What is cold bend in pipeline?
Cold bends are frequently required in energy pipelines in order to change the vertical and horizontal orientations of the pipeline route. They are produced by plastically bending a pipe joint in a cold bending machine by creating a series of uniformly spaced incremental bends.
What is the difference between cold bending and hot bending?
Cold bending methods often rely on sheer physical force to help bring the pipe to its final shape while hot bending methods use careful heating to reduce the force required. Each method has unique benefits and will determine the degree of bending possible and the final shape of the pipe.
COLD BENDING- Advantages
Cold bending does not require the use of fuel to heat the steel before processing, and the additional time and effort of heating and then cooling the steel are eliminated. Cold rolling results in a smoother, more finished surface and generally causes less deformation of the item being processed.
There are countless benefits to cold bending over heat bending when you are working with various types of metals. Regardless of whether you are dealing with beams, pipes, or metal in any other shape, there are going to be times when you need 3D, 4D, and even 5D bends so that they can reach the desired angle.
You will be able to work with a variety of metal alloys when you take advantage of a cold bending service. Many metals will be destroyed or drastically weakened when exposed to heat. Regardless of what you are using the metal on, you cannot risk weak pipes and therefore the cold method of bending is going to be the best option for you.

Any limit or range for elastic bends in buried pipeline with reference to international standards? Usually in pipeline alignment sheets it shows 1 to 2.5 degree I didn't get proper data in this matter Please advice sir!

This limit varies on various factors, like pipe materials, space constraints - which not allowing us to make long radius bend. Short radius Bends in pipeline will restrain the service flow and the line will not be scrapable for maintenance. It is very clear with our Saudi client standard (I can not take the Name)- for example- cold preformed bend- for 6 inch pipe maximum 4.5 Deg per 300mm. it reduces with diameter. for 36 inch and higher- 0.5 deg per bite-@450mm interval.
