Hi Janet! Thank you so much for this video!! I am currently in nursing school studying a BSc.in Nursing (Intellectual Disability/Intellectual Developmental Disability in the US). I'm in my 3rd year (one more year to go!😪) And I already know I do not want to work in this area of nursing. I originally wanted general nursing and then work in med-surg and eventually theatre nurse. Something about working in hospitals especially in the surgical/medical side of things really really interests me. Unfortunately, I did not get to go down that route. I am now looking into Aesthetic nursing (idk how I came across it or thought of it anymore) but I don't know much about it and I am nervous about taking this route because I'm an introvert but when I have patients and in a working environment for some reason I am more extroverted than introverted 😂 I am interested in this type of nursing and the more videos I'm watching I think I'm more interested in the skin care side of things and laser hair removal sounds pretty cool!
@NurseJanetG4 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Wow what a journey! Do you live in another state? I didn't know nurses had to choose a specialty in school! I just did general and you could technically get a job anywhere! I am the most extroverted introvert out there lol I am super shy, but at work and with my patients I am different. That is a good balance, you will be just fine :) always just find a connection with your patients and build trust! it goes such a long way. I can recommend a few good skincare books for you! go ahead and email me and ill link them :) Skincare took me a while to get the hang of, but now I love it!

However, I am excited about going into aesthetics as it's different and I really didn't know that there was such a thing as aesthetic nursing. It sounds pretty cool! Thanks for the tip of developing a relationship with patients as an introvert 😂And Yes I will send you an email for the skin care books. Looking forward to more videos on your channel! 😊👍🏾

Ugh! It’s so frustrating lol! I’ve a nurse for 7 years I’ve been trying to get into esthetics. I got my esthetician license last year. Now I’m thinking about taking filler/Botox classes but I don’t want to waste my time or money if they don’t consider it experience.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way..consider it as an investment in YOU :) ! Even if you take one thing from those courses, that is HUGE!

Hi! I see you went to Mount Saint Mary’s University! I am currently a high school senior and I was recently accepted into the pre-nursing program there. I really want to be an Aesthetics nurse but confused on what some of the steps are to become one. So after finishing nursing school, in order to obtain your certificates to be able to administer Botox, were these classes fairly hard or easy to pass since they were only 1-2 days? I was also wondering how long it took you to become an Aesthetics nurse excluding the amount of time you were a floor nurse? I’m only a 17 year old and still trying to figure things out and your help would really mean a lot! xo
@NurseJanetG4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie! Omg yayyyy! Congrats!!! So after you are done, you have two choices: 1. Find a job that will train you to do Botox, Fillers, etc (some plastic surgeons will). 2. Take a certificate class FIRST (I know few people who have done this without a job) and then go find a job. This is probably not the ideal way. I would say find a place to work FIRST (like a surgeons office or laser place) and let them know you want to take the dive into aesthetics. The courses aren't like you take a test after. You learn about Botox and filler and then you do it yourself with your instructor watching.This is why I think it is SOOOO important to find a SMALL class setting. That way the instructor can watch you! I did a one day class on Botox and injectables and then just began injecting that very week! This was also 4 years ago and this field wasn't as big. Nowadays, you can shadow someone! We have shadowing and interning at The Things We Do :) when you're ready, you can reach out :)

Hi! I have a question. I'm interested in pursuing this career and I was wondering if getting an ADN to take the NCLEXRN to become a RN is good enough/a good route to become an Aesthetic Nurse. Or is it more favorable if you have a BSN? As you mentioned doing a whole 4-year nursing school to be an Aesthetic Nurse is a long and hard process so I'm just looking to do it in the least amount of time with enough credentials. Hoping for your response!

Did you say that you can be in this field just working for a surgeon who trains you , and you don’t have to be an RN? I thought you had to be an rn to do this and have a bsn??????

I want to work in the field of injectables such as botox and lip filler . Do you recommend me to do a medical assistant program then get my certificate in filler and then look for a job at a spa? Or should I go for my associate's degree in nursing?
@amielynn265710 ай бұрын
At the beginning you said you don't recommend going to school for four years to be a RN incase you don't like it just to become an aesthetic nurse and then you say get your RN license and then try to get into a surgeons office that might possibly train you as an aesthetic nurse... So confused. Is there away to become an aesthetic nurse/injector without a 4 year degree or not?

Hello thank you for sharing ! I have a question I’m looking to start in this field and I am in California so I know I need to go to nursing school . I was thinking on going to beauty school and becoming a esthetician and then going into the nursing program . Do u think it’s a good idea or just a waste bc it won’t help ?

Hey guys I’m about to enroll into esthetician school , and once I get certified I’m hoping to attend a RN program ! I took a CNA class to see if I was okay with the nursing field I highly suggest ! I'm confused, didn't you say you had to be a to at least a nurse in the beginning? But then you say, you can go work anywhere without nursing school?? I'm genuinely asking I'm a fully licensed cosmetologist, (so licensed as an esthetician) but Ive been focused on hair thus far, and Im curious as to how to make the leap, and how far I can leap lol.
@prttymama64 жыл бұрын
The Practical Beautician, Hey! I can answer that question for you :) I’m actually a licensed cosmetologist as well and I’m in nursing school now going for Aesthetics nursing. What I think she means is don’t go into nursing school simply for the fact of that you want to work in aesthetics because it could not work out and now you went to nursing school for 2-4 yrs which is very stressful and stuck with a degree where you don’t even want to work as a nurse.

I agree with Maria! Sorry I saw this question so late :( I love questions so no worries! This stuff is so confusing so any way I can help clear it up! For you, if you live in Cali you would have to go to nursing school! I don't think it is a bad thing to go JUST for aesthetic nursing, but I do think it is quite a commitment (mentally and physically)!

Ok so I'm in Georgia, I am 100% interested in medical aesthetics. (Plastics, my own spa, skies the limit) Problem is I have no clue where to get started.. DO I go to nursing school or WHAT.. when I asked people about it I never got anything clear because they just acted like I wanted their business. I'm 35 and just need to figure out what to do to get there and actually make money doing it. So a little help plz. :)

Hi Crystal! Sorry it took me so long. I am unsure about the scope of nurses in Georgia, but I would check to see if RNs can do aesthetics in the state and if so, nursing school :)

Hi! I’m currently a nurse in California and would like to know how you transitioned into laser hair removal from working at a hospital. How did you gain experience to get hired? Or did they train you on the job? Thanks!
@NurseJanetG4 жыл бұрын
Hi Amber!! I was working both jobs at the same time and 3 weeks into layering/injecting, I quit the hospital. I just took the dive and it was a huge risk for me and my husband (a student at the time) financially, but I did it because I knew that I had to be 110% available in this field. I had ZERO experience and they trained me on the spot. That was 4 years ago and this field wasn't as popular.
