Quoting the FAR/AIM is a great skill to have. It will definitely come in handy the next time you get summoned to the FSDO.

Cool video to see you sharing the journey! Thank you. I have my commercial requirements done and am looking to get my checkride done in the next couple months. I wanted to dig into the 300nm dual you mentioned. Everything that I've seen has shown that it actually can't be recorded as dual. The instructor on-board was an allowance given for insurance reasons, but my understanding is that the 300nm XC itself has been be done, with the pilot seeking the license, as PIC, either solo or with an instructor onboard not acting in an instruction capacity. (14 CFR 61.129(b)(4)(i)) There is a 100nm, 2 hour, dual, night flight that is required, but it's not 300nm (14 CFR 61.129(a)(3)(iv)). Anyway, not wanting to get into the weeds, but want to make sure the requirements are understood appropriately by myself, as well as anyone else going after their commercial. All the best on the pursuit of your CPL and happy flying!! Cheers.

I see that your CFI Jim teaches 8’s on pylons the same way I do - you don’t worry around picking your second point until you roll into the second turn, and then whatever is on your wingtip IS your pylon. It’s by far the easiest way. I know you’ll do great on your checkride!
@JustPlaneSilly Жыл бұрын
I prefer that way. You never pick 2 points that are tooo far away that way.

I took my airplane ATP checkride on the fourth of July in Dallas at the Redbird Airport (Now Dallas Executive) and it was well over 100 degrees. The oral was hours long, but the flight was quick because of the heat. I came back a week later and took my MEI checkride at Grand Prairie on the 11th, and it was just as hot!

I love your funny videos. Always have. I’ve decided you do an equally great job with the serious videos, as well. I’ve really enjoyed this series. I hope you plan to do some more of these types of videos.

Multi is directly after commercial then building to ATP minimums. I plan to vlog it all just because this is a significant transition later in life than most.

For the power off 180: set yourself on the longest final you can without risking being short, and save all the drag until you need it. Don't be scared to go around if you're obviously not going to make it. For the ACS, it's a performance maneuver, not an emergency maneuver. The DPE must fail you if you blow the touchdown spot. There's some leeway if you do a go-around though.

i'm a new student flying multiple times a week just south of DFW airport. the ATC guy says, "4-1-celcius... that's hot" LOL. my flight school is pretty busy, so i'm stuck with the hottest part of the day. i'm freaking melting, even with the windows open, until we get up to ~2500ft AGL

Do consider having someone with you, not going solo, just for that weight. I spent too much time practicing PO-180’s solo, but with someone else it was noticeably different and I had to break my methods. Passed, but the Comanche demanded everything from me that day 😅
