University isnt all practical, depending on the university, you will do like 2 / 3 days a week of practical and or 2 / 3 days of written work in a week so its not just classroom. When you go on placement its about 2 days placement 1.5 days classroom and 1.5 practical.

Informative and honest - refreshing to hear someone speaking from experience. Welldone Ayaz. Can you tell me - in order to go on to a Master Critical Care Paramedic course, do you need to have obtained your primary degree in Paramedicine in University, or will they accept the service route?
@paratube999
@paratube999 3 жыл бұрын
A critical care paramedic is usually a progression role from within an ambulance service, so regardless of what route you took to become a paramedic, you would have to be a Paramedic first and work for a service first before progressing on to critical care. This generally requires a few years in the role and experience. I hope that makes sense
@paratube999
@paratube999 3 жыл бұрын
Now that the ambulance services generally do it as a BSc if you don't already have a BSc and have a foundation degree for example I imagine you would have to do do a top up to a Bsc. So the answer is No it doesn't matter which route you took

Amazing Video and lots of interesting information, your doing a great job saving lives. Got a few questions. Do ambulance services take volunteers to be a paramedic as I always wanted to volunteer as a paramedic for South East Coast Ambulance Service. Do voluntary paramedics need to drive or can they become paramedics without driving as I don’t drive. I am planning on volunteering for a private hire at first. For example St Johns Ambulance or BM Ambulance to get some experience so I can get all the skills I need for becoming a voluntary paramedic. Stay safe Ayaz and all the other paramedic hero’s.
@paratube999
@paratube999 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no there is no such thing as a voluntary paramedic in the context you describe. You could be a first aider and help out on a voluntary basis, but you can't be a Paramedic unless you go to university and study the paramedic science degree, or you train through an ambulance service

Don't forget, you can't save everyone. You'll rock up to a job, do everything prefect and the patient will still die, it's just the way it is. You need to be able to communicate, not just with the patient, but your partner as well. Communication is key in just about any job today. Talk to the patient the way you would want to be dealt with if the roles were reversed. You're going to go to lots of jobs at 1am where you'll be picky up little old granny off the floor, it's just the way it is. Also lots of drug overdoses, depending on your location these jobs are going to take up a bit of your shift. Domestic violence and MVA's, you're going to see it all. You'll need a black sense of humour or sense of humour in general. This is not the job not to have one. You're going to go to jobs where you just want to ask them "Why", why stick that glass coke bottle up your arse, and now it's broken and your arsehole is bleeding from all that glass. Also, you're going to get those frequent flyers. Those people that call an ambulance almost every single day. It's frustrating yes, but you just need to deal with them like you would anybody else. It's not a job for everyone, but it's a rewarding career and if you do your degree in Australia, UK, USA, NZ, South Africa or Canada, you can pretty much work anywhere in the world. Unsure about Israel, but I know their paramedics are trained to a high level as well. And the last thing, as with communication, speak up. You're going to go to some very shit jobs. It might not effect you straight away, but over time it will. Get help and don't bottle it all up. We all break at some point.

I appreciate the content of the videos If anybody in the comment or even the creator himself could answer the following i’d be appreciative. Does going through the service route set you back slightly when further into your career you decide you want to progress into higher levels of Para. Due to the lack of “theoretical knowledge” E.g. Advanced para etc? Or are both routes as accepting as one and other? Thank you

The ambulance service routes are now required by the HCPC to put you through a BSc programme at university, and so effectively you will end up in the same position as someone who trained through university.
