Or if you have a clear goal from the start(along with being able to do well in LSAT and MCAT tests), you can try to get into a joint JD/MD program.

@@shalommussie7883 It's doable. Joint programs don't make you do 100% from both programs. You do get a little break on the elective stuffs. But still a lot of work and many are not going to make it through!

Hi Dr. Webb, really enjoy the video's you've posted. It's really motivating to see fellow African Americans in medicine thrive in their respective fields. I found your channel after looking for videos on orthopaedic surgeons as that is what I would like to become. I was wondering if you could do an interview with a DO who matched into a competitive residency-preferably orthopaedic surgery- and go over things that they believe improved their chances. Also, would you be able to do a video on finances, going over pros and cons of buying a house prior to paying off med school debt vs. living like a resident until med school debts are paid off then making major purchases like a house. Could you also include mortgage loans geared towards dentists and physician/surgeons. Finally, you and your guests have done a good job at this, but when making future videos, could you include more details and stories on how you overcame roadblocks? I think focusing more on challenges overcome would greatly benefit your viewers -myself included. Keep up the phenomenal work !

Hey dr Webb after you finished your service in the military, and got your degree, did you go straight into med school, or did you wait until your inactive status (reserve) was over in the military. I want to join the military but I really want to know how long it will be before I can apply to med school. Wether I can apply after the military during inactive status
@michaelforrester58756 жыл бұрын
Blight I’m not sure if you know about this, but there’s a program called EMDP2 that is relatively new that allows you to take any bachelors degree and then take 2 years for med school prep then going to med school all while maintaining active duty status. You owe a lot of time after and it’s really competitive program, but that, USUHS, and HPSP might be things you want to look into
@blight80746 жыл бұрын
Michael Forrester thank you!! I’m in the Georgia national guard, I know being in the national guard there are restrictions to military benefits. But I’ll look into it, thank you!!
@michaelforrester58756 жыл бұрын
Blight the guard (Georgia I know for sure bc I’m from Georgia and not too long ago talked to a recruiter for the guard) offers a lot for med school if you go then decide to serve as a doctor in the guard. I’m not sure if you’re in school now, but if you do ROTC and guard you can make quite a decent amount of money while in by using the rotc scholarship and then using your hi bill for income. ROTC will pay for everything then the Montgomery hi bill just goes to you. Then you can go to med school through hpsp or usuhs or apply while in the army as an officer to either of those programs with permission from your chain of command and break your current contract in order to go to med school on the army’s dime
@colemantyra6 жыл бұрын
What did she mean that you don't want to wait for the hospital to pay you?

Basically, just to have several sources of income. Medicine income, especially in private practice, can fluctuate depending on how busy you are so its good to have several other incomes coming in during this time
