There should be some kind of class teaching you how to do different styles from Modern, traditional, boho, farmhouse, modern farmhouse, eclectic, boho glam and transitional. So I'm hoping that there are some books teaching you to Styles and textures and mixing of different colors

You’re welcome! ❤️ but I watch ALOT of KZbin if my favorite designer. Lot of current home content. Look in magazines & books. I took staging classes & google any other classes available. I pretty much study it & look at anything I can to see current design trends, etc.

i want to get into the design field but i want to use interior decorating as a foot in the door to the ecosystem. what are your thoughts on using applications such as blender and sketchbook to create an e-portfolio as it cost less but you still get to convey your own style and skill?

I just came across this profession a couple of days ago and I never knew this existed! I've wanted to be able to make a house a home for myself and others and I was wondering if you ever got your certificate in this field? ! came across a few programs and was wondering how necessary it was.

Sounds like you may have a great passion :) at this point, only my staging certificate. Work life takes over.. For interior decorating, its not "necessary" but any additional knowledge can only help! best of luck

as decorator can you change yr clients flooring color and windows or bathroom mirrors or are those the designer job instead? just curious!

Honestly, that will be something you and your client discuss. You can help them pick the flooring, mirrors, etc. Show them renderings or boards and samples to how it will look. Their hiring you for your eye! But I would encourage them to find a contractor for the install and ensure them that you all are separate entities, for legal reasons - unless you are connected to the contractors and be sure your contract is very specific to protect you.

Thank you! Sometimes your first may just have to be a family member or a friend. My own home gained me the most acknowledgement! You can also put together mood boards to show others your eye.

Thank you so much for this video! I first aspired to be in the Criminal Justice field and got my degree in it but I am realizing it’s probably not for me. I have a deep interest in interior decor but im not sure where to start or where to land a full-time job in my city in California. That's very normal! I went to school to be cosmetologist and later found, I had a great love for decor, beyond my own home. Def, do some research in your area, google- classes near you, etc. :)

I'm glad it could help some, as of now, i don't. Most I take I do pay. BUT I watch people like Rebecca Robeson and a few others here on KZbin. They drop a lot of good knowledge.

How do work off the budget? Do you ask for pre-paid debit card or bring back recipts

Yes! Not necessarily a pre-paid card but I have a separate client account. After consulting with them to see what their budget may be.. we go from there. So if they say, " I can spend 1k", that is transferred to the client account and I normally give them a client folder. This is were I put the contract, welcome letter, receipts.. etc. and sorry I do not know a black architecture company.

Hi! I took a local one to where I am located. I would highly suggest going into google and typing design/stage courses near me. I honestly wouldn't refer the one I took. I don't feel I got my money's worth unfortunately.

Hey, I truly understand the financial aspect. The best way is to get someone that is willing to give you a chance. Or you could start making mood boards to show your visual concepts. Try using canvas for that. Best wishes!

because it is subjective to what you are doing. Ex: if you would like Stage homes, search your local area for stages courses or there are several design firms that offer classes online or in person.

I looked into a few colleges and they were all some what different. but the basics and then it led into design courses. Check a school you may be interested in and see if you're wanting to go for you associates or your bachelors- then look to see what they're asking. My path is a little different, seeing that I was a human services major first.

Hello, I am not sure I understand your question. Free interior decorating ? Are you saying if you offer to do a free service or receiving ? If you are saying if you offer a service, that would be totally up to you on what part is "free".

I'm not sure i follow. If it's you doing the decorating & you don't want to charge for your services, that's your choice. You can say, "the service is free but client must still provide money for decor purchasing".
