Ive just done my ECA training, station induction was today and first shift tomorrow! They seem to prefer (non-uni) to go via ECA level first (6 week medical course + 4 week blue lights) then after a year of experience you'd get offered an upskill course to technician level. There was a technician apprentiship course going on at the same time, however many were saying its the last one. I havent got my C1 yet (practical next week). You have 3 months after initial training to get it, and you need it for the 4 week blue light course.

Very interesting Jazakallah! I'm currently in sixth form but hoping to go to Uni to study paramedic science soon so I've been finding your videos very useful so thank you. Would you be able to do a video focused on 'A day in the life' sort of thing, or talking about what to expect and prepare when going on placement for the first time e.c.t ?

My closest ambulance service only offers the student paramedic course for internals only. Is there a away to become an app without going to uni?
@paratube9994 ай бұрын
The AAP course doesn’t require you to go to university. A few trusts run the AAP programme and some private providers also do the course, but the AAP course is specifically designed for progression on to a paramedic course, so it’s worth checking what processes the private companies have in place. I presume they are only companies that have NHS frontline contracts and you do your practical hours on the frontline with the private company

Can an International student from India apply to become a paramedic in the UK? Also is it compulsory for a Paramedic to know how to drive the ambulance to get a job? Please reply
@paratube9996 ай бұрын
I don’t think you can from India but I think some ambulance trusts have programmes for international students. You would have to check with individual trusts. And yes it is compulsory to be able to drive, and most services require a category 1 license for vehicles upto 7.5T. This is a must as you will need to do the blue light CERAD training. It’s unusual now to find not driving paramedics, as emergency situations may require you to drive
@msheefa12346 ай бұрын
@paratube7453 Thank you so much for replying 😊 Can you guide me with how can I check through individual trusts for the programs? Also I have a car driving license from India, will that be valid in any way in the UK for Paramedic license?

university debt isnt that bad then people make it out to be. i know that anyone whose probably started a degree before 2020, you pay a certain percentage of it back depending on what you earn per month. if you dont go over the threshold once you start earning, you dont give anything back, if u go over the threshold you will have to pay a percentage back per month. if you dont pay all of it back after 30 years, even if you just paid 100 pounds within the 30 years, then it gets cancelled out and you dont pay anything back after 30 years ONCE you start paying the first month of student loans(THIS IS WITH SLC). And in all honesty, most people are on mortgages, loans from bank, credit cards, overdrafts and many other things, so what difference does it make anyways? and yes university lifestyle brings its advantages, id say BIG advantages, i've met so many people from various degrees, cultures, ethnic backgrounds and i get free holidays resorts from other countries such as switzerland from someone i know from another degree and many other people that i socialise with. You also get to meet other course tutors from other degree programmes and if you dont think you're at the right spot of being a paramedic, you can literally transfer in your second year to a nursing degree to make it fit ur personality, or a radiography degree and currently right now, we all know what the nhs is going through and that the majority of the workforce do not look after there WELLBEING (VERY IMPORTANT) Currently right now, regardless if you go through the university or ambulance route, we all have to work together to ensure that the wellbeing of BOTH parties is good so that ambulances have a better outcome of being happy and therefore has a better patient outcome. I don't understand why there is currently a battle of which pathway is better amongst paramedics, at the end of the day both routes want to save lives, so look after eachother regardless -.- currently the average paramedic only lasts for 2-5 years in the UK which is a VERY short career, and ambulance services need to do a better job to look after both routes of staff whether it be the university route or the ambulance route. please for god sakes, look after eachother
