I’m 27 and making $15/hr. My mom was a realtor at one point and is studying to be a mortgage broker and encouraged me to do the same, even though I would’ve never thought twice about this industry. Since the economy is doing not so great I’m really excited for the potential for income when it inevitably picks up. Part of the appeal is that I’ve heard this can be done from home!

It’s a great career, and the industry needs more young, smart, driven loan officers. I say DO IT! Find a local broker that can send you through BrokerX training (provided by UWM starting in October 2024) That’ll provide 5 weeks training and licensing to get your start

When you get your license you need to hang it with a company no? Similar to a real estate agents license - since MTMG isn’t hiring, how does a freshly licensed person determine where he must hang his license?

I’d highly recommend a local person you like and trust that’ll provide training/mentorship and possibly leads. The more reps you get the better, regardless of pay. I’d recommend becoming an assistant to learn the business
