Hey Josh, my name is Ryan Bloomfield and I was born with a very rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa or E.B for short. Basically, this condition causes me to have sensitive skin so falling in any way from skateboarding, surfing etc is not good for me. Also because of this, my hands are slightly deformed and I have been dealing with this my entire life. I have a very positive outlook on life and go to college to pursue my BA. My father was a marine who lost his life in the war in Iraq in 2005 as well, when I was about 12 years old, throughout all of these difficulties I have managed to stay happy and positive. About a year ago, I decided that although I love the school I wanted to do something bigger with my life and just today I came across your video. It really hit home with me, and I want to also inspire others as you have! I believe that not only am I have a very unique but so is my situation and I want to share this with others and continue inspiring others as I do just when I meet people on a daily basis. I don't care about the money or any of that. I just want my story to be heard and help inspire others in their time of need.

Hi Josh, Thank you so much for this video... I am a social worker and I do therapy with male youth residing in a group home. I've have a very difficult year and have not been feeling as though the work I'm doing was making a positive impact. To know that you survived and have chosen to inspire others is really inspiring. I actually found your video because I am thinking about talking about my unique story through motivational speaking. Thanks again!

Good points. The last thing that kids need is a boring speaker. It's encouraging to hear that a speaker was able to be effective. I've heard that about talking to a friend. It seems to help.

Hi Josh, What totally hit home for me. Because when you said your biggest mistake was not just being yourself! But that is my biggest strength I want to be able to get that other people of my life experiences I’ve been through a lot in life ( being a straight guy in cosmetology world and hearing and being a psychiatrist as well as a life coach for people and myself) that was also a bouncer in the night clubs and mentally abused by my father and came out on top to always understand the people from the heart and understand that everybody has issues and to put my feelings aside and see things through other peoples eyes be humble most of all I would hope that you could be my mentor and contact to at least have an interview and see if I have something that you believe that I can get other people as I do I truly believe in myself and I’ve gone through reliving this for about 20 years and helping people but my biggest thing advice to people is that if you don’t want to be helped can’t be helped you have to see the problem before you can fix it hopefully I hear from you soon I really like to express myself and make people was better by giving them the The Raw truth about themselves and how to move on and make themselves better regardless of who has harmed you and not blame them for you not moving on! I really want to move forward with this is something I want to give to others I have moved on and realize that some people just can’t see the light and you have to see them for that and be humble! Hopefully I’ll hear from you soon much respect look at you as a mentor hopefully you can be that Thomas Pellegrino 201-341-6144 or email TPellegrino73@gmail.com I would love to hear a voicemail if not speak to you in person email but it would be a start thank you

I'm currently in college and will be taking a Public Speaking class in the Spring. I also plan on doing a podcast, website and blog. Would you say to start building my platform now? Also what tips would you have for me as I start my Public Speaking class? If I wanted to continue building my skills beyond that to be a Motivational Speaker/Coach versus a traditional Public Speaker, what would you suggest?

The only way to is to practice it. All the top people of their industry, had gone through the same thing you are thinking... Just pop up a camera on Tripod and practice, don't delete the the roll, just keep watching yourself and learn from your mistakes... In reality, 20 to 50 times, you will start to see a change...

I have a good message and i have a good heart but the thing is i'm not a confident speaker but i'd like to become a confident speaker to put out there to people all the knowledge and i have and believe and inspire people to become a better person and just make people happy and to be able to find out who they really are. When i speak out loud i confuse mt self and i forget what i am trying to say all the time and the message i am trying to get across doesn't get across, sometimes.

@newanduniquevideos10 жыл бұрын
Signature term "sort of"; eliminating that would improve your public speaking skills. Also, when you preface a thought with "To be honest," it infers that you haven't been honest up to that point. Other than those observations, good tips, thanks!
@mlynn123110 жыл бұрын
I don't agree. "to be honest with you" does it in for that. That phrase is employed when someone is about to be CANDID. In no way does it in for that the speaker has been dishonest up until that point. That is a big very annoying miss that continues to be spread, in sheer defiance of what is obvious.
@newanduniquevideos10 жыл бұрын
mlynn1231 I suppose we agree to disagree then, because I feel that it is not only an irksome phrase but an empty one, too (as far as good writing or speaking - it's "fluff"), and it's tenuous to discount someone's feelings.
@mlynn123110 жыл бұрын

LOL A Virgin Tomorrow, why are you suddenly reigniting this conversation? It's been six months and I had completely forgotten all about it. I shared my opinions with you - as a professional writer and video producer - in a nice little debate. No call for insults. I do not understand why you are so irate and bitter, SIX MONTHS LATER. What is up with that?

So...I am absolutely in love with public speaking but I wouldn't say I'm like everyone else. Mostly because I have a speech impediment (where I stutter 24/7). What concerns me is that when I take public speaking classes in College...will I be docked off points for stuttering? and how do I become a motivational speaker when not everyone is patient? :/

I'm from Indonesia and want to become a motivational speaker to share some inspiring messages to the world. you seem to be quite honest & sincere in your video, which is what I really respect & admire, because in today's "anything goes" modern 21st era, sadly, there are also way too many liars and snakes oil type of "motivational speakers" that only trick people especially gullible un-critical people just to make money out of them! very selfish & dirty. you don't seem like that.

If I HAVE GOT THIS RIGHT, I think why you get confused while speaking loudly is because at the back of your mind, you are thinking about what the audience might be thinking, whether you are doing your job well or not. In short, the fear and the critical feedback. Your mind is now engaged with that. If you think of your audience as people like you, your friends or colleagues or acquaintances (I presume that you are sociable) you will lose the fear and be yourself. The solution:Be Fearless!

xxxloverboyxxx Ogden the most motivational thing that will happen to you is "your mindset" start believing in yourself. Believe that you will rise.......you can. That's the magic. Then you'll develop an insatiable desire for knowledge. Know yourself and "know something about everything around you"..... Your attitude will attract a mentor into your life... He/she might say "hey this young champ is inquisitive" I would like to help him/her.

OMG , that comment you just wrote is so inspirational on its own, I'm in a similar situation, addiction/ mental health/ trauma .... like a soap opera. I see that you are all that also but WOW you can word your story beautifully , you seen so articulate. My problem is confidence and not being able to find the words I need to describe things I want to say, even now I'm struggling with " spelling & where to start"" it's great that you got out of the dark , in still sort of there. I wish you all the luck in the world on ur way to teaching and helping people, I think you'll be a blessing to so many souls. X x x
