Thematically, it wouldn't make sense if we found out. The film was based on a novel, which itself was all about the sudden-ness of death. It can happen at any moment for any reason, and therefore you should live life to the fullest. The literal events of the film aren't as important as the metaphorical message. If there was a plotline where they explained it, it would ruin the point.

The thing that is killing is a sexually transmitted disease. It would explain why only the seniors have it. As high school kids are always sexually active. The seniors most likely having sex with people in their grade or age group. Why the CDC don't always wear mask. Why the jock kids got killed first. The pills the government gave them worked. But some of the kids developed antibodies to fight against it. The boyfriend got it from the girl. Which why he eventually explodes. But didn't before because he was a virgin. Taking drugs slows the time down of explosion but doesn't stop it. Also when you have a HIV of some type you have to take medication pills for the rest of your life to avoid sickness and death.

Theory: I think it's more on hormones or emotions, the one thing I found a little common is "fear". In this situation, as long as you fear something like "Is your girl/boyfriend still alive from the huge massacre?" or "Can we escape as a couple without worrying about the law?" which is what happens before they die, their response afterward lead to their deaths. The 2 previous sentences usually express fear, but the guy who exploded during the presentation was "brave" or "confident". The only reason there are survivors is that they will always feel guilty or be afraid of that massacre, that is unless you lose a large sense of fear in a short period of time. Saying "you should feel guilty and afraid" is probably the most negative thing to say, but as long as you live, you should always live in guilt and fear (that is for the characters in the story). Fear is proof that your imagination is functioning, but without imagination, you can never deduce which action to take next. However, the problem is the "chain" deaths, in which the theory of fear and guilt is lacking evidence, except when you think that the fear and guilt I'm talking about are the longing dread types. You wouldn't feel this type of fear or guilt during that massacre, yet your mind has to reiterate and return to square one (aka 0% in fear), understand the situation, and return way worse. The government thinks it's _____ or alcohol, but the real reason is that both of these items "relieve" you from any negative feeling, such as fear and guilt, in a short amount of time, which is why they died. The thing about sex is that you are relieved but there is such thing as PNC, but since it was the guy's first time, the girl would have more likely been alive up till now, the fear of not having what you want (in which the guy just did a thing he wanted, but the girl is afraid of losing him, same for the dude to her) TL;DR Be dead inside (which is pretty ironic) Do not lose or gain too much fear in a short amount of time, live in a steady constant of fear and guilt, or you will die. If you just experienced a massacre, do not let your mind understand, but keep the fear you had.

@MrNogo-yb2tq2 жыл бұрын
So either fear or anxiety which makes sense and yes anxiety is a branch of fear but it also branches off other emotions. Also for Brave too though. I believe the definition of brave is "to do something even when fearful". So even brave can get you killed if you're theory is correct. And if it is then basically do some H and I promise all worries and fear and emotion will leave even if you don't nod off 😂🤷 but obviously not everyone will do that so it's best to learn how to flip that switch or better yet, leave it off and learn how to become a psychopath (which means mind and disease or suffering ) or even sociopath (meaning companion, associate, ECT and disease or suffering) because the "disease" helps them "suffer" to not be empathic towards people, their emotion or even feel/empathy on your emotions as well. So maybe can find one and experiment and see if they ever explode and if so then you're theory would be proven correct unless I'm wrong which wouldn't be a first.

I get the sense that this one is just meant to be taken metaphorically. I know that the mysterious cause of the explosions is something the film itself draws attention to, but I really don't think that's what the story is really about. The students trying to come up with some kind of explanation is more meant to symbolise how we find comfort in viewing our lives as predictable, and how fragile we are when we're confronted with the fact that tragedy strikes without warning or clear cause.

