Is getting a part-time job (Saturday or Sunday) a good idea when doing undergrad BArch? I've already heard studying architecture comes with a lot of workload, but will there be time to still fit in a social life & school with a part-time job?
@nazikhariri29314 жыл бұрын
Thanks Iulia for the the video. My question is that I have studied architecture 5 years outside the UK, but my degree was accredited by RIBA part 1. Now, if I need to work in an architectural firm shall I be needing RIBA 2 and 3? I am sure I’ll increase my chances. What if I have made my Masters degree in Project management or Interior Design can I still find work possibilities in both architecture and interior or my options will be limited to what my Masters degree is? I am asking because universities offer an exemption from RIBA 2 exam if you undertake an MArch course. So, can we work in the firm if we only have RIBA 1? And what will we benefit if we became a member of RIBA? Is it more for people who wish to work as freelancers and own an architectural office?
@IuliaLup4 жыл бұрын
Basically you can work in an architectural practice if you have only RIBA 1 as an architectural assistant and you’ll always have this option even if you decide to do a master in interior design. However, if you want to become an architect and not only an assistant you have to go through all stages RIBA Part 1,2 and 3. Hope this helps and makes sense:)

Hi, to be an architect, which subjecs in collage are best for architecture?
@IuliaLup4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Well, to be honest you can study anything...but probably drawing and math should be a must.:D
@user-uq1fq6gs3i4 жыл бұрын
Iulia Lup / I cannot draw but I can design. Should drawing be a must? Lots of architecture nowadays is predominantly computer aided design based which I am very good at. So if I am doing physics and maths in college then is drawing really a must? After all it is something that can be learned in short courses instead of needing an entire college course on it?
@IuliaLup4 жыл бұрын
James Holloway yes, you are totally right. You don’t really need to know how to draw artistic stuff as long as you are able to sketch/ diagram your ideas.. you don’t need more than that and definitely you don’t need to go to an art college for this. For example, I did math and physics in high school and I took a drawing class in my last year because I wanted to learn a bit how to sketch but it wasn’t mandatory, I did it because I was interested in drawing anyway😁🤗 so yeah, to answer your question, drawing is not a must as everything is computer based now. Being a good designer is way more important 🤗

Iulia Lup / Thank-you for taking the time to answer my question 😊
@ellke084 жыл бұрын
@@user-uq1fq6gs3i it's important to remember that architecture is a design degree. Therefore, as a prospective undergrad universities will be looking for design based subjects like art, D&T, photography etc. Having maths and physics is a bonus but is not as much as a requirement than having some sort of design based education.

Hi lulia. I am in same stage as you. Finished part 1 and had onoffical work experience abroad. My question is why do all the students and lectures even non related people keep saying 5 years even tho it's actually 10 years 3BA+1intern+2MA+2intern+2PHD, which I only found out about on last semester of 3rd year. Did they lie to recruit studnets? Otherwise everyone would turn around. Can you call your self an architect after masters? Can you register as an architect in other countries after graduating masters in UK?also my internship was 2 part time jobs internationally. 1 interior design and 1 quantity survey. How do I submit work of quantity survey? Does interior design project count?

Hi Iulia, I hope you are well. This is a lovely informative video about the pathway to become an architect in the UK. Now I'm doing my undergraduate studies in architecture and I have a few questions. During the postgraduate studies how many days a week do you need to study? Do you get maintenance loan as support? I informed myself on the SFE website and for MArch I read that maintenance loan will in place. Thank you, Diana 😊
@IuliaLup2 жыл бұрын
Hi Diana! Buna! 🤗 Well, postgraduate studies are quite difficult, I had to study probably every single day. I mean, you can squeeze in a part time job if needed, but you’ll need to be very well organised to finish everything in time and to keep up with the assignments. Regarding maintenance loan, I’m not sure, as I didn’t qualify for it. I applied but my application was denied so I’m not too sure. Good luck with everything! If you have any other questions you can message me here or on Instagram @iulialup 🤗

Hello, you can start practicing on 3D modeling programs such as Revit , 3D max, sketchup, rhino , Lumion... these programs are very important to create you design ideas plus you should read a lot of things related to architecture like history in architecture , architectural styles , famous architects and their architectural vision and philosophy, read about famous buildings and the concept behind their design Believe me creativity in architecture is related to your knowledge and your architectural background.

Hi everybody! Hope someone is listening :), I´m an architect who has received my diploma of Full Architect overseas (Argentina),. In Argentina, I was a full registered architect and I have lead several protect, from the very beginning to its occupation. Anyone knows how can I work in the UK, (I really don`t need to be registered) in the architectural environment? Because ARB said that the only way is taking the part I, II and/or III on a university, and there is a possibility that the university recognizes my diploma, but if this happens, they ll do maximum to Part I, and this does not represent my 7 years of study, and my 5 years, post-graduate experience. Thanks to all for helping me out! I've just arrived in the UK.

Hello, I am Huda Patel, a qualified architect looking to help fellow architects preparing for the ARB PART 1 exam. Having successfully spent a year understanding the Part 1 examination process and constructing my portfolio in accordance with the 33 criteria listed by the ARB, I have passed the exam in the first attempt and satisficed 32 of the 33 criteria on the bases of my portfolio before the interview round. I have since formulated an interactive guidance program to help candidates looking to give their Part 1 exam. The programs consist of individual mentor-ship sessions, reviewing all of your material, segregating the evidence according to the criteria and identifying loop holes to develop ways to fill in the gaps in order to satisfy all the criteria listed in the comparative matrix. I would also be sharing with you my Part 1 portfolio and comparative matrix as an example for the same.
