Learn how to make a game or game engine from scratch. Bottom up. In C++ or C#. It helps you grasp the absolute foundations and can give you a sense of knowing.

I disagree to an extent. As i learn more, I learn there is so many bad practices being taught. I think the best way is jumping in and building a game after doing a good course. Ie greg wondras 101 course

the most generic tips ever, and YT learning is no where near as great as your making out, much of YT learning is mostly copypasta, while you can learn things sure but you dont necessarily learn good practices, and most YTer only respond to comments on series they are actively working on at that moment once they move on to a new project they ghost the comments of there previous projects, example, even the unreal sensei tut you suggest is filed with bad practices and mostly end up with over bloated asset folders. another issue you find is many tuts are short and only cover one or two things and they go about it the simplest way they can to have it work fr their tut but than you go and try to throw it into your own project and find you need to learn 100 other things first to actually make it work properly. i have not tried paid courses yet but than there the Yters who only respond to members or patreons which you may as well buy a course at that point it feels. and no if iv come to KZbin for info i shouldn't than need to download and set up Discord just to get a response to a question regarding a YT video. KZbin has its uses but its nowhere near as good as you and many other KZbinrs like to make out.
@PhantomUEStudios16 күн бұрын
@@grandmasteryoda3187 I think that YT Is a Place where you can find infite knowledge about loads of different topics, the catch Is that the valuable information is sort of buried inside what Is loads of BS; but that's not the problem, i think. The problem Is about how the user approaches YTvideos: they think they can Watch 1 video on how to become a Rocket engineer and actually become One. Even if you find videos that show obsolete practises that doesn't mean that those can't teach how you can figure out / understand more advanced ones. You then have ti realize that Ytubers like UnrealSensei have far more comments to answer than regular Ytubers and they tend to respond on their discord because they found It a great way to group different questions From a large portion of videos. I took the time tò write you this message right here, Imagine if i had to respond at another 300 comments like yours on 30 different videos, i'd rather shoot myself in the face. Anyway, the problem's also the fact that viewers are ATTRACTED by the "copypasta" thing you talk about. Search here on KZbin "How to learn Unreal Engine" and see how there isn't a single video that isn't at least a 1k views that talks about the same things. In sinthesys, the YT algorithm only suggest You what everyone wants to see, and if you don't do something that everyone wants to see, you're dead.
