I'm so glad that youtube read my soul and brought me to this video. I'm in the process of becoming a digital nomad and in spite I already have a remote job it's not so easy to change the chip. I usually travel as a backpacker who does a lot of things each day, so traveling and staying at the computer most of the day is kind of hard to accept. Also, its a bit hard to get rid of the comfort and safety of having my own place, my car, etc. and transition to sell things and leaving it all behind. I found your video very helpful and inspiring, specially the Advice section, I'm going to put it into action to connect to.nomads in my city and get inspired from them. Thank you Rafa! If you ever come to Colombia I'd be happy to meet you.

Rafa, this video is well-organized. You cover all the key issues. Excellent job. Thank you. Many parts of Bali are not as crowded as Canggu or Ubud. For example, Sanur or North Bali. A working mother from the US is now planning to spend 3 months a year in Sanur because she gets relief from parenting stress. Next door the island of Lombok is still peaceful. Elon Musk recently launched a new Star Link network to improve internet service for Eastern Indonesia. A new 5-year digital nomad visa was recently started. The Mayo Clinic is coming to Sanur, with a new push to medical tourism. Bali - unlike other hubs - is still a magnet for international talent: chefs, designers of jewelry, furniture, apparel, home decor, etc. Soon, great surgeons and nurses too. Unlike other vacation spots, Bali is very much business too. I predict that all the tourists will go to Lombok, while the digital nomads stay in Bali.

Can vouch for this method. For me, the easiest way to get started is a blend between freelancing and your own online business (make it so that one blends into the other). Great vid!

Rafa, you can't just work abroad on a regular W2 remote job. This is simply not good advice. No company will allow that as you create tax liabilities for your employer in the countries that you are working from and you may be visiting countries that your employer is not even set up as a tax entity to operate in - it creates major issues for them and they can be heavily fined. There are also lots of risk and security implications with working on client data from abroad. You have to be careful when providing this advice because people can be fired on the spot if their IP addresses are audited. The only way for people to work abroad is through their own company as a contractor, because then those tax liabilities transfer to themselves.

Great question. There is an entire part of the digital nomad population that are retirees. If you are in your 50s, 60s, or higher, it may seem like only Gen Z types are digital nomads, but there is a huge retirement community as well. The locations of the hubs for the older crowd are probably different though. I know tropical destinations like Costa Rica and The Philippines are big for retirees. I would like to know if there are hubs for nomads in their 40s, 50s, 60s in Eastern Europe though.
