This video is so refreshing. It feels good to see other UX designer who has interests (like fashion, music, etc.) outside of work/the norm. Motivated to get back on track. I was recently turned down from my first UX job opportunity and felt like giving up. Looking at ways to gain more experience and be more competitive.

Can I just say, THANK YOU for creating this! We have a similar background - I have a Health Science degree and always thought I'd end up on a pre-med track...but also I'm a very creative individual (I'm a painter) and always felt like I was neglecting that part of me going on that path. UX just seems to be the perfect fit, I'm at the beginning stages of studying but this has given me a lot of confidence in the decision I made. You are awesome!

@GretaLunaPriego4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bria! Thanks for your comment :) Great question! I love staying up to date through LinkedIn-- I connected with a few UX and Product Designers, and they often post interesting articles they've read! I also love Medium.com-- they have a bunch of amazing articles written by UX Designers, Researchers, Product Designers, etc. I try to read one a day if I can. I'm also currently reading "The Design of Everyday Things" by Don Norman-- he's a pioneer in the world of ux design! There's also lots of great UX Design podcasts that are awesome to listen to!

All I've heard on forums and discussion sites in the last 2 years is that UX design is oversaturated at the junior level because of the secondary education market and it's ludicrously successful marketing campaign which made entry into UX seem like an easy and low-investment path for those who couldn't find work in their intended field or were unsatisfied with their current careers. I fall into the second category, but I'm really wary of the current job market and it's turning me off to the idea of pursuing this field at all.

Can I ask what job you had before UX? I’m really worried because I’m in college right now also for a language major but settled on this career path. The thing is I not only have no related work experience but literally none to begin with which worries me because I’m sure most people transition from at least something..

I hear you, I actually went abroad to teach English in France after I graduated. It gave me a chance to reflect on what I wanted to do. You really do not have to have something related to UX, it's hard, but it's possible to switch! I'd recommend trying out a bootcamp if you feel it's right for you.

Hi Greta! Found your youtube channel and I have been watching your videos non stop since yesterday 😂 this video was super helpful as I am also considering pursuing UX Design. I was wondering, is UI Design included in UX Design bootcamps? Do these two ( UX/UI ) always go together?
@aboveasbelowyou3 жыл бұрын
Some boot camps teach both together at one cost and some spilt the class up as two. Try looking up ux jobs in your area to see what their requirements. Because some jobs will hire just a ux designer, some just a ui designer, majority ux/ui. In my opinion is good to learn both if you find a program that teaches both under one class. But if you’re more visual designer…study ui. Vice versa
