Less than 7 minutes into this video I must say that I've found it utterly interesting so far. Living in Europe I had no idea that that particular state is so full of gator - indeed, I would have thought of Florida first. So all the info about the wetlands and such - loved it! And when you spoke of what the experts say about fighting back, I could only think of a real video of a cat - yes, a cat !! - beating a gator back into the water. So yeah, hitting back sounds right indeed. Now I'm going to watch the rest of the video. Thanks for your great work!

Fun fact, we don't actually have basements in Louisiana. I think there's maybe 3 basements in the whole state. Our water table is so high that if you want a basement you have to put the building on a hill a good 30 feet higher than everything around it

As an ex-Corrections Officer, I can tell you the biggest unrealistic part of the movie. We wouldn't plan a transport while a hurricane was happening. . . Also, as someone who has had to deal with gators in the pond in front of my house more than a few times. Yeh big crocodilians generally feed on mammals in shallow water (such as when going for a drink)... whereas sharks tend to eat fish in deeper water (deeper compared to crocodilians). Of course crocodilians do eat fish and sharks do eat mammals. We are a normal target for crocodiles and an unusual target for sharks. That said, large alligators typically eat dog sized prey and large crocodiles will typically go for anything smaller than a hippo - so it's very rare for an alligator to go for a young, regular/large sized adult (young adults do tend to take far more risks though so are more likely to be in bad situations). FYI I don't think sharks are peaceful or misunderstood like some people like to say, we just don't typically activate their predator instincts but if they are hungry and think we are prey for whatever reason then they will absolutely give us a taste test. Sharks tend to taste us and lose interest because we are very lean and boney compared to their usual prey.

even as a minnesotan i can say that this man has not seen a gater in its natural habitat because them fuckers can JUMP and outrun you even on land (they arent persistence runners so they just do one big sprint instead of a full chase) literally the safest place is the vents on a top floor or the ceiling because no one knows how many gaters would be patrolling between them and the jet-skis so unless you are the main character id personally stay on the roof
