The difference between straight A students and failing students (from a straight A student’s perspective). When a straight A student says “I haven’t studied for this test”, they mean - I haven’t done any specific revision for this test but I study everything on a regular basis anyway. When a failing student says “I haven’t studied for this test” they mean they haven’t even thought about the material that might come up.
@slaysaver94285 жыл бұрын
true and its kinda sad knowing that even though they would have high grades, they would overall be disappointed of their score because "they havent studied". btw i am just in between the failing and straight As

My teacher made his own book, but used the general tests.. so we had to understand stuff from a book we didn’t have and our book that was written by him didn’t help us at all! And the teacher didn’t want to help us, because “it’s all in the book”

I still managed to get a A in the class.

In my honors class I've realized there are 3 types of people. 1. People who are naturally smart and dont do any extra work. I realized that they soon slack of because they become lazy and there grades also drop even though they are "gifted" 2. The people who are "smart" because of there hard work. People who aren't naturally "gifted" . endless study sessions, all nighters. It really isnt healthy and i realized that healthier habits like sleeping longer and eating better help. 3. Naturally smart and hardworking. Personally think they have a great balance. Also they typically arent vain or show off about things anx are eager to learn more. Trust me im no expert i guess I'm just giving my 2 cents
@hanaahmeti82565 жыл бұрын
I also think that students who are smart and hardworking have a great balance.I've seen a lot of students like that but I don't think they have a 'healthy' mindset.If they fail at something not very important, they go crazy over that little thing , meanwhile people who are not gifted but they work hard enough , have more of an healthy mindest because they know thet failing at something or making mistakes is the process of learning so they are able to get up and work harder, while for the 3d type ,it's harder

im going to be a 3rd year student in college this year. im starting a new major which makes me feel like i am getting a brand new start to implement more efficient note taking, studying, organization, etc. i “wasted” my first two years of college struggling to pass every class i took. i was in a major that interested me, but i wasn’t very good at it. i always assumed that if you like something, you’ll automatically be good at it and will succeed. this is definitely not the case, which unfortunately took me half of my college years to learn. thank you for these videos! they are actually practical, make sense, and easy to implement. :)

so in middle school during my 8th grade year, i had all A's. and no, this isn't some kind of gloating comment, but i wanted to share what i did somehow. 1. i barely did my homework in time. i would start my hw at like 8pm, and when i didn't understand, i would ask my friend for help, since she's better at those things than me. so yeah, i was a big procrastinator... i got all of my assignments and homework done no matter what, though. whether i'd make it up or finish it in school the next morning, i never missed an assignment. i think this is what kept my grades pretty steady. 2. i put most of my efforts in bigger assignments, like essays, tests, etc. those assignments were the ones that boosted my grade up the most, so i didn't really care that much about things like homework. i ended up scoring 80-95s on those assignments, and it boosted up my grade 6 points max. for example, in social studies, i used to have an 85 in the class. but i took my exit project VERY seriously and got a great score on it. it was out of 270 points btw, and since i got 240/270 on the project, my grade boosted up by 6 points and ended up getting a 91 for the term. 3. i didn't take that much effort into studying for tests. honestly, studying herder made me forget the questions a bit more, and i tend to work better basically reviewing the content about 3 times before putting everything away. i scored around the 80s-100s on my tests/quizzes, so for me, it's worth it. and lastly, i had fun! believe it or not, having a lot of fun definitely helped me get my grades up. i thought that if i had a great time while at school, it could help me get over with bringing my grades up already, so i could fool around later on in the year. it definitely helped me achieve the grades i wanted. yeah uh sorry for the long paragraph, but i thought i could share how i got to achieve my goals! good luck to anyone who is planning to go beyond their expectations for the incoming school year!

It seems we all still need some emotional comfort. That's why we still watch this motivational videos for students, listen to advice we never used and will never use. Just to feel that vibe of self-organization and motivation, to go back in time to the period when everything was simple, the scariest thing was to get a bad grade or not to have enough time to get homework done. Oh shit.

Can we also talk about how not everyone is made out to be a straight A student? I've always been really academic and good at studying, but getting a 100% is close to impossible in our Universities. As a future teacher, I honestly would love for students to realize that not everyone can achieve perfect scores no matter how much they study and not everyone has to. However, everyone can be a good student with these kinds of methods and enough discipline but doing your best is more than enough - no matter the results. I'm really intrigued about the book though so I think I'm gonna get it :D

Don't just memorize what you study. Try explain it out loud what you have learnt (to yourself or someone else). "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." - Albert Einstein. Also eating healthy food, getting daily exercise and a night of good sleep (7-9 hours each night) are going to make you perform better in school but so many miss out on those, especially sleep which is going to help your memory. Start studying the most difficult subjects first and end with the easiest ones. Study smart, not harder.
