How to Bend Text in GIMP

Sorry this is giving you so much trouble. It's possible that using a different program, like Inkscape, might be more intuitive to you. Inkscape uses "vectors" that can be updated at any time, whereas Gimp actually draws pixels on your canvas which are harder to adjust once they have been applied. What if I want to align the text to a path already in my logo design which is basically the curve of the logo within?? Im finding it really hard to use the path tool!!

Thank you, just one problem. When i click to make the text along the path, it draws it upside down and backwards? Like inverted

Have you tried reversing the direction of your path? To flip the direction of the path, follow the steps at 7:11. Hope that helps!

Hi there, thanks so much for this post, it's very helpful. I was trying to put text along an oval ellipse path, but the text gets placed over on the sharp curve of the oval on the right. How do I rotate it to be centered at the top of the oval?

I've just been adding spaces before the text so as to counter the automatic pushing to the left of the text.

Is there any way to change the font after placing the text along the path? It always just ends up with a standard font but I want to be able to use different fonts!

If you select the font tool and change the font family in the left panel before doing "text along path" that should do it! Let me know if that still gives you trouble.

@@Jantcu Thanks! Missed that. Apparently when you create new text, the text box shows the new font but it doesn't show up on the text toolbox.

GO TO TEXT TOOL AND CLICK THE TEXT TO EDIT TEXT. THEN RIGHT CLICK MOUSE - YOU SHOULD HAVE THE "TEXT ALONG PATH"

Did you make sure to click "Selection from Path" under the tool options on the path tool? You are actually filling in the selection (area inside the dotted lines).