@thestormbeforethecalm2 жыл бұрын
The concept of the movie is really cool, and you're covering it really well. I love your channel and watching horror movies are definitely better when you break them down. I've just got a couple things to say, and I mean no criticism or harm. I may have misunderstood or misinterpreted some things you say so sorry if I'm wrong. Here are my thoughts (be aware, it's quite long): Cells should not explode on a regular basis. They should implode, which is the process you explained called Apoptosis. Apoptosis is when they implode (what they're supposed to do), where all the organelles and enzymes are sealed in apoptotic pockets to prevent contamination into the blood stream or wherever this cell operates. Necrosis is when cells explode, starting a chain reaction as enzymes and other organelles float around (bad thing). Cases of necrosis are usually seen in frostbite or the bubonic plague as the part of the body turns black. None of it actually disintegrates, it just - to put it in a simple way - dies. Think of it this way, apoptosis is the cell being sent the signal through the death receptor, and it begins the apoptosis cycle, with no problems at all. Necrosis is more like when a cell is forced to die, so it's pressured by the condition it's put in, and explodes before it can even begin Apoptosis or sense danger. Asking vs Forcing. One happens everyday, and one is to avoid at abosolutely all costs. Cancer cells do not have working death receptors, so when other cells try to send them a signal to self destruct, they simply ignore that and continue multiplying. Radiation therapy is the only thing that works because these cells will not listen to anything else, which is why they extract healthy Stem cells to insert into the patient after the treatment to start creating healthy cells. But anyway, I don't think this is the case for the movie. Even though cells explode during necrosis it's on a molecular level, so the affect to the organism (in this case, humans) would be significantly different. Parts of the brain and bone to disinteelgrate wouldn't make much sense as well because when a person dies, no cells are left, but their skeletal structure remain. For decades, even. The strongest bone in the body makes up a portion of the skull, so it would require a tremendous amount of force, as you explained. And for it to get to a 4 meter radius, it would be nearly impossible. A mysterious toxin altering pressure built up in the brain or somewhere near the head could be probable though, because if there's gas at the end of the colon or rectum, the pressure would most likely build there and cause an explosion-like death. Unless this virus/condition is in the lymph nodes system, there's no way for gas to get into the brain from anywhere but lower than the lung (organ wise). It would have to be a pretty big mutation in how the body functions on a cellular level but it's so interesting to think about.. I'm only halfway through the video as I watch this, but my theories are that someone either had an explosive planted in the students brain stem, or somewhere near it, as that's the center main point to blow a head from the middle out. Though I'm not sure how anyone would have pulled that off secretly though. Or maybe these explosions are a new mutation in the brain as an emotional thing. Maybe getting too emotional leads to something happening in their brain and it sets off a reaction? Loving your runthrough of this movie and I enjoy lots of your summaries lots as well. They cure my boredom most days.. Keep it up!

I would just like to point out that pupils being large under bright light isnt always a sign of being high. There are people that have unusually large pupils though it tends to also be people with low iris pigmentation (grey/light blue/violet) and who are nearsighted. So when their pupils are all the way constricted they look unusually large compared to the norm and when fully dilated it looks like they have almost no iris. It's not a disease. It's just how the eyes developed. All it does is put these people at a greater risk of eye damage from bright light and give them slightly better low light vision. Source: I have this.

I honestly have to believe that the cause of the explosions is hyper emotions. Perhaps fear, excitement, joy or more. This makes sense as everyone who had there heads exploded were affected with extreme emotions prior. For most students it would be extreme stress and fear of death. But for the two jocks and drug dealers they were over excited or happy by getting cash or new money or hyping up arguing against the government man/ football. I’m assuming the main point where you explode is where the emotions get far too high and kick in your adrenaline. So the way to beat it is by perhaps taking medication to make you feel nothing. Or be a sociopath
@seancarroll98492 жыл бұрын
Hold up. For the drug angle to pan out, for something like weed or free basing, whatever the lethal agent is needs to have a high range of survivable temperatures. That rules out most biochemical substances. Biological agents can't handle this type of thing. To have only ASH remaining, we're left with a sci-fi scenario of a novel weaponized agent, nanotechnology. We're not quite there yet, but let's assume this movie takes place in a world where they are that close. What would the purpose of such a test be? And would this break many Conventions about testing on your own population? (Yes, I'm over-analyzing this, but so far the scenario does not match up well with suspension of disbelief.)

