i feel like it must be difficult for these big hollywood films as executives would push to make a film that appeals to the widest audience possible because money but that limits how far from the standard you can go. You can't be too weird or unique or have any distinctive identity if you're trying to be the next x because you're limited to fulfilling expectations. It kinda sucks that you can just feel how films are trying to make money- which they always have I'm not going to act like they haven't but you shouldn't feel like as an audience you're consuming a product rather than art. Idk if that makes sense.

I think that people are so used to following the same formula that it just comes off as stiff and copy paste. Zombieland was so fun to watch because of how much it stood out and did its own thing compared to other zombie movies. So please if you're a writer seeing this, you only need inspiration, experiences, and as corny as it sounds, creativity.

I liked this video, but I have to disagree with the assertion that there aren't many good original movies these days. There are plenty, they just aren't often being produced by big studios. I can name several examples of post-2020 movies that have blown me away. I can understand that it may FEEL like there aren't as many now because of how aggressively studios push stuff that really isn't worth watching, but that doesn't mean it is so. I also wish you would be more specific with your advice beyond just "focus on what makes your story work and don't try to be like everyone else". That's pretty basic level stuff. As is, you spend most of the video talking about two movies you like (and fair enough, I love hearing people talk about films they're passionate about) and then wrap it up with a conclusion that's... kinda too vague to be of much technical assistance. That said, I appreciate your efforts of encouragement as a writer who is working on a novel at the moment. It's nice to see others who are passionate about the craft and I hope my critique is fair and balanced.

thanks for giving actual constructive criticism. I agree with ur point about originality, I was originally going to include modern films I liked but thought it would add unnecessary length to the video.

Cabin in the woods was great. After watching it years ago, I still can’t get that movie out of my head.

@@jonathan4lee I'm not much of a reader but I read Chainsaw-man and all I'm gonna say Is the place in the story Chainsaw man anime ended was like the true beginning of the story. It ended right where the gets really really good. Which I felt was dumb. Still a great anime but needs a season 2.
