Great video! Really sums up the type of players you see at 1/2 and 1/3. He didn't mention nits too much but usually they're easy to play against. They are the ultimate in fit or fold. Also their is one other type of player that is a 2 street fit or fold. That is they will always test you on the flop but almost never call a turn bet.

I had a third level card (platinum) just from playing poker, they also ran a 5-10 game for me when I wanted one at the Atlantis Reno. Just watch the players as the cards are dealt to see their reactions then look at the cards.

Nice to see you back, Brian! Do you ever make it down to the Dallas area? If so, hit me up and I'll grab you dinner and show you the best card rooms, maybe have Mr Bill Poker come along for a double poker vlog. I'm making more easy money at 1/2 and 1/3 here than any of the higher games would net due to bad players and the Texas tendency to never fold.

Hell yes Brian more content. The mental game struggles for me I believe are on another level. Any oppertunitys for personal coaching or advice in any capacity? Would be huge for me. The way you break down all the subjects from situational poker, to general concepts are done simplistically and it's right up my alley.

Hi Brian, great seeing you back and looking forward to hand analysis recaps. When an unknown player sits down i like to keep an eye on the wait lists to see if they are on 1/3 PLO primarily, 2/5 NL secondarily (helps to make safe assumptions to style of play). A less than full buy in puts me on alert to their potential game plan. It also places a decent guess as to their time at my table.

There’s a guy in our regular room who has the black card and buys into 1/2 for $1500 (we all have $300 max usually) and he puts people to the test all the time and it feels like crap losing with KK or AA to back door 5 high flushes... and it seems like he does it all the time. Occasionally we get him but it’s soul-crushing playing great cards against crap and losing - and gets the heart racing playing 5-7 suited for stacks on the off chance you might hit something. Usually I just avoid the guy, I don’t have the roll for the long term.

First-time viewer, good content for me up until the end, where hoping for a clarification: are you saying when you sit down at a table and notice someone with a few buy-ins, you automatically lump them into the group with a way higher than average VPIP? What if these other player types have just happened to be running well? Unless I'm misunderstanding, shouldn't we focus on these players first and put into the correct player pool? Thanks!
@semccane2 жыл бұрын
I run into a lot of players that I call "nut jobs" . They will bluff the river with junk with a huge bet at a 1/2 table, knowing most won't call them without the nuts. Then there are those that if they are on any kind of draw. it won't matter what you bet, they will call you down to the river. What hurts, is when they have the gut shot straight, and they get there when you have 3 of a kind. Nice video. About to start your book.

I just went to the hard rock casino this weekend and got absolutely crushed in 1-2. Honestly i have only really ever played holdem at home with friends and family and done pretty well in those settings, id often win in our friday night games but this was a totally different situation. I was not prepared for this style of gameplay, its very different than home play. After watching this i realize I was probably an easily identifiable target that got cleaned out over and over! lol. Anyway you live and learn and next time ill adjust strategy to play much tighter. I want to get online and start practicing that same style of play. Great video, I saw a lot of my mistakes pointed out in this video. doh!

1/2 is the only game I've ever played where a player will limp utg with queens to make sure an ace or king flops, or call with j3 suited only because its suited. Ive seen 1/2 players get visibly upset at raising, as in some games there is an unspoken agreement not to raise because they're looking to hit the high hand or bad beat. I appreciate the input and advice. One thing I've always thought is that you don't have to be balanced at 1/2 and you can play pretty much play exploitative rather than gto. They almost NEVER check raise as a bluff and almost NEVER raise the river without a super strong hand. The one thing you can exploit is these players may raise the river with what they think is a nut hand but really isn't (8 high flush, trips on a 3 straight or flush board). I do like to set mine as well because most of these players won't fold an overpair or top pair unless there is literally a 4 straight or 4 flush.

@@detroitpoker7894 Good to know you're back at it. Nothing open where I am (in Canada) and the land border is still closed. BTW: I've played many seasons of low stakes live poker in Las Vegas, and your player profiles are correct. (For anywhere.) The problem is that in Vegas? In any full ring 1-2 game, 1/2 the players are young "Vegas Low Stakes Grinders". 1/3 are tight rec OMCs... etc. When a Tuna sits, it's a feeding frenzy. In other words, most 1-2 and 1-3 games are SHIT in that town. (Not enough tuna to go around.) Florida is no different. Just more muggy. (Low stakes) holdem is a hard way to make an easy living, as another professional once said. Good luck training more "low stakes new pros" to jump into the shallow end of the pool... (lol) They'll eat one another. cheers!

I love listening to live card room regfish bash guys for being tight aggressive and "predictable". Yes, everyone knows that you have good cards when you raise EP, 3 bet an open, so on and so forth. What they don't realize is that the "predictable TAG" is exploiting them by simply having the best of it more often than not against them, and being able to put money in with the best of it. One guy I play with who is the type of guy who clears 6 figures playing mostly mid stakes NL and PLO gets called "easy to play against" by the very people who are funding him.
