well it did have a lot of side effects this in fact multiversal for the simple reason that an older version of herself doesn't exist there which means that her and the killer aren't actual paradoxes and reality is getting rewrited but from other timelines , let's call timeline1 the killer's origin in which he doesn't actually time traveler to the past he gets to timeline2 where the main character originates but this timeline has a killer too which both the MC and the killer to timeline3 and they go to timeline 6 (future like timeline 3)since it had the same history as timeline 3 but an older Mc isn't there so it has it's timeline 1 and 2 equivalents 4 and5 and finally since her sister and the others remember her it means she must be in the same timeline or a copy of it in the latter case we have 6 more timelines making it 12 or 6 at minimumif you think the mc coming back to to her sister isn't another split or infinte timelines at maximum

8:21 Physics Models actually suggest that time paradoxes aren't a thing. Like Marvel said: when you go back in time the Present no longer exists, the time traveller is simply a person who exists in that time period and that is now their present day. If they were to go back to the present, even if they stopped themselves from existing in that time period, it would not affect the traveller other then that they wouldn't be known by anyone or the details of their life would be different, for example people would take it as divine resurrection if your younger self died and you didn't look much different.
@GorblinRat16 күн бұрын
The butterfly effect and timeline paradoxes are just assumptions about something we don't actually know for sure because it's purely functional, so I don't really think fiction has to follow those expectations tbh
@supersaiyanbino16 күн бұрын
I think the way Professor Hulk explained it made the most sense in what would happen, where whatever we change will have no impact on the past, and just brances out to a new timeline, but like you said, we don't know...Be cool though!!
@kamikeserpentail377814 күн бұрын
Nah, relativity already demonstrates that different objects travel through time at different rates, based on relative speed and proximity to mass. It's important to take that into account for our GPS satellites. What this means is that the past and the future are pretty likely set in stone. So time travel would only be possible in a way such that it fulfills what already happened, or has no impact at all. Alternatively, if the multiverse theory is correct, you could jump into a different universe that appears to be your past, but would have no actual impact on your present, only the future of that universe. Time paradoxes are only paradoxes in thought experiments, you can't break reality.
@J.J.Jameson_of_Daily_Bugle8 күн бұрын

There are 4 timelines in this movie if I remember right. Evil Quinn is from Timeline A which creates Timeline B and Lucy after he went back in time and killed her sister. In fact the flash she saw was the loop of him going back in time like he did in timeline A. What's ironic is not only did him doing that create her but it also created the version of him who was the opposite of the killer because Lucy went and created Timeline C that undid her being born in that timeline only but saved her sister and Quinn from being evil. She also helped him see the letter wasn't supposed to be mean. Lucy going to the future of timeline C is when she killed evil Quinn and learned she was never born. But going back to her sister and Quinn resulted in timeline D. I am sure she got by money wise by knowing future events such as stock market and some common knowledge like who won in baseball or football one particular year but other than that, I'm not sure how she got her identity added to the system so she could have a license, social security card and other things needed without telling say NASA about the machine and her story.

@EliTheMac16 күн бұрын
what do you MEAN according to “quantum physics”? i can’t believe 8 people read this bullshit and decided it sounded good enough to like. time travel can’t do anything “according to quantum physics” because time travel is a subject of theoretical physics. so according to theoretical physics, this thing that we may or may not be able to do depending on the expansions of knowledge of quantum theory and wormholes in the future might possibly put one in a different timeline, but we don’t even know if it can happen in the first place. so it’s useless.

@FrimouthPisby16 күн бұрын
Time travel movies are always a hot mess. Time is strictly a measure of change, not a force unto itself. Time as we perceive it is a linear progression of causality, and any alteration to it would fundamentally change the starting point (cause) resulting in absence of said end (effect), meaning it would form a paradox of infinite doing/undoing. The allowance of alterations would not imply a deviation of "timelines" but parallel realities in which alternate events took place as they were intended on those corresponding causal lines. Which is why, as much as I love Back to the Future, it's incredibly dark when you really think about it. Marty didn't go back in time and change his future, he left his own reality and entered a new one at a different point. Which means not only is he now permanently missing from his home reality, it's likely the "time machine" was like Schrodinger's box, keeping HIM as the primary cellular duplicate and eradicating that reality's Marty and allowing him to subsume their life. Which is why, instead of having memories of all the events of his "new" childhood, he only remembers the original. That reality's Marty is GONE and he has stolen their life. Haha, okay, rant over.

So a better way to make sure you can tell them apart is to write something on his back, something the evil quinn can't replicate. Because if the evil quinn can't replicate it, then it's definitely a better way of keeping them all safe.

Is no one else addressing the plot hole of the Time Machine being in 2024, and obviously used right before Lucy uses it? Like, Quinn was literally still a teenager as the killer? What purpose would he have to travel to the future, specifically 2024? It’d be more believable if it was a grown up version lookalike of the actor, but it wasn’t, so we can only assume the dude created time travel after being thrown in a river; like what in the Doc Brown banging his head on a toilet and coming up with the flux capacitor is this?

It was 21 years after, which means the parents got pregnant again 3 years after Lucy’s death. It means MC wouldn’t have an emotional connection. What they should have done is have the anniversary be 10 years after. Because then MC would have been 8 at the time of the party, been at home with her parents like a good child keeping paradoxes away, and thus more emotionally connected.
