Just wait for the first drunk to vomit in your car. Not worth it.

I think the money versus the wear and milage plus gas isn't going to be good!!

He wants be “in charge” of something. He’s probably going to be unemployed from his $30 hr job to haul customers around. Then he’ll need a new SUV to carry more passengers in all seasons. Then he’ll need new exhaust system so it sounds cool. I do wish him the best, but you’re right.

There is going to be wear and tear for sure which both Uber and Lyft poorly compensate for. Having said that, somebody vomiting in your car and difficult riders can be avoided if you choose when and where to work. I have given over 7K rides over a period of 6 years. I did not drive from April 2020 to November 2022 as my trucking business was paying better. I am an independent flatbedder. Both my truck and trailer are parked now for 15 months. Rather than sell cheap, I would wait for the next boom, if that ever comes around. I don't want to work for someone as I am turning 65 in 3 months. Uber does not pay well but it beats being idle. I know some guys that make a monthly gross of over 10K consistly but they don't mind dealing with all garbage that comes with it. I have a friend who retired 3 years ago. He bought a brand new RAV4 cash does Uber 3 hours a day everyday. His only expectation was to pay for the car he drives. So, he sets aside about $600 a month to cover that. He exceeded his expectations.
