I live in New Jersey and am working on getting a production company that will be up and running sometime in 2023. I am also a writer and would-be filmmaker and have been writing many screenplays, and I am also speaking to people who can help me make my dream of building a production company and making the movies I would like to make. I am a DIY person and look for opportunities for writing in my own state, primarily online. I also read screenplays and books on screenwriting and watch channels (like yours) on the craft and business of screenwriting and filmmaking.

I’m currently writing my very first full feature film and already have plans for my next screenplay.

My strategy for writing screenplays is re-writing and re-vising several times before having someone in the industry look at it and then even more re-writing and re-vising after feedback. Once I’m confident enough in screenplay to the point where I feel I could pitch to Oprah, that’s how I know I’m ready to get it produced, pitched, etc

In this day and age, unless you wanna write for tv, there’s absolutely no need to live in LA. Most of the meetings are on zoom, now.

"Somewhat precarious"? Who're you kidding? It's the case of the vast majority, including successful ones. Check out Blake Snyder's imdb credits, for starters. Plus writing every day is not what real professionals do, by any means. They write when they have something to say. And IF you have nothing to say, you're only doing it for the money, no matter what you tell yourself - so why keep flogging yourself?

@@chrisjohnson8227 Depends on your age. I wrote a couple of dozen episodes in French for TV cartoon series, most of which were also adapted into English for Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network in the '90s or 2000s - Plus dialogues in English for a few (Space Goofs, Tootuff), as well as countless English adaptations of French TV shows. (Vik the Viking, Maya the Bee, The Magical Garden of Antoon Krings and many more.) I switched to mainly doing that after 10-15 years of scriptwriting because it's much less time-consuming and leaves me time for other writing projects.
