I saw this years ago, and 2024 finally had something to try it on! It didn't work, but I remembered it was here and was glad of it. I was trying to notch out a bit of RHS and then fold over the notch. It didn't work.

Hey, mate! I'm new to Inventor and was looking through some tutorials, but they all were just plain boring and basic, but then I found your channel. Your video are just great, very useful and enjoyable to watch at same time. Keep up the good work, I'm loving it! ;)

Bend part is straight forward enough. But what about returning it to a flat pattern (like sheet metal) to show the shop where to mark the parts to make the bends?
@JK360noscope7 жыл бұрын
I'm running into the same issue. The parts are "previewing" exactly the same position with no bend in sight... What I'm having to do is to recreate the part and "bend" to see if I can recreate something that looks... well, similar enough

It is very old command. From "Designer" or MDT program. When I explaind why I prefer Inventor and.not SW, I told: "We can bend everything!"

I bent a plate that had geometry at the end, it - (the geomtry and shape) didn't go with the bend, it stayed put floating in thin air even though it was constrained to the end of the plate. The bend tool has limited use. Good video though. Thanks.

Hello, great video. Have an issue. Is there possibility to realistic bend a rectangular tube with real radius?
@Neil3D7 жыл бұрын
+Tibor Molnar Yea the only thing for that is the tube & pipe environment in Inventor Pro, that comes with steel tubing which can have min bend radius input into it. I don't have any tube & pipe tutorials yet but there are plenty other people who have done them so it should be easy to find

Question: How do you make an unfolded version afterwards. I need a flat pattern view for my drawing.
@Neil3D7 жыл бұрын
Yea you can't flat pattern unfold this, it isn't a sheet metal module function. Sheet metal has commands that'll do a similar thing to bend part but will then flatten out
@Neil3D9 жыл бұрын
Can't reply to your comment as you've disabled it but yea I was thinking about it! Not sure if I have the time to put enough effort into it but I was just playing about with a few ideas yesterday and that part was one of them!

Bend command is the main functionality in a Sheet Metal env., should be self evident by now.

Hello Sir, is How do I do that on the Fusion 360? Looked for it everywhere and nothing. Is there any easy way to ben a flat plate other than having to sketch the angles and then extrude it? Thanks
@44730219 жыл бұрын
Hey great tutorial! I'm using the 2015 student version of Autodesk Inventor, and the drop down arrow under the modify ribbon doesn't exist at all.... thus leaving me with no access to the bend a part tool, nor move bodies or copy object. Any clue as to whether this is a feature taken out of the student version or if the tools are just hidden? The drop down menus do exist on other tools in the ribbon, just not under modify.....
@Neil3D9 жыл бұрын
4473021 Hey, I'm looking at 2015 here now and it's all there! The student version is exactly the same as any other version, it's the same program but you just use a different serial number so you have everything there. Are you definitely in an IPT file? Not an assembly?
@44730219 жыл бұрын
TFI CAD Tips I actually figured it out just now. As I only started learning autodesk inventor (and CAD altogether) just earlier today, I did not realize you had to double click the part (I'm guessing it's because I'm working in an assembly) for the drop down menu option to show. Thanks for your kind intentions though, your videos have been really helpful! ^^
@sir-ransbach7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the videos. Can you help me with this? How do I bend a part by torsion?
@AtomicusPrime8 жыл бұрын
What were you clicking from 2:11 to 2:15? Just arrows?
@AtomicusPrime8 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... there's so much I don't know. I probably don't know what you were clicking because I also don't know what prompted the sniper cross hairs/circle that appeared just before the clicking that showed the slicing views.
@Neil3D8 жыл бұрын
That was holding down F4 and the left mouse button to do an orbit, also I think at one point in there I pressed F7 whilst in a sketch to slice the part in half but that wasn't relevant or contributing to anything at that time! But yea hold down F4 and left mouse to orbit.
@AtomicusPrime8 жыл бұрын
+TFI CAD Tips ah perfect! The F7 was definitely what caught my eye first but I'm happy to learn both, thanks so much. I'm switching over from autocad and haven't seen the list of shortcuts yet. I spend half my time watching/inspecting people install a roof on a huge casino right now and I'm eager to get home and get those short cuts into my razer naga. Do you have a video of your favorite shortcuts (macros) up yet? Your videos are the best!!

i was wondering if inventor could help me with some metal castings i wana make. i want to to calculate the shrinkage and the machining neede with the least effort possible.
@Neil3D9 жыл бұрын
mataz farouh Nah sorry Inventor won't calculate shrinkage during casting of metal parts. It has a module for tooling and injection molding of plastic parts but it doesn't do liquid metal
