One thing I like about this movie is the fact that the characters have to go through a ton of different plans and ideas before they find what works. Having characters magically find super complicated and specific solutions is very unrealistic and far less satisfying.

@TheEstafista3 жыл бұрын
He would be a worst team mate ever. Just for talking sht abaut Mr White. Mr White was a key to alot of things that happened. He was first one to talk to others. He discovered that they can move, stand up, walk etc. He was the only one who pointed out how basic all the rules are. Dont talk to guards/examinator. Don't spoil your paper. Don't leave. He even pointed out that everything else is permited because it isin't mentioned as not permited. On top of that he eliminated 2 others. One that he back-stabbed, and other who he understood enough to manipulate him into eliminations (Before you respond to this I'm trying to avoid what's called "result bassed analysis"). Now things he got horribly wrong: "I would try to lure Mr. White to the door and push him out". This is the worst thing that you can do. Mr White was the most dangerous person in that room. Loud, abnouxous, racist to some level, abusive. We as society tend to avoid people like that if we can. And even if eliminating person like this might seem like something a real "Hero" would do that at the same time means you are now most dangerous person in a room. If people team up you wont be in that team. So better to lay low and watch what happens from a far while agreeing with everyone in turns to keep people on the good side. "If company installed 3 types of lights and using them leads nowhere... it's a distraction". Not really. I would never make this assuption. In fact if they did this, this is either a way to the anwser or they started tracking from the wrong point and they found this a bit to early to understand. Looking for clues would be main priority. Also this might be a way to waist some time, in that case time is very important. So no one would ever jump to a conclusion that this is a distraction. "It was stupid of Mr White to tell the true abaut him eliminating Brown on purpose". Couldn't agree more, Cinema finally made a point I can agree on! "Plant theory abaut Mr Deaf". Yeah everything he says there is just a way to brag because he watched the movie and knows this. He doesn't make a single decent point abaut this. And glasses being dropped was missed by everyone. So none of his arguments hold up. AND he already pointed out that each of them really diffrent from diffrent regions with nothink in common. This guy doesnt look like any of them, and brakedown during test might be for loads of other reasons starting with simple fears (claustropfobia) to just pure pressure abaut him getting a job and seeing that he has no chanse. So going for "he must be a plant" ""Guess" is not a guess but just using information he has that he normaly wouldn't. "Acusations abaut Mr White being a plant". Now This THIS makes sence. He was the most active one who made everyone think, move comunicate. He did some good and some bad at the start. That is how a plant would work in this type of scenario. Just imagine them sitting there for 80mins not doing anything. Mr White was responsibe for most of the teamwork they did. He MAY be a plant

If you had replied "no" the logic is thus: Asking him any questions is a breach of the rules. Some people argue it hadn't started yet. Regardless if it had started or not you're giving an answer, not asking him a question. So yes or no theoretically would be fine and offer no reprisal. It's unclear if someone had answered yes and then proceeded with a question as the proctor clearly asked for a question which in itself is an answer.
@--florien--2 жыл бұрын
what if someone did have a question? wouldnt they lose?

@@--florien-- No. The answer to pass was not having the right answer, it was having the right question. The whole point of the test was for the candidates to understand the question. Those who would've realized what the question was and answered with a yes or no at the end would have passed since they were smart enough to find out what the question meant. Their answer as yes or no probably would not have affected if they passed.

Unless they made the paper entirely waterproof, which seems impossible considering you can write on it with pencils, so it isn't laminated, that means that Candidate 4 ruined her own paper as soon as she turned on the sprinklers, while the other papers are safe since the other candidates didn't cause the sprinklers to turn on themselves.

If you can't write on the paper or speak to the invigilator/those behind glass, then how do you answer if you just realized the answer 5 minutes in? Maybe just say it loudly not looking at anything "My answer is No!"? You wouldn't neccessarily know about the French guy. The instructions and answer do not say or even imply you need to know about him nor do they imply you need to disqualify all the other applicants. You just need to answer the question. Someone pushing you out of the room would actually be a huge advantage since the rules don't require you to be in the room. As long as you were forced out and didn't choose to leave, you could presumably stay out there without being disqualified. You could just stand in the doorway listening in on everything and be totally safe from the other applicants when shit starts hitting the fan. You have to ruin your page yourself to get disqualified, and they can't physically force you to do anything without leaving the room and disqualifying themselves.

That is so smart! The only way to get disqualified then would be talking to one of the two men you're not allowed to talk to. A disadvantage would be an inability to look for clues, so you'd just be left there listening and thinking, possibly being lied to by the people still in the room.

