Hello :) thanks I find this series very helpful. If you don't mind I would like to ask for some specific advice. So I am currently a high school sophomore. I have a 4.05 GPA and I rank 1 in my class. However I don't do much outside of school. I am motivated to and I would like to be involved. But is it too late considering I'm almost a junior?

I'm class president, assistant captain of our colorguard team, a member of the Puente club, the new horizons club, and I'll be joining mun + speech and debate. Actually, I have passed my high school. At first, I didn't have any notion of getting into harvard or any American University. But now I want to enroll for these schools and I also think I am too late for this. Ahsante (that's a beautiful name) would you please tell me if I can apply for the college in 2019? do volunteering hours count as extracurriculars? i was really shy in my freshman and sophomore year and didn't join clubs/joined them but left them within a month or two. however, I volunteered often and still do, I have 150+ hours as a junior and I'm aiming to get to 200+ by the time I apply to colleges....I can join some clubs in senior year for sure but I know that's gonna look sketchy (bc I join everything last minute). So do you think volunteering could work on my application in addition to my minimal (smh) extracurriculars? do I even have a chance omg anyways love ur vidz gal they help me out :) xoxox

HEY it was really helpful! just wanted to ask if going for some sports is necessarily important bcoz i dont go for any sports but am a very good speaker . and even can u suggest the best time to give SAT(i mean which grade)

The ultimate cube Anything you can do extra-curricularly is helpful, but sports isn't strictly necessary if it's not your thing. You can take the SAT any time it's offered as long as you take it by your senior fall!

All the IB graduates at my school say that IB really helped them, but they all go to state schools and I figured the Ivies have more demanding curriculums than our state schools.

Honestly I'm not even I'm just the 50 year old woman that wants to get ideas on what she could do to better her community and I just hope that if I meet young people for a brilliant and resilient that I can introduce your videos to them and help encourage them to do more and to be more active in the community I find your videos very relaxing and encouraging and I need that positivity positivity in my life and I'm looking for more ideas to how to motivate young people to do more because there's not that much of motivation or encouragement out here for no racist or you know lower income children I don't see nobody motivating anybody so I want to be able to be that person that can connect someone to you and hopefully they can get the encouragement to do more and if I could be any kind of support that's what I want to be to anybody and I just I love what you're doing I just with your mentality I just pray and hope that you become very very successful and keep on coming back to to the community below you and bring them up bring them higher to another level and I still so much appreciate your gifts and talents

It depends on which graduate school you are thinking about. You can look up the acceptance rates for the business school, medical school, law school, etc. online

A silent "prerequisite" to getting in is taking the most rigorous coursework you possibly can. They're not going to care about one individual class you take. That said, I am taking precalc at a college and I'm in my junior year of highschool-and that does look good so I would recommend it. But, the classes you take and their rigor should depend on what you personally are good at.

Tram Cu It's hard to say a specific number of AP classes that you should take, but definitely take some next year. The most selective universities like Harvard want to see that you are challenging yourself and succeeding in school.

Hi! Thank you so much for your videos, they're the most helpful out there! I just completed my freshman year of high school, and I was wondering if you could give me some advice about what steps I could take to increase my chances of getting into an ivy league college. I have all A's and have taken the most rigorous courses available at my school (all honors and AP classes). I am a third degree black belt and have won several awards in tournaments. I got into chamber orchestra this year and have also played the viola for 3 years now. I am also going to an internationally recognized orchestra workshop called the Midwest Clinic with my school orchestra. It receives applicants from all over the world, and only a few are chosen. I have also started a volunteer organization at my school called Pencils of Promise and won 1st in my school for science fair and 2nd in regionals. I was also valedictorian in middle school. Do you have any suggestions about what else I could do to increase my chances? Thanks once again!!

Should I get into IB or just focus on my extracirrucular activities and that stuff, and get recommendations? IB students says it does not worth to spend that much time with IB you can do a lot of stuff to get into Uni in USA and BTW Does us collages recognize IB during application process

You should only take IB classes for the classes you are most successful in. Focus the rest of your time on your extra curricular activities.

You still have time so try to participate in extracurricular activities and Ivy League schools are also looking for leadership so you should have a leadership role in the activities that you do.

abdulsamad aliyu Hi! Typically they want students who will be finishing high school that year, so you would need to wait a few years before you apply. Usually you can defer enrollment for one year in order to pursue some sort of other activity.
