Not that I could recommend. I would say get a copy of the latest IELTS past exam papers form Cambridge (see the description of my videos). I'd also recommend you binge-watch a lot of KZbin videos aimed at students as this will help you understand what you should be teaching them. Please recommend certifications and where to get materials for IELTS teaching. Is my TEFL/TESOL certifications enough ? Must I get TOEFL?

Ultimately this is down to the school that you teach at. If you are a native English speaker, then your TEFL qualification will be fine. If you aren't a native English speaker then you may have to demonstrate to a school that you are just as competent as a native speaker seeing that you have a TEFL qualification. Basically, there is no set certificate you need to teach IELTS, you just need to show that you have the ability to do it.

So CELTA was good, in relation to IELTS, for classroom managment skills? I am considering this path of teaching IELTS on a bit of a whim, and the realization that perhaps I'll have to teach kids for another year at a cram school while learning the ins and outs of the test. That said I just applied for CELTA. Really I want to ask if is CELTA is correct first step in your opnion?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, when I took the CELTA it really gave my teaching career a boost. Some schools might not know the difference, but the level of training you get is better than a quick TEFL course.

You can contact PIEC , New Delhi Janakpuri . They provide IELTS teacher training course and have very experienced faculty. Moreover, you will get a paid internship for one month. They also have a team assisting you for getting the job as an IELTS Trainer.

That's correct Vincent. There are no official qualifications to become an IELTS tutor. It will be purely down to the discretion of the person hiring you. I'd imagine the BC would need someone with at least a band 8 level of English. I have seen students advertise their services for private tutoring with a band 7 in some forums too.

It's really down to the discretion of the school hiring you. I would first recommend getting some sort of ESL qualification if you want to be hired by a school (see the description of the video for my recommendations). Getting some practical experience in a classroom will be really helpful when it comes to teaching exam prep. If, however, you want to teach privately and share your own tips and experience, then you can do this online or through a local ad. Be honest about your level and don't promise more than you can deliver. Best of luck to you.

In my experience, most examiners are IELTS teachers beforehand, but I don't think it's a rule or anything. I would check with your local examination center. I'd imagine you'd need an IELTS score of at least 8-8.5 to apply though.