Your suit's itching too much, you feel the sweat on your skin, you groan and grumble quietly to yourself. This latest exam proctor is going on about rules and they all sound like the usual jargon. Right as you're about to pass out, you snap awake, hearing the proctor ask "Are there any questions?" And you, half-dazed as you are, respond absentmindedly saying "No questions... Zzrnff..." Suddenly, the glasses-wearing man in front turns around, grasping your hand in a handshake. You have the job. ...And five other people shocked and screaming that you won by accident.

No cause you talked to the instigator. You gotta figure out who's the CEO first and then tell him no.
@zenriboakwon29213 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I remember the first time I watched this and realizing that the question was verbally given not long after they flipped the paper. The papers are blank because it's an ORAL exam and that's also why you can't spoil your own paper in any way. You're not supposed to answer on the paper. Also, the wording isn't just relevant to the rules, but to who can pass because it wasn't stated that only ONE could pass: "who leaves this room with a contract of employment and who leaves with the bus fare home." More than one could have passed if they answered verbally at the same time while addressing each other because, as within the rules, candidates can talk to each other freely. Doing it that way would've gotten all of them jobs within the corporation. I think the best strategy would be to write the rules down of the test on the desk and to work together using those rules and more importantly, the description of the test: "the test is simple." Meaning, like you said, everything in the room is a red harring and you're supposed to go by the description and rules given to you and ONLY that. You can talk to one another, hence why Deaf has something important to the test, IE his glasses, because at that moment he's CEO playing candidate, someone the others can interact with and not face repercussions (the only loophole tbh). Get rid of the ones who don't want to cooperate, IE White, if needed and answer at once. The main issue is the answer part, but also not really. Again, "the test is simple" and more importantly, "there's one question and one answer is required." REQUIRED implying there is no right answer because he would have said "and there's one answer." So they could all answer at once to each other and it wouldn't really matter what they answered, either "yes" or "no" or "maybe," a one-word answer because there's ONE answer you need to give.

The "company" was the SCP foundation. The tests they are doing are perfect for a researcher at the foundation, as they must learn from the fall of others, think in non-normal ways, and work intelligently under pressure of loss of life or job. They also somehow seem to care an awful lot about a job which they can't describe, for a company they don't know, and for reasons none of them state. That sounds like classic amnestic to me. Blocking out the memories of the "company" itself while leaving their motivation still there. Similarly, the man says that they'll be working for the rest of their lives, I suspect he says this because you can never leave the foundation once you're in it. More-over, a pill which cures anything? That's literally just SCP - 500. I think they're in a standard light containment cell, as it's got several inches of concrete as the walls, a thin steel sliding door, and bullet-proof glass for observations. While still not being a completely unbreakable bunker.

@@orang9134 Yeah, true. Even the one instance where it seemed like someone died(Mr. Black), it turns out the gun was loaded with a bullet that isn't even lethal, and in fact, heals the target, indicating that the Invigilator would rather not have bodies on him.

The fact that there are 5 or so theories in here on how the puzzle is broken is a bad sign for the movie. The movie didn't explain anything about if you're supposed to answer to the room itself or the French man, or before the timer is set or after. The logical assumption is that if you talk to any authority you lose, and if the time runs out you lose. Furthermore, the woman had to hold up a chunk of glass to use in combination with the glasses, implying that smashing things was a requirement to get the clue. Either that or the woman who knows French has way too much of an advantage. The answer, as I see it, is, "Yes, there was a question, and it was 'Any questions?'" The paper even had Question 1 written on it, so again you could say, "Yes, there is a 'Question'; the word 'Question' is written right here."

7:59 I am dubious that holding a broken UV florescent tube up to an incandescent light will work in this situation. Technically, yes, the phosphor coating on the florescent tube is what absorbs and re-emits the light in the UV wavelength. However, I am quite skeptical that they will be able to put enough energy into those phosphors to generate a suitable amount of UV light. Especially so with all the other visible light in the room that would be washing it out.
@animowany1112 жыл бұрын
UV is a higher energy spectrum of light than visible, and fluorescence and phosphorescence effectively always reduces the energy of light. A high energy photon must excite an atom into a higher energy state, then that atom must re-emit that energy, and when it does so it always does so at a specific wavelength matching the difference in the atom's energy states. Quantum mechanics means you can't excite an atom without a single photon having sufficient energy to pass the band gap (more photons doesn't do it).

Yeah the video creator is full of shit. The mercury vapor in fluorescent lamps emits UV on its own - phosphors change the lamp color and protect us from UV.
@57thorns9 ай бұрын
You are correct, the light source in fluorescent lamps emits a high amount of UV radiation, plus that the glass used in "normal" lamps block uv radiation. The only things "special" about the glass in a UV light is that: A) It has no fluorescent coating to change the UV to visible. B) the glass allows UV through.

12:13 "When he steps in front of the doorway, I'd push him out, forcing him to get disqualified" You're wrong! They specifically said in the movie that the person has to get out willingly, so pushing someone out wouldn't do anything. It might even get YOU disqualified, but not them.
