 4th try. The key is to NOT button mash at ALL. Up to this point in the game, you can just spam counter and attack and stumble your way through everything on normal difficulty. Not with Deathstroke. The key is to SLOW DOWN. Counter, three punches, wait, counter, three punches. When he counters you, WAIT and don't press anything until you see the prompt. If you spam counter the prompt won't show and he will land his attack every time. Once I finally slowed down, avoided hitting any buttons until absolutely necessary and got tuned into the rhythm of the attack animations, he was easy to counter / punch almost every time.

I found a good way: use grapple to bring him near you when he's away then punch him. This gives you a chance to beat him a few times. Also flip over his head and when he stumbles, get some punches in too. Another thing is try to run around and do flips to avoid him if you don't want to scuffle or if you have low health and are afraid to engage him. This worked for me. (played on PS3).
