But what about the fact that record labels don't sign rock bands anymore because there is no money in it? People don't pay for music and bands are expensive. Would you respect a solo rock artist who played guitar but made his drums with drum machines etc.? What's the solution? You see more singular artists than bands nowadays, is rock dead?

Great question! I think it just depends what you want to be. Cat Stevens was a creator who played all the instruments... Many music creators use drum machines & tech to create music. Some if it sounds awesome. I think it's great for people to get to play with music and enjoy it. BUT, if you want to be a true rock STAR... long-term... I don't think there are shortcuts. I think you live it for decades... because you love it... not because of the money. (Not that the money is bad, but it's not the focus for the true musician). What makes you money these days is not always what makes great music. Just my 2 cents... Thanks for commenting!

Not to me. I still keep playing some of the great old stuff (70s-90s) and still like a lot that has come out since the 2000s. There's not as much of it, in my opinion, but still some great bands.

@Aizik Giusti, You can sell your soul and everything else you and your next door neighbor has. But, you'll never get as big as the Beatles,Elvis,Michael Jackson,etc... in music today! Not to discourage new up and coming musicians, there's still room to be successful. Yet, not to that level anymore, there's just to many factors that backup the reasons. Time period, the business, originality, a truer loyal fan base, an overwhelming new sound & genres, and so on!