What i love about this channel is, even tho he knows the answer to the problem, he presents solutions based on what the characters know or could find out at those given moments in time :-) now THAT is the best way to do these types of videos, coz if something happened irl u would know how to handle the situations step by step instead of relying on plot armor XD... LOVE UR CONTENT BRO o7 keep it up and stay awesome... PS: Just know that im kidnapping u wen the apocalypse happens, look for the armored bus with the spikes in front on the bumper XD

This was this girl's first mistake. If I was in her shoes I would have flipped a coin 100 times and figured out my luck rate, of course humans can't be fully random, humans work based on patterns, instead of relying on my sense of luck I would get a random number generator and assign every odd number to heads and every even number as tails. Once I figure out how lucky I am I would see if my odds of survival were high, if not my first action would be to challenge Tyche, the Greek god of Luck, and if I could beat her on a coin flip she would make my luck unbeatable, therefore making me invincible to the exploding heads.

Love your content so much! I have a quick medical note, though. While the background for IBS is not clear at that point, it is not really associated with what you eat. It's mainly a psychological issue and overreactive intestine muscles. What you mentioned, about the gases build-up is an effect of SIBO, where your intestine bacteria are a little crazy and overgrown. Another disease where it happens, are some sugar intolerances, main example being lactose intolerance. So, to all of the IBS boys and girls, you probably won't spontaneously combust. Avoid cow milk to be safe though. Lot's of love!

I think the reason why the main character didn’t die, is because when the girl exploded, her blood sprayed everywhere, reaching most students, and I think because of the blood, it came contact with other students, and the main character bended down, causing the blood not coming in contact. And last, have a damn good day

*ANALYSIS: The thing killing the kids is just a metaphor.* 🧐 Being a senior in highschool feels like a nexus point in life for most people. What if you make the wrong decisions, what’s next? Pressure from others about plans/goals, sex, drugs, grades, family. It’s enough that a kid at this age can feel like their life is over after making one mistake, one failure, one wrong choice, one more criticism about how you’ve disappointed someone once again. Once the boyfriend and lead actress come to terms with the fact that they could die any day now, they freed themselves of those expectations and just lived. The reason it doesn’t affect anyone post graduation is because the ones who managed somehow were now embarking on their next step in life (which isn’t the end of the world).
@TalentCaldwell2 жыл бұрын
The drugs to suppress the explosions is also a metaphor for how we (society) respond to issues we don’t understand. Just write the kid a prescription.

Yeah. HIV really boosts the immune system. Having every disease and getting treatment doesnt mean youre immune. People who have sex are probably happier than people who dont have sex and happier people are healthier because they are happy. And people who have sex probably live healthier lifestyles (some exercise, some healthy food, etc) and are healthier because of that. A person could be raped every day of their life but is locked in a dungeon and fed table scraps and will probably have a worse immune system despite technically having sex every day compared to someone who never has sex/masturbates but leaves their house every day.

I love this channel because i get to learn a lot of things. My only problem is the ways to beat that he presents requires a person to be omniscient and sometimes omnipresent unlike nerd explains who gives out ways based on what things are available, what state of mind there is and and what is plausible during that situation alone. Can't help to compare but that is what I noticed because I love watching both channels. If I want to learn, How to beat is my go to. But if I actually want to survive, i'd go nerd explains.
@cdcazares912 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Cinema summary explanations relies a lot imo in having knowledge people won't readily have and if they don't have it, to Google search it. Who knows if you can during certain situations. Secondly is the presence of mind to be able to respond accordingly. It might be hard to stomach but so many people never practice critical thinking/problem solving. Not to mention the emotion and age of these students. Just saying easier said than actually done.
